New Video “Afternow” Available From Blackfinger

Featuring the instantly recognizable vocals of former Trouble (and current The Skull) front man Eric Wagner, the doom group Blackfinger – which also features guitarist Terry Weston (Dream Death, Penance) – has unveiled a music video for the song “Afternow.” Filmed in the band’s rehearsal room, with additional footage added and edited by Rafael Ortega (Helsott, Ayreon), the clip can be seen in the player at the bottom.

Says Wagner, “I think ‘Afternow’ is about wondering why things are the way they are when they don’t really need to be. Maybe if we could only catch a glimpse of where we came from, it might be enough to change the future. (Wishful, I’m afraid.)”

“Afternow” comes from Blackfinger’s just-released M-Theory Audio debut, “When Colors Fade Away.” The album can currently be streamed on all digital platforms, while physical copies on CD and limited-edition blue/black marbled vinyl – which feature photos from Matt Bluejay and a striking graphic design by Al Oaks – can be purchased at M-Theory Audio’s online store and at select retailers worldwide.

Blackfinger has also announced a record release show, which will take place in Wagner’s current hometown of Pittsburgh at the venue Howlers on Oct. 28. The group will announce additional performances in the coming weeks.

Broken Hope Posts “The Carrion Eaters” NSFW Music Video

Straight from the butchers block, glut yourself on the official music video for brand new Broken Hope banger “The Carrion Eaters.” Warning: this video is NOT for the faint of heart (or light of stomach).

“The Carrion Eaters” is the second single off Broken Hope’s “Mutilated and Assimilated” album, due out June 23, 2017 via Century Media Records.

The video, directed by Maciej Pieloch, executes sumptuous gluttony digested in savage death metal as it reveals the twisted feeding rituals of cadaver craving subhumans.

“I’m really proud of ‘The Carrion Eaters.’ It’s super-sick and catchy and rotten to the gore!” shares guitarist Jeremy Wagner.

Blackfinger To Release New Album “When Colors Fade Away”

Eric Wagner is a unique and legendary voice in the doom scene, and M-Theory Audio is pleased to announce the release of his next Blackfinger album, “When Colors Fade Away,” this coming summer.

Renowned and still cherished for the classic material he recorded with Chicago’s Trouble for over two decades, in recent years Wagner has been focusing on a couple other promising new bands in a similar vein and one of those is Blackfinger. Now relocated to Pittsburgh, Eric has a new full band lineup and is joined in Blackfinger for a sophomore album by another respected name in doom metal circles: guitarist Terry Weston of Dream Death/Penance.

“I’m extremely excited to announce that Blackfinger has signed with M-Theory Audio,” cites Eric Wagner. “It is an honor and a pleasure to work with Marco Barbieri again after all these years.”

“Eric, the pleasure is all mine,” responds M-Theory Audio’s Marco Barbieri. “Eric Wagner is a true artist, talent and storyteller. I’ve spent the last 34 years listening to classic tales weaved by this man; and he is truly one of my favorite vocalists. Along the way I’ve had the pleasure of working with Eric and Trouble while at Century Media during their Plastic Green Head album cycle and even had his other band, The Skull, headline one of the Doom in June Festivals. Now our co-operation and friendship continues and I am fortunate to release the new and phenomenal Blackfinger album.”

Earthburner Arrives, Posts “Total War” Music Video

Earthburner has arrived! For Broken Hope fans “in the know,” Earthburner is the grindcore entity that Jeremy Wagner first created in 2002 when BH was entering its metal hibernation period.

Check out a brand new video for the Earthburner track “Total War” below. Jeremy Wagner also had this to say:

“I’m happy to announce that Earthburner finally has legs and now has material for the whole world to hear and see. I originally planned to make Earthburner a full-time successor to Broken Hope years ago.

“In fact, I announced it to the masses in 2002, and immediately received positive responses from fans and press-plugs in almost every metal mag available at the time. However, some things in life side-tracked me (like focusing on being a novelist and getting married and moving), and that all caused Earthburner to be put on the ‘back-burner.’

“That said, Earthburner was always on my mind…I was still writing and demoing riffs and extreme music that no one had yet heard, and with each passing year, some fans would ask whatever was I going to do with Earthburner (and I yearned to do something to finally answer that question). The fact that anyone was still interested delighted me and also made me anxious to get it going again.

“I’m intensely passionate about pure grindcore and had always wanted to a genuine grindcore band that would be a separate monster from Broken Hope in terms of style, genre, tuning, vocals, and pure blasting ferocity. It was my love for bands like Terrorizer, Napalm Death, Nasum, Repulsion, General Surgery, and Cripple Bastards all inspired me for decades and really drove me to do something faithful to this über-extreme genre.

“Fast-forward to 2011…a dream came true when my debut novel, ‘The Armageddon Chord,’ was published and became a bestseller that year. That success provided me with the opportunity to pursue more artistic desires. So, I decided to get back into music and concentrate on making Earthburner a real goddamn band. I soon hooked up with drummer, Mike Miczek (who later joined Broken Hope), and vocalist, Ryan Richards (from Chicago grind maniacs, Everything Must Die), and we began writing our asses off. We wrote a dozen songs and later decided to use 3 of them for an official EP (which is released today) and we even did a sick music video for one of the tracks, ‘Total War,’ that I feel is a perfect companion to this EP that listeners will dig.

“Why did it take a little longer for this EP and video to come out? Well, 2 things happened: 1.) I had to file the name, trademark, and all copyrights to the Earthburner name with lawyers and sit on this material. And, 2.) Broken Hope came back into my life FULL-TIME in 2012, and because of BH, I had little time for anything else—be it writing new books or doing Earthburner.

“This EP is just a sample of what to expect from an Earthburner album. Mike Miczek and I have demoed around 15 more songs at my home studio, and we are hoping a legit record label will sign us on so that Earthburner can record and release a full-length album this year. We already have tons of songs ready to go—we just need a label home to put it out. Until then, enjoy this new Earthburner EP and video, and cheers to you all!”

Jeremy Wagner Posts Jeff Hanneman Guitar Estate Rig Rundown

Recently, Broken Hope guitarist and Jeff Hanneman loyalist Jeremy Wagner shared the news regarding the reactivation of numerous famous guitars and amps owned by Slayer’s late guitar god.

To further share this honor with Slayer fans across the world, Wagner has released an exclusive and in-depth look into some of the Hanneman guitars and gear in a special video directed by Tommy Jones.

In this feature, Wagner takes you inside his home studio and invites viewers on an audio-historical journey of Hanneman’s most famous instruments, and elaborates on his personal mission to carry on Jeff Hanneman’s legacy through the use and preservation of the Hanneman guitar estate.

Jeremy comments: “I feel a real responsibility to Jeff and to Kathryn to use these guitars in a way that honors him. As long as I own these guitars, I will use them and carry on Jeff Hanneman’s legacy. He remains a huge influence to me, and I probably wouldn’t be here as an extreme metal guitarist/lyricist without him.”

“This video clip of ‘The Docking Dead’ from our ‘Live Disease’ concert DVD excites me and brings me right back to being on that Brutal Assault stage in front of 20-some-thousand death metal freaks. I hope this video clip is a worthy sample of the visually and sonically epic brutality Broken Hope unleashes throughout this entire concert DVD and companion Live CD.”
