Gama Bomb Posts New Lyric Video, “666teen” Online

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have released a face-melting animated lyric video for new single “666teen.” The blistering track is the first single from the band’s sixth album Speed Between The Lines, out October 12th on AFM Records.

The album’s retro cover art is by New York-based artist Jarred Hageman AKA Chrome And Lightning and Rory McGuigan (Villagers), and the video also features scenes from 1950s public information movies.

The album was produced by longtime Gama Bomb collaborator Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Sylosis).
“The title just popped into my head one night,” explains singer Philly Byrne. “I’d been listening to a lot of 50s rock and doo-wop, songs like Sixteen Candles and Sweet Little Sixteen, and it just kinda morphed into this idea: what if somebody wrote a Satanic teen rebellion song?”
Bassist Joe McGuigan on Speed Between The Lines: “Our aim with this record was keep refining the GAMA BOMB thrash formula. It’s got faster and more punky riffing, battling axes and catchy, memorable choruses from Philly, who’s back with the Halford / Belladona notes after injuring his voice a few years back.”

The digital single’s cover is inspired by vintage paperback novels, featuring art from James Blish’s horror classic Black Easter.

“Speed Between The Lines,” released by AFM Records on October 12th 2018, is the sixth studio album from the band in 16 years. The album will be available as CD, clear yellow gatefold Vinyl (ltd. to 250 units), turquoise gatefold Vinyl (ltd. to 250 units), clear/red gatefold and vinyl red/black splatter (ltd. to 100 units) which is exclusively available in the AFM webshop.

Chthonic Reveals New Album “Battlefields Of Asura” Details

Chthonic, the Taiwanese metal band recognized with its unique signature of performance, is to release an all new album, “Battlefields Of Asura,” on October 10th, the first new music since 2013’s full-length album, “Butik.”

Formed in 1995, Chthonic has hit the road touring over forty countries with hundreds of concerts and festivals. Chthonic has become the most visible Taiwanese metal band with international publicity. In the past five years, all five members of Chthonic have turned a new page in their lives respectively. The frontman of band formed a new political party but also got elected into the Parliament while the others established their families. Nevertheless, they have not forgot the promise to release new material to the fans. This year, Chthonic has Randy Blythe, frontman of Grammy-nominated metal band Lamb of God, and Denise Ho, iconic freedom fighter and singer from Hong Kong collaborating with the creation of the album and appearing in the preview of title track which has raised huge resonance in the music circle.

To tease the album, a secretive promotion plan saw the debut track in new album, “Millennia’s Faith Undone”, remixed and published by five new bands and artists with their own distinctive styles – Elephant Gym, Hom Shenhao, Unfamiliar Friends Party, Bison Country, and Angry Youth, which raised the speculation and attention among fans and people in music industry about the song and the series of remixes. The speculation even hinted the possibility of renaissance of lyrics in Taiwanese. Days ago, Denise Ho, the iconic Hong Kong singer, published her version of “Millennia’s Faith Undone”, as her first Taiwanese song mixed with the voice of Freddy Lim, the frontman of Chthonic, throughout the song, which has become a hit in Taiwan and Hong Kong. As the talks about the relations between the song and Chthonic continues, the answer finally reveals today that the 60-second preview of original version of “Millenia’s Faith Undone” can be heard below and the full version will be out on September 4th.

According to Chthonic, the new album “Battlefields Of Asura” depicts the adventure of deities in Taiwan through eleven songs carrying messages about resistance, freedom and fraternity. The journey is full of hostility, adversary, impregnable fortresses and desires but also inspires infinite courage to search for eternal wisdom. Anyone deeply touched by this album will eventually realize that it is the origin of all thrilling epic stories portrayed in the past albums. This album sounds like gods versus devils and fights among evil spirits on the surface; however, everyone can feel the empathy of fury, grief and even strength of resurgence from the lyrics.

When asked why the band names the new album “Battlefields Of Asura,” Doris, the spokesperson of Chthonic, states, “This album is the prologue of the albums released in the past and was inspired by and dedicated to the activists of Taiwan’s first modern political reform movement back in 1920s.”

Pre-orders on CD and vinyl are available now. The album marks the first vinyl released by Chthonic since its formation. Pre-order of album box set is also available in Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong which includes the album, T-shirt and caps, thematic candle glass, rosary plus 7″ vinyl collaboration single of Chthonic and Denise Ho.

Redemption launches cover song of U2′s “New Year’s Day”

– August 2nd, 2018 –

Last week (July 27th), Redemption released their seventh full-length, Long Night’s Journey into Day – the first to be produced with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Doro, etc.). Today, the band has released a new track from the album: “New Year’s Day”, a cover version of U2‘s classic song – which can be heard at: youtube.com/watch?v=071U2vTItA8

For more previews of Long Night’s Journey into Day, and to purchase the record in various formats, please visit: metalblade.com/redemption

Long Night’s Journey Into Day is inarguably the sound of a band at the height of their powers. As followers of Redemption are also aware, it is the first full-length since the departure of vocalist Ray Alder, and features the debut of Evergrey vocalist Tom Englund. “We were unable to tour ‘The Art Of Loss‘ because Ray was not able to actively participate in Redemption any longer, so we decided it was time to part company shortly after its release. Ray is a dear friend, and I have nothing but respect and love for him and what we created together. But at some point, it just became untenable.” Of course, Alder’s shoes were not exactly going to be easy to fill, and it was essential that his successor be someone who would immediately command respect, as well as somebody who could exceed expectations when it came to performance. Moreover, it was integral that they had someone who could fully invest in the lyrical themes concerning the human condition, which have always been central to Redemption. So, the fact that from the beginning of his career Englund has penned lyrics about feelings of doubt, fear and despair with an unshakable emotional authenticity made him the perfect choice. “Because of the power of his voice and the emotion he brings, this isn’t going to be a shocking transition for fans. Tom’s also a very versatile vocalist, and being a songwriter, he has a tremendous melodic and compositional sensibility, and on top of that, we’ve known each other for many years, and there is a level of not just professional respect but personal friendship to it all.”

Guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. When it came to backing up the music with visuals, the band once again turned to a longtime collaborator, Travis Smith, whose humbling resumé includes records by bands such as Art Of Defiance, Opeth and Iced Earth.

As previously announced, Redemption will appear at ProgPower USA 2018, along with a special show at the Whisky A Go Go, with more USA dates coming soon. See below for all dates!

Redemption live:
Sept. 7 – Atlanta, GA – Center Stage (ProgPower USA)

Within The Ruins Premiere Two New Tracks “World Undone” & “Resurgence”

Within The Ruins debut two new tracks which mark their first official releases with their new singer Steve Tinnon. Those new singles include “World Undone” “Resurgence”. Guitarist Joe Cocchi explains:

“These songs were both written over the course of a big transition period for this band. They have a unique vibe. Nonetheless, we’re more than thrilled to have Steve step up and take over on vocals.

It couldn’t be a better fit for us. We’ve known Steve for years through touring and it feels right to have his voice, personality, and creativity as a part of our bands future now.”

You can stream the two songs below:

Adds Tinnon who replaced Tim Georgen earlier this year:

“I wrote these songs as a pair. I wanted them to go together. ‘World Undone‘ is about feeling like you’ve lost everything and your world has come crumbling down. You’ve been mentally and physically defeated, and no one around you even cares. Everyone goes through dark times where they just feel lost and don’t know what to do. ‘Resurgence‘ is the follow up to that scenario. It’s about making your way out of those difficult situations and coming out on the other side as a stronger person than before. Life can be a constant struggle, and I think that’s very relatable to a lot of people. But I want these songs to serve as a reminder that no matter how bad things seem, you need to keep pushing and keep fighting. Things can get better. Don’t give up.”
