Septicflesh Films Mexican Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX Show For DVD

Last Saturday, Greek symphonic death metal outfit, Septicflesh, delivered a historic sold out performance at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City. The unforgettable night, entitled Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX, was the largest production of its kind at the venue which included the band and over 130 musicians from the Symphonic Orchestra and National University Of Mexico Children’s and Youth Choir. If you weren’t one of the 3, 200 attendees, rest assured that you will be able to witness the achievement as live footage of the event was captured for a future DVD release.

Septicflesh’s unique blend of symphonic arrangements, avantgarde elements, atmosphere and eviscerating extreme metal has been converting legions into fans since the 90s. Now, with a streak of modern classic albums under their belt such as “Sumerian Daemons” (2002), “Communion” (2008), “The Great Mass” (2011), “Titan” (2014), and now “Codex Omega” (2017) there seems to be no stopping this creative juggernaut.

Septicflesh’s latest album “Codex Omega” is the first to feature former Decapitated drummer Kerim “Krimh” Lechner. Months of hard work and experimentation crafted the album, and resulted in 10 compositions of dark sonic bliss. Lyrically and musically, “Codex Omega” is by far the most infernal release of Septicflesh to date. The album was produced by highly acclaimed metal producer, Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amom Amarth, Kreator). Besides the orchestral side represented once again by the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the band utilized traditional instruments such as Oud and Duduk and also a 12 string electro-acoustic guitar, enhancing the mystical atmosphere of the compositions. Of course as always, Codex Omega is dominated by the relentless death guitar riffing and the pale melodies that are the trademark of Septicflesh.

Shining (NOR) Premiere Title Track Of Upcoming New Album “Animal”

Shining (NOR) will release their new album “Animal“ on October 19th. The band will have that effort out via Spinefarm Records and are now streaming the title track below.

According to the group’s Jørgen Munkeby, the album finds them moving on from their ‘blackjazz’ phase, including abandoning the trademark saxophone. He says of that:

“I was tired of doing the same thing. I was done with ‘blackjazz’ and wanted to create something new and exciting. I needed a change. I’m finally at the point where I have nothing to lose and everything to win. We had 360 degrees to play with so we could’ve gone in any direction. This new record is more Muse than Meshuggah, more Ghost than Gojira, and more Biffy Clyro than Burzum!”

Gibson Sues Funko For Usage Of Their Guitar Designs In Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Etc. Vinyl Figures

Gibson Brands Inc. have filed a suit against Funko over its usage of Gibson like designed guitars with their vinyl figures for various rock and metal artists. Gibson sued Funko earlier this month in California federal court, arguing that it owns the trademark for the Les Paul guitar, including the use of its likeness in toys, and that the pop culture toy company didn’t seek permission for its wildly popular vinyl figures to hold Gibson-design guitars. Funko has released figures of current and former Gibson endorsed musicians, including members of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and Kiss.

Gibson Brands Inc. claims that the suit follows an unsuccesful attempt to initiate a retroactive licensing deal for the usage of their guitar designs with the vinyl figures.

States Gibson:

“The misuse of the Gibson trademarks by Funko was intended to cause, has caused, and is likely to continue to cause, consumer confusion, mistake or deception including the misleading of consumers into mistakenly believing that the defendant’s unauthorized products are made directly by Gibson pursuant to Gibson‘s strict quality control standards or Gibson has authorized or licensed the use by Funko of the Gibson trademarks for those products.”

New And Final Album Announced By Thy Serpent’s Cult

On October 27th, Ordo MCM is proud to present the third and final album of Thy Serpent’s Cult, “Supremacy of Chaos.”

Hailing from the cult metal hotbed of Chile, Thy Serpent’s Cult have been a veritable force of nature for nearly 10 years. Forming in 2008, and now gracefully bowing out on a high note, the quartet has skillfully crafted a scorching firestorm of a sound lo these many years, marrying the sulfurous atmosphere of ancient South American black metal to the jackhammering militancy of classic Krisiun, Deicide, and Angelcorpse. Thy Serpent’s Cult released the second album in 2014 under the banner of Ordo MCM. Fittingly titled “Sedition, Sorcery and Blasphemy,” it was a whirlwind of darkness and dread, and was suitably hailed in the underground.

But now, sensing the end was nigh, Thy Serpent’s Cult unleash the foulest and most dread energies with “Supremacy of Chaos.” Once again fittingly titled, “Supremacy of Chaos” reaps a hellish harvest of tornado-torn death metal, deeply and diabolically suffused with a tangibly occult aura. Here, Thy Serpent’s Cult span all their trademark traits – martial surge, swirling vortex, boiling pressure – and send them deeper into the bowels of Hell. The title “Supremacy of Chaos” is telling, in that the band do indeed hail the supreme powers of chaos; and yet, in other ways, their songwriting is strict and finessed and hardly a chaotic thing. Nevertheless, with a production that ably balances the blood-red raw and robustly professional, Thy Serpent’s Cult smother the senses with an overwhelming onslaught, thereby instilling a sensation of imminent chaos.

And as its last notes ring out, “Supremacy of Chaos” seals the coffin on Thy Serpent’s Cult and preserves a legacy that will remain untarnished. Hail the old gods!

In the leadup to the album’s release, a special lyric video for “Into the Depths of Hell” can be viewed below. Cover and track listing are as follows:

1. Supremacy of Chaos
2. Diabolic Force
3. The Goddess of the Lust
4. Into the Depths of Hell
5. Pedophilac Priest
6. Apocalyptic Horse of War
7. Endless Hate
8. Satanic Rites of Blood
9. Real of Satan
10. Necrophago
11. Leviathan

Details Of New Album “We Owe You Nothing” Posted By Forgotten Tomb, New Single Streaming

“We Owe You Nothing”, the ninth studio album from Italian black/doom metal overlords Forgotten Tomb, is set to be released on October 27th in Europe and November 10th in North America via Agonia Records. The album’s title track & first single is available in the form of a lyric video, which you can enjoy at the bottom.

The album marks the highest point in the band’s constant evolution and once more makes it hard to narrow down its sound to some pre-existing labels. Effortlessly blending the eerie, dissonant black metal sound the band is well-known for with muscular sludge/doom riffs and a subtle, nihilistic punk attitude, “We Owe You Nothing” defines the band’s personality more than ever, reaffirming its unique sound.

Starting in the beginning of the millennium with bona fide classics such as “Songs to Leave” (2002), “Springtime Depression” (2003) and “Love’s Burial Ground” (2004) – widely considered among the true originators of the so-called “Depressive Black Metal” sub-genre – the band explored increasingly heavier and broader territories with all the albums that followed, from the genre-shattering avant-garde of “Negative Megalomania” (2007) through the pitch-black rocking-vehicle “Under Saturn Retrograde” (2011), then perfecting the band’s own black/doom formula with the harsher tones of “…And Don’t Deliver Us From Evil” (2012) and “Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love” (2015).

The band commented: “Our discography has always been divided by trilogies. ‘We Owe You Nothing’ closes the third trilogy which started with ‘…And Don’t Deliver Us From Evil’ followed by ‘Hurt Yourself And The Ones You Love’ and it’s the heaviest among the 3 albums, with an emphasis on slower/mid tempos and a sludgier approach while retaining also our trademark melodies and dissonant arpeggios, plus some twists which open new doors to the next era of the band. Due to circumstances surrounding it, it’s been an extremely painful album to make and therefore it’s one of our darkest, while being also filled with raw energy”.

Recording-sessions started in December 2016, with drums being tracked at Big Pine Creek studio in Italy, but were abruptly interrupted when singer/guitarist Ferdinando “HM” M. was involved in a life-threatening car accident that left him unable to play for months. The recording was resumed and completed in May 2017 at SPVN Studio in Italy, while mix and mastering were done in June 2017 at Planet-Z studio (Hadley, Massachussets, USA) by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Rob Zombie, Six Feet Under, Crowbar, Hatebreed).

The track listing and cover artwork can be found here:

1. We Owe You Nothing
2. Second Chances
3. Saboteur
4. Abandon Everything
5. Longing For Decay
6. Black Overture

This Friday (July 14th), Norwegian death metallers Execration will release their new album, Return To The Void, via Metal Blade Records. Today the band premieres a new song taken off Return To The Void: “Hammers Of Vulcan” – which can be heard at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTUs6hfCPTY

For another preview of Return To The Void, the title track and previous single “Eternal Recurrence” can be heard at: metalblade.com/execration – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:
–Digipak CD
–180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
–grey-marbled vinyl (limited to 300 copies – EU exclusive)
–pot green-marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies – EU exclusive)
–white/black-splatter vinyl (limited to 100 copies – EU exclusive)
–white/black-marbled vinyl (limited to 120 copies – USA exclusive)
–red transparent vinyl (limited to 100 copies – Hells Headbangers exclusive)
* plus digital options are also available!

“Coming off of two double 12″ vinyl albums, the first clear goal for writing ‘Return To The Void‘ was to deliver the same kind of dynamic and shifting song-writing in a more condensed to-the-point package”, comments Execration. Stripping songs down to their essential core has been a driving force while writing, and it shows – there is not a wasted moment on the album. Ticking in at 42 minutes – a perfect fit for the vinyl format – the album takes the listener through a whirlwind of thrash, death, black, and even heavy metal, fast and slow parts, and the trademark Execration shifts in mood, tempo, and atmosphere.

“As with the previous two albums, we wanted to capture the feel of a live performance, so all the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live in our rehearsal studio in Oslo over the course of a weekend. Vocals, synths, and various effects where recorded the following weeks with assistance from Andreas Tylden (One Tail, One Head / Altaar). The album was then mixed and mastered by Tom Kvalsvoll of Kvalsonic Labs.”

Thematically, the album takes off into outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space. The album’s seven songs and two instrumental tracks are permeated with the mysteries of the universe, both in lyrical content and concept, and in the music itself. This theme is further brought to life by the magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.

Return To The Void track-listing:
1. Eternal Recurrence
2. Hammers of Vulcan
3. Nekrocosm
4. Cephalic Transmissions
5. Blood Moon Eclipse
6. Unicursal Horrorscope
7. Through the Oculus

New Single, Video Clip “We Are On Fire” Available From Hell In The Club

Italian hard rock act Hell In The Club – featuring Elvenking vocalist Davide Moras – released a video clip for the new single “We Are In Fire.” Check it out in the player below. The song will be featured on the upcoming release “See You On The Dark Side,” which will drop on September 15th via Frontiers Music srl.

Of the new album Moras commented: “The album sounds great, our best production with our most ambitious arrangements to date, but still with a rough and kickin’ edge which has been our trademark since the beginning. As usual we’ve been melting all our inspirations and what we like in music and made a unique blend – pure 100% Hell in the Club – in these 11 tracks that contain a lot of different shades, melodies, power, heavy riffs, big choirs, sweet tunes and also a full swing/jazz orchestra this time!”

Bassist Andy Buratto had this to say about the video for “We Are On Fire”: “The videoclip of ‘We Are On Fire’ is dirty, sweaty and powerful. It represents the actual status of Hell in the Club! Flames, Energy and Rock’n’roll. Yes indeed…we are on fire!”

The album was once again recorded at Domination Studios under the watchful eye of Italian super producer Simone Mularoni (DGM). The track list is:

1. We Are On Fire
2. The Phantom Punch
3. Little Toy Soldier
4. I Wanna Swing Like Peter Parker
5. Houston We’ve Got No Money
6. A Melody, A Memory
7. Showtime
8. The Misfit
9. Withered in Venice
10. Bite of the Tongue
11. A Crowded Room

New Album “Gothica” Announced By Ten

British melodic hard rock band Ten has announced the upcoming new album “Gothica,” which will drop on July 7, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The highly anticipated new album promises to be one of the strongest collection of songs to date. It is full of all the trademark textures and flavors we have come to expect from Ten, arguably one of the best and most consistent melodic hard rock bands in the genre. “Gothica” renews Ten’s longstanding association with the Frontiers label and proudly displays all the hallmarks of classic Ten albums and will surely continue to build upon the rich legacy that the great British rockers have forged over a career spanning 22 years and counting.

“Gothica” emerges as the darkest album to date. Embracing history, romance and erotic horror in equal measure as it does, the title proves to be a fitting name. As listeners, we are transported from the darker side of human nature to the nocturnal supernatural, a dramatic realm of nightmares and the forbidden. “Gothica” is cinematic in every sense of the word. A web of musically elaborate spells, evoking embers that spark the imagination courtesy of the classic song writing of vocalist Gary Hughes.

Of the album, Gary says, “I am extremely pleased with the collection of songs on ‘Gothica’ as they feel like they belong together. The band are firing on all cylinders once again and it is a gift to the army of fans everywhere who have relentlessly supported us over the years. It is ironically fitting that our 13th studio album should be a little more sinister, at the same time retaining all the commercial traits usually associated with a Ten album.”

Following their success on the recent albums “Albion” and “Isla De Muerta,” Hughes is joined once again by guitarists Dann Rosingana, Steve Grocott and John Halliwell along with bass player Steve McKenna, keyboard maestro Darrel Treece-Birch, and drummer Max Yates. On the third outing as a collective unit, the musicians in Ten has raised the bar even higher than the band had previously. The album is full of stunning guitar work over a rich keyboard, bass, and drum tapestry with Hughes’ vocals once again bringing the nuances of the intricate lyrics to life.

“Gothica” was produced by Gary Hughes and mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward. Ten’s longstanding professional association with Dennis has been ongoing since he mixed their 2011 album “Stormwarning.”

Additionally, the album features stunning original artwork by Stan W. Decker (shown below), depicting a beautiful enchantress reading incantations from a book whilst summoning shadowy characters from its pages. Stan has cleverly illustrated the piece in order to portray the characters emerging from the books pages as the actual characters from the songs on the album. The atmospheric sleeve photography is once again provided by the remarkably talented Adrian Ashworth.

Frontiers is proud to be working with the legendary Ten again and looks forward to sharing this stunning new album with the band’s fans around the globe!

The track listing is as follows:

1. The Grail
2. Jekyll And Hyde
3. Travellers
4. Man For All Seasons
5. In My Dreams
6. The Wild King Of Winter
7. Paragon
8. Welcome To The Freak Show
9. La Luna Dra-cu-la
10. Into Darkness
