KISS Bassist Gene Simmons Announces Presidential Candidacy

Gene Simmons, the iconic bassist and vocalist of American rock legends KISS, has announced his intention to run for President of the United States Of America in 2020. Running as an independent candidate under the slogan, “I was made for running you,” the sixty eight year old musician is pledging greater focus on trade, the arts and a “unique” fiscal system, known as “Rockanomics.”

“America is at a crucial point in history,” Simmons stated at a press conference in Detroit, “I still believe it’s fine not to have a career politician in charge, they don’t know jack about the common man, however the image of America needs improving significantly. We need to show the world what kind of fun loving people we are, as well as proving our intelligence and business sense to the rest of the world. I believe I’m the man to do that, having demonstrated my business acumen, literary prowess and rock and roll attitude since the seventies… America, I was made for running you!”

Not much else is known about his policies right now but one issue already being discussed is whether or not Simmons will be eligible to run, as he was born in Israel. This is something also often brought up during the political career of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who served to terms as governor of California. Under the proposed, “Demolition Man” legislature though, foreign born American citizens of great upstanding would be able to be elected President of the United States.

Inquisition Dropped By Record Label, Season Of Mist

Black metal duo Inquisition has been dropped by French record company Season Of Mist, it was announced earlier today. No explanation has been given and the message on the Season Of Mist page simply read:

“Season of Mist are no longer working with Inquisition. There will be no further statement.”

Naturally, rumours are circulating as to why the company has dropped the band, originally from Colombia but now based in the United States of America, though Inquisition are no strangers to controversy, having had several concerts cancelled recently over allegations of Nazism, among other serious accusations. More information will be brought to you as soon as it becomes available.

Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce Still “Incredibly Proud” Of Latest Album – Despite Considerable Sales Decline

The release of Asking Alexandria‘s new self-titled album this past December saw the band move around 22,000 sold units in the United States during its first week. Those sales were down considerably from that of the band’s previous album, “The Black“, which sold 30,000 units during its first week of availability. The band saw their commercial peak during the cycles of Reckless & Relentless and From Death To Destiny. The former moved 31,000 first-week units and debuted at No. 9, and the latter jumped to 41,000 units first-week and saw a No. 5 debut.

A report by Rockfeed.net predicting “… for Asking Alexandria, this may be the beginning of their downslope” caught the eye of the band’s guitarist Ben Bruce, who responded publicly with the following tweets:

So @BrianStormMusic used the term “disappointing first week sales” in regards to our new album, which I find laughable! When compared to bands on our “level” we actually outsold most! We sold thousands more than expected in a rapidly diminishing musical format!

— Ben Bruce (@benjaminbruce) January 2, 2018

We are beyond proud of our first weeks sales and our streams (how most people listen to music now) are stronger than ever before! We knew we would chart lower on billboard charts than if we waited to release in January due to Christmas sales being dominated by pop/rap

— Ben Bruce (@benjaminbruce) January 2, 2018

We wanted to release our album at the end of the year and end 2017 on a high! So reporting that we are disappointed is a gross inaccuracy! We are beyond excited, beyond proud and ready for the most incredible year of our career so far ????

Decapitated Vocalist & Bassist Formally Charged With Rape & Kidnapping & Plan To Pursue Bail

Decapitated singer Rafal Piotrowski and bassist Hubert Wiecek had their first court appearance in Spokane County on Friday for allegedly participating in a gang rape of a woman on their tour bus in Spokane on Aug. 31. With the aid of a Polish translator, Judge John Cooney communicated the charges of first-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape to Piotrowski and first-degree kidnapping and third-degree rape to Wiecek.

Waclaw Kieltyka and Michal Lysejko, the band’s bassist and drummer, had their first court appearance in Spokane on Oct. 13. Kieltyka was charged with first-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape and Lysejko was charged with first-degree kidnapping and third-degree rape.

All four band members had their bonds set at $100,000. They also aren’t allowed to talk to each other while incarcerated and were forced to surrender their passports to their attorneys.

The band has been in Spokane County Jail after being extradited from California. They were arrested Sept. 9 in Santa Ana in connection with the case and charged on Oct. 12.

Attorney Jeffry Finer, who represents Piotrowski, said the men will be pursuing bail, but are waiting on documents from Poland to “impress the court” which could take over a week.

“Among this group, there are a number of advanced degrees and zero criminal history,” Finer said.

None of the men has a criminal history in the United States, according to prosecutors, but it’s unknown if they have criminal records in Europe.

According to court documents, two women told police they were invited onto the tour bus following the show. The alleged victim of the rape said that, after talking for some time, she went into the bus bathroom where she was “grabbed and spun around to where she was facing the sink and mirror in the bathroom,” and subsequently raped by each of the members of the band.

The other woman told police that she was able to escape after kicking one of the band members in the groin.

Decapitated announced last month that it was canceling all previously announced tour dates. The band also publicly denied all accusations.

In an announcement last week, the Decapitated members stated that the charges against them were pressed “as a procedural formality” adding that “without doing so, the police would be forced to release band. This is not a conviction or any indication of guilt or innocence.”

The musicians added: “Some facts are indisputable at this point – that the original officer who took the complaint from the accuser stated, ‘I do not have probable cause that a rape occurred,’ and it’s taken a full thirty days to file charges, which is right up against the point at which the defendants would legally have had to be released.”

“The band firmly refutes the allegations and are confident that once the facts and evidence have been seen and heard, they will be released and able to return home.”

Wormholedeath Records Inks Deal With Painted Black

Wormholedeath Records is proud to announce that Portuguese dark metal combo Painted Black has signed a distribution deal for the worldwide release of the album “Raging Light.” The album will be available on all digital shops on October 6th. The physical and Japanese release dates are still TBA.

Band Statement: “We’re very thrilled to work together with the team at WormHoleDeath who have been very passionate with our music since day one! It’s a great feeling to know that with this record we can finally reach a wider audience thanks to the promotion and distribution network of the label, and have ‘Raging Light’ available in its physical format all around Europe, the United States and Japan!”

José Carlos Santos statement: “It has been a long journey for Painted Black. Akin to the pacing of several of their older songs, the Portuguese quintet has slowly but surely matured and evolved from denser, doom-laden beginnings into a multi-faceted, dynamic outfit, and their new album ‘Raging Light’ will not only be the glorious confirmation of that lengthy metamorphosis, but also that it is still an ongoing process. While many fans still hold on to Painted Black’s 2010 debut full-length ‘Cold Comfort’ very close to their hearts, even there the seeds for what was to come were already being sown. Far from the monolithic approach of many of their peers, the core duo of Luís Fazendeiro (guitars) and Daniel Lucas (vocals) already showed hints of their forthcoming exploration, on heavy tunes filled with subtle sadness. 2014 gave us another glimpse into the band’s untapped potential, with the ‘Quarto Vazio’ EP, a short but sweet collection of two surprising covers (Nine Inch Nails and Portuguese pop/rock legends Rádio Macau) spearheaded by the rocking energy of the title-track.

“Three years later, and ‘Raging Light’ is finally here, showing yet again that Painted Black simply won’t stay in the same place for long and will refuse to be pegged down. Although the opening title track’s intro itself underlines the continuity, picking up where ‘Cold Comfort’ left off – a cheeky wink to all those who have followed the band since those days – the departure is indeed wonderfully dramatic over the next 61 minutes. The guitar work is constantly phenomenal, intricate and elegant, its prog undertones offering unexpected twists and conflicting moods, while the rhythm section provides the necessary density and depth for the more fragile and sensitive moments to shine through. Vocalist Daniel Lucas, like a bolt of raging light himself, wanders between the power of his furious death metal roar and the beauty of his heartfelt, clean melodies, dripping with sorrow and melancholy. No two songs sound alike – from the hypnotic, clean-sung ‘The Living Receiver’ to the brief fury of ‘Absolution Denied’, from the instant catchiness of ‘Chamber’ to the rock-out grooves of ‘In The Heart Of The Sun’, but never do they stray too far from the quintet’s established personality, and that is the most delicate balance the band is able to achieve with ‘Raging Light’. No matter how far they have come since those early days, their restless creativity still operates within the framework of the band’s uniquely forged personality, and that is valid even for their most ambitious undertaking so far, ‘The Raging Light’s closing giant, ‘Almagest’. A true emotional rollercoaster enriched by a string quintet, a 17 minute long tour-de-force tracing the very journey of existence itself and ending the album on a remarkable high note.
Just like the explosion of colour and vitality of the amazing artwork will force your eyes to refocus and readjust to take in its power in one swoop, so too will the deeply evocative songs of ‘Raging Light’ will have a similar impact on your brain and on your heart, and leave you with both wide open.”

The track listing is:

1 – The Raging Light
2 – Dead Time
3 – The Living Receiver
4 – Absolution Denied
5 – Chamber
6 – In The Heart Of The Sun
7 – I Am Providence
8 – Almagest
