Cancer Bats Premiere Animated Music Video For “Gatekeeper”

Past Friday Cancer Bats surprise released their new effort “The Spark That Moves” alongside music videos for ten of its eleven tracks. The final video – an animated clip for the opening track “Gatekeeper“ – premiered online now and can be streamed below.

Explains Cancer Bats frontman Liam Cormier the meaning behind the song:

“It’s about those people we have the misfortune of crossing paths with in our lives, who use lies, schemes and deceit to make their way through this world. Everyone has a choice and it’s theirs to continue down this path that will never work out for them. They are the gatekeepers to their own future.”

Dawn Of Tyrants Releases New EP “Breeding Ruin”

Negative-thinking, tyrannical Canadian black / death metal trio Dawn of Tyrants debuts this week with the “Breeding Ruin” EP, the first misanthropic salvo of the band’s signature iron-fisted formula.

“Breeding Ruin” spews five tracks of secular blackened death metal, incorporating a wide range of styles and themes. Comprised of stalwarts of the Toronto metal scene who have spent time in acts such as Overthrow, H5N1, Catharsis, and Priest, the band is forging the way through darker paths to a future most bleak. Expect no compromise!

Opiate Taking Break From Live Shows, Writing New Material

Guitarist Martin Hastrup of Denmark’s Opiate has checked in with the following announcement about the band taking time off from live shows to write new material:

“Hi Everybody! For the next 3-4 months I will be backpacking my way through Asia, which means that I will be taking a break from my guitar-wielding duties in Opiate.

“This also means that there won’t be any shows until the summer, where we hopefully will get to play a lot of concerts for all of you crazy people out there! In the mean time, the rest of the band will focus on writing new awesome (7-string) tunes, so I will have some new stuff to learn when I come home.

“I hope you all have a great spring, and I’ll be seeing you all at our shows this summer!”
