Haken Releases “Lapse” Music Video

Haken is set to hit the road in North America later this month for the band’s 10th anniversary tour. In advance of that trek, the band just released a brand new psychedelic and sci-fi animated video for the track “Lapse,” taken from last year’s “Affinity” (reviewed here) and created by Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight.

The band comments: “Lapse was one of the first tracks we wrote for Affinity. Now more than a year since the album’s release, it’s great to finally give this song a chance to stand out on its own, as it’s one of our favorites!

“Visually, we wanted to maintain a consistency with our videos for ‘Initiate,’ ‘Earthrise,’ and ‘The Endless Knot,’ so we returned to Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight to complete the series. The video incorporates a 3D motion capture technique (previously used on Frost*’s ‘Numbers’ video) to tie in with Affinity’s themes of artificial intelligence/consciousness.”

Abhorrent Decimation Streaming Full New Album “The Pardoner”

UK-based extreme death metal group Abhorrent Decimation officially release “The Pardoner” today via Prosthetic Records. In celebration of that release, you can now hear the full album below.

Conceptually, the album is an in-depth exploration into The Pardoner, English poet Geoffrey Chaucer’s most depraved and deceitful character from The Canterbury Tales. The Pardoner is a religious fraud and hypocrite who preaches against the love of greed, yet whose own love of wealth enabled him to profit off the sins of others.

“The Pardoner” was recorded, mixed and mastered by bassist David Archer at Audio Empire. The album’s intricate artwork was created by German illustrator Karmazid, based on a visual concept by Vocalist Ashley Scott.

Islander Streams Full “Power Under Control” Album

The new Islander album “Power Under Control” has come online for full streaming as the album sees official release today.

“I’ve never been so honored to be a part of music,” confesses frontman Mikey Carvajal. “I truly believe this is the album that the world needs right now. The youth are tired of bands not writing their own songs and they are tired of no one speaking up for what’s really going on. Rock and roll is supposed to be dangerous, and ‘Power Under Control’ is far from safe.”

The “Power Under Control” tour continues tonight including dates with We Came As Romans and festival appearances at High Elevation in Denver, Texas Mutiny in Ft. Worth, and more to be announced soon.

Gus G. Announces “Operation Domination” Tour Dates With Angel Vivaldi

Greek guitar phenomenon Gus G. will embark on the “Operation Domination” co-headliner U.S. tour with renowned shredder Angel Vivaldi. A full breakdown of dates and venues is available below.

Gus G. states: “I’m very excited to return to the U.S. this fall to finally hit more markets and play for the fans that were left out on my recent Spring mini-tour. Teaming up with a talented player like Angel Vivaldi seemed like a great opportunity.

“We’re both stoked to bring the ‘Operation Domination’ tour to the American audiences and we will be performing our own individual sets, but also collaborating on stage together as well. We will have a great band with us that features James Paul Luna (Holy Grail) on vocals, Alex Bent (ex-Battlecross, Testament) on drums and Jake Skylyr on bass.

“The set list will once again be a mixed bag including songs from my solo works, Firewind, Ozzy material but some surprises as well. These shows are not to be missed. See you soon.”

Vivaldi further adds: “For me this tour perfectly summarizes the evolution of modern guitar playing. To be able to share a stage with a force such as Gus is both inspiring and refreshing. I cannot wait to see the looks on people’s faces when they see what we have planned! I’m also really excited to dip into music from all my releases including the upcoming re-recordings from The Speed of Dark: Revisited, coming out this year.

“After the recent tragic events in Orlando, I’m going above and beyond to make this tour a much needed celebration of love, inspiration and positive energy. I have some exciting tricks up my sleeve that I’m anxious to unleash on this run. It’s going to be a party!”

MOTOR SISTER announce first ever UK tour in January

– August 26th, 2015 –

MOTOR SISTER who feature Mother Superior founder, guitarist, and vocalist Jim Wilson fronting the band, with Anthrax’s Scott Ian on guitar, Pearl Aday on backing vocals, Joey Vera on bass, and John Tempesta on drums, have announced they will hit the UK for the first time ever in January 2016 to play ten in-your-face shows.

And they can’t wait:
Jim Wilson – “Motor Sister in the UK! Get down and get with it!
Scott Ian – “Motor Sister was born at a crazy party in the jam room at our house, just the five of us rocking our asses off. And now we get to bring that party to the UK!!! It’s a privilege my friends! See you soon.
Pearl Aday – “We love the UK. No better place to start bringing Motor Sister to the world. We’ll see you there, friends! Cheers, love, rock.

Check out the video for “Beg, Borrow, Steal” online now at metalblade.com/motorsister.

January 2016
6th MILTON KEYNES – Craufurd Arms
7th LOWESTOFT – Aquarium
8th GRIMSBY – Yardbirds
9th NOTTINGHAM – Rescue Rooms
10th WOLVERHAMPTON – Slade Rooms
12th GLASGOW – Cathouse
13th YORK – Fibbers
14th MANCHESTER – Sound Control
15th SHEFFIELD – Corporation
16th LONDON – Underworld

Support will come from JARED JAMES NICHOLS who recently release his debut album Old Glory And The Wild Revival.

MOTOR SISTER was originally assembled to jam for Scott Ian’s fiftieth birthday party. Thanks to Scott’s wife Pearl Aday, who has been working on her solo career with Mother Superior front man Jim Wilson for years, all it took was a quick phone call and the stage was literally set for Scott’s dream gig.

Enthralled at the idea of making a record of his favorite Mother Superior songs, Ian emailed producer Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther) and asked if he thought it was possible to recapture the same spontaneous energy MOTOR SISTER generated at their makeshift gig, and if an album could be recorded quickly.

Ride was released to great acclaim earlier this year on Metal Blade Records and debuted on the Billboard charts after its first week of release. The album cracked the top 10 with the #9 position on the Billboard New Artist (Heatseekers) chart.
