Details Of New Album “The Gathering” Issued By Deathless Legacy

Italy’s Deathless Legacy – featuring Vision Divine keyboardist Alessio Lucatti (as Pater Blaurot) and Motus Tenebrae drummer Frater Orion – released the debut album “Rise From The Grave” in 2014. A summary of the horror and the macabre haunting their creepy minds, this talented group of young musicians was able to create a hazy, powerful and captivating sound, which they like to call “horror metal.”

The band signed a new deal with Scarlet Records, and now are ready to release the second chapter in a fast-rising career, “The Gathering,” another horror-infused album which creates creepy musical landscapes and atmospheres while exploring occult and esoteric themes. The Gathering was recorded at Eden Studio in Pisa, Italy and mixed & mastered at Domination Studio in San Marino by acclaimed producer Simone Mularoni (DGM). And if the band’s influences are unmistakable, it is also true that their music stands out as something unique, as it’s particularly evident during the very theatrical live shows they are known for.

The track list is as follows:

1. The Gathering (intro)
2. Circus Of The Freaks
3. Phantom Manor
4. Baal
5. Wolfgirl (song streaming here)
6. Tiamat
7. The Tomb
8. The Graveyard
9. The Dove Has Died
10. Smash Your Idols
11. Skeleton Swing

Marty Friedman Streaming New Song “Steroidhead”

Marty Friedman has unveiled the first full track from his upcoming studio album, “Inferno.” The brand new song “Steroidhead” can be streamed below.

“Steroidhead” sees Friedman backed by some notable young musicians — Keshav Dhar and Anup Sastry (Skyharbor). Says Friedman: “I love working with innovative, risky and borderline crazy musicians, and the guys on ‘Steroidhead’ certainly fit that description. Each track on the album has a separate dream team on it, so it feels like a constant barrage of fresh interpretations of my music.”

Due in May, “Inferno,” is Friedman’s first solo album of original material in four years, and his first recording in more than a decade that will be released worldwide simultaneously. Featuring what he describes as the heaviest, most intense playing of his career, the album will feature guest appearances by Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom), flamenco/metal acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and Revocation’s David Davidson. In addition, “Inferno” includes Friedman’s first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in Cacophony.

Between The Buried And Me’s Paul Waggoner Shares Advice With Young Metal Musicians

In a free ranging discussion with Great New Metal founder and publisher Brian Shields, Between The Buried And Me’s Paul Waggoner let’s young musicians know that is takes more than just advanced software in a bedroom studio to earn the attention of metal fans.

“If you’re going to commit yourself to being a musician, particularly in this genre, it’s a blue-collar job,” Waggoner tells Shields in a conversation recorded at San Francisco’s Fillmore venue. “You have to get out there. You have to get on the road. You have to tour. You have to work hard. You have to hit the streets and play shows and people’s basements and whatever you have to do to show people that you play your instruments and that you’re not just a recording. You’re a band.”

Waggoner says that’s one of the reasons he’s joined other established metal musicians, such as Paul Masvidal (Cynic) and Brian Fair (Shadowsfall) in supporting Great New Metal, a music journalism project designed to create a buzz around up and coming metal bands, growing their audience, and helping them to monetize that new fan base.
