Explains Karol:

“This studio recording was a crazy challenge for me because I was actually composing my own patterns and fills during the tracking sessions. Mathieu, the main composer of GOROD, finished writing the last song of the whole album less than one week before I started recording drums!”

Deicide Release Date For New Album “Overtures Of Blasphemy” Set For September

Deicide‘s new effort “Overtures Of Blasphemy” will be out September 14th via Century Media. The group worked with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder) at Audio Hammer Studios on this latest outing. Artist Zbigniew M. Bielak (Ghost, Mayhem) created the cover art for the new full-length, which can be seen below.

Comments vocalist/bassist Glen Benton of the effort:

“This album came together over time, meaning we didn’t want to rush it. A few people might remember an interview where Steve Asheim (original member, drummer/songwriter) said ‘the material is done, but it’s just not there yet.’ Well, that was the jumping off point of when this album truly started taking shape and the songs became what they are now…complete, compact and effective. As the band pushed forward, so did the writing process and a few other processes which made the record and the band stronger. The result is Overtures Of Blasphemy, perhaps the group’s strongest release to date. Jason Suecof lended his considerable talents and attention to detail in making the tracking of the songs as great as they can be and the final mix as sonically brutal, yet as listenable as possible. An arduous process, but one well worth the time and effort.”

Having grown with each subsequent release, Posthuman is a devastating addition to Harm’s Way‘s catalog. “We’ve always stayed true to who we are and allowed the songwriting process to take shape organically from record to record, and as the band has progressed, our sound has become more refined with metal and industrial influences,” states drummer Chris Mills, while guitarist Bo Lueders succinctly sums up what people can expect when they first spin the record: “To a Harm’s Way fan, I would describe ‘Posthuman‘ as a blend of ‘Isolation‘(2011) and ‘Rust‘ (2015), but it’s sonically way more insane. To anyone else, I would simply say it’s full on heavy and full on aggression.”

For a first preview of Posthuman, the single “Human Carrying Capacity” can be streamed at: metalblade.com/harmsway – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–CD

With producer Putney overseeing the tracking at Graphic Nature Audio in Belleville, New Jersey, Posthuman came together easily and fluidly. Having three weeks to track it – the longest they have ever spent on a single full-length – was definitely beneficial. “We spent the first three days there doing pre-production and refining the songs to be the best possible versions of themselves,” says Mills. “The amount of time we had in creating this record meant we were able to experiment and not have to rush with any aspect of it, and I feel it shows in the end product.” The title, Posthuman, aptly summarizes the themes of the record, reflecting a sense of not feeling like a part of the world anymore, whether that be politically, socially, ethically, or emotionally. “It very much pulls from ideas of transcendence, progression, and resilience”, Mills elaborates, “and it’s very much a push back on traditional ideas of the self and self-actualization. ‘Posthuman‘ to us is about progressing above and beyond the confines of what is considered human, in the physical, psychological, and categorical sense.”

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

New Album “Strength In Numbers” Announced By The Haunted

After a strong finish on a series of tour dates across the UK and Central Europe alongside heavy-hitters’ Meshuggah and Arch Enemy respectively, Swedish thrash metal act The Haunted has been busy completing the recording and mixing process of the upcoming 9th studio album effort.

Recorded at Parlour Studios in the UK with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, The Exploited), the album is entitled “Strength In Numbers” and will be released worldwide via Century Media Records on August 25, 2017. More information on the album is expected soon.

Guitarist Ola Englund has checked in with the following comment: “Working on ‘Strength In Numbers’ with Russ Russell as an engineer and producer has been an incredible experience. His attitude and positivity has helped us to truly do our best when recording. He’s just a killer guy to be around!”, before adding: “All the tracking for the album has been completed and Russ is right in the middle of mixing and mastering it. And from the early mixes I’ve heard, it’s shaping up to be insanely heavy. No clean singing, no banjo, no pickup trucks…so fans of country music are gonna hate it, haha! Seriously: Heads are gonna roll. In a good way…”

A video teaser from their recording sessions can now be seen below:

Soul Demise Announces New Album “Thin Red Line”

Red is one of the most frequently used signal colors in science and in our everyday life. Soul Demise talks about a “Thin Red Line” with an impending new album and will for sure address something significant.

On previous album “Sindustry,” these five Germans showed that they are able to look beyond the boundaries of melodic death metal, and this time, they are getting even more ambitious.

Defying conventions, individual instruments were recorded in different studios. Drums were laid down with the help of Christoph Brandes in his Iguana Studios, Dennis Schneider guarded the tracking of the guitar and bass in Mainblast Studios, and the vocals were recorded at Rebound Studios under the watchful eyes of Simon Hammer.

In the end of the process, Tue Madsen in his Antfarm Studios handled mixing duties and succeeded in creating a very powerful sound, which represents all the strengths of the new material. The album’s musical statement is visualized with the artwork by Bjoern Gooßes from Killustrations.

“Thin Red Line“ will be released on May 19th, 2017 via Apostasy Records. The color to mark the date is obvious!

01. Plagued By Fear
02. Desperate Cry
03. Deceive The Masses
04. Empty
05. Live On The Edge
06. Frustration
07. T.R.L.O.S.
08. The Glow Of The Rich Man’s Friend

Faithxtractor Inks Deal With Hells Headbangers

Hells Headbangers today announces the signing of Faithxtractor, and the first fruit of this union shall be Faithxtractor’s third album, slated for release during the second half of 2017.

This third full-length album, tentatively titled “Proverbial Lambs to the Ultimate Slaughter,” is now well into the tracking process at the band’s own Frequenscream Studios. Unconcerned with scene schemes and useless labeling tags, Faithxtractor will continue down the dark path set forth on previous releases while forever moving forward into darkened territory. The prime directive: sick riffs, metal & death.

“We are honored and very pleased to have the opportunity to release our next album through Hells Headbangers,” says Ash Thomas. “Having worked with them personally on other projects, I’ve come to greatly respect their work ethic and dedication. We are extremely proud of the death metal we’ve created for album #3, and it’s very assuring to have a label such as Hell Headbangers behind the coming onslaught!”
