Light Of The Morning Star Announces Debut EP “Cemetery Glow”

Iron Bonehead Productions has set June 24th as the international release date for the debut mini-album of London outfit Light of the Morning Star, titled “Cemetery Glow.”

The work of one mysterious O-A, Light of the Morning Star is one of the most unique entities to be released on Iron Bonehead. Across the three songs here, elements of hypnotic deathrock, molten doom, and atmospheric black metal are intertwined to such an extent that easy categorization is nigh impossible.

The label comments: “Light of the Morning Star is an unending prayer to the darkness of the world. It is the glow of graves at midnight. It is the voidshadows that shiver and move between crumbling tombs. It is the fangs in the tree of life.

“Light of the Morning Star is a ritualistic summoning of gloom, unholy radiance, and the ghosts of darker times. Light of the Morning Star is vampirism, necromancy, and Devil worship.”

Check out an advance track below titled “An Empty Hearse.” The “Cemetery Glow” track listing will be as follows:

1. An Empty Hearse
2. Black Throne Ascension
3. Wraith

Cold Northern Vengeance Unveils New Album “Maelstrom”

Moribund Records is proud to present Cold Northern Vengeance’s second album, “Maelstrom,” with the label commenting:

“The Pagan/Viking metal berserkers from Cold Northern Vengeance create kaleidoscopic landscapes of majesty and melancholy, storm and shelter. The vision of chieftain Heathen, ‘Maelstrom’ picks up where 2008’s cult classic ‘Domination and Servitude’ left off: rolling, roiling layers of mystifying, hypnotizing tones, all harnessed in a revelatory and Odinistic manner.

“But here, Cold Northern Vengeance digs deeper into their pagan roots, plumbing the dark, alluring depths for a resonance rarely found in American metal. Like a communique sent from another, far-distant time, Maelstrom verily becomes its title and transports the listener away from reality and into a dream-like Valhalla, both splendorous and sinister. Northern sonic craftsmanship that nods to what Viking metal art should be – submit to Cold Northern Vengeance’s ‘Maelstrom!'”

A statement from Heathen reads: “After 13 years of forging the musick of Cold Northern Vengeance, I am proud to have the legendary and prolific Moribund Records as the label to bring you what is, without a shadow of a doubt, my strongest material in terms of songwriting, lyrics, and vision! It is a very storm-like album with a nod to many of my influences while still coming off as unique, idiosyncratic, and dare I say, original. For best results, listen to this on a dark and stormy night, preferably by the raging seas. It has hidden depths and trance-inducing sounds full of pagan revelation. This is my ode to New England and all its witching wonders. Hail to Moribund, and hail to the hypnotic ocean of time and our Hidden Gods waiting to be found!”

Due out October 30 through Moribund Records, the new album’s track listing is as follows:

1. Pierced by the Tree
2. Seeker of Secrets
3. Eye of the Storm
4. Waxing and Waning
5. The Darkness of Once Was
6. Paradox

Tau Cross Inks Deals With Relapse Records

Relapse Records is extremely proud to announce the signing of international punk/metal super group Tau Cross.

Comprised of a pedigree of musicians including Amebix vocalist/bassist Rob “The Baron” Miller, Voivod drummer Michel “Away” Langevin, Misery guitarist Jon Misery, and War//Plague guitarist Andy Lefton, Tau Cross formed in 2013 and recorded a debut album over several months in 2014 throughout three different countries. The record is slated for a late Spring release via Relapse.

Rob Miller commented on the project saying: “The music that evolved over this time is difficult to categorize, as there is clearly a lot of Amebix in the songwriting as well as some elements of gothic, Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Industrial and hard fucking old-school punk rock. This is an entirely original work that is the organic fusion of four unique people.

“We decided to let the songs form themselves around the original demos and allow people to bring themselves into the mix, to allow the bark to grow around the tree. We are all very proud of what we have achieved in this short time and looking forward to working together again as soon as time allows.”

Miller also talked about the band playing live and signing to Relapse: “Tau Cross will be playing live over the coming year, we hope to Tour in the U.S and Europe, it is still early days but I feel this is going to be an intense live experience. We were introduced to Relapse through a mutual friend, Brad Boatright at Audioseige Mastering, and were delighted that they stepped up and took this under their wing straight away, we look forward to working with them in the future.”

Steel Prophet Reveals “Omniscient” Album Artwork

Progressive power metal outfit Steel Prophet has made public today the cover artwork for “Omniscient,” the album that marks the band’s come back ten years after the previous studio release.

The artwork was created by German artist Timo Würz and represents one of the central themes of the album: “The Tree of Knowledge.” According to a press release, “Omniscient” is a concept-album based on an original story written by lead guitarist and founding member Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor, and the tree of knowledge of the cover represents a very important character in the plot.

Following Steve’s suggestions, Timo Würz has also created 12 additional original panels that will guide the listener through the whole story. On this regards, Steve adds “It was great to work with Timo. His sense of form, color and space are impeccable. He has great imagination, and his familiarity with the concepts we wanted to work with made it a perfect fit in bringing the story ideas to life.”

“Omniscient” will be released this summer via Cruz Del Sur Music.
