Howling Giant Streaming New Single “The Pioneer”

Writing tunes about space travel, doomed seafarers, and a sentient android hellbent on a camel-killing death crusade, Nashville’s Howling Giant this past August shared part one of the three part “Black Hole Space Wizard” concept record series.

A year later, the nerd power trio returns with part two of the adventure set for release on August 25th, 2017. Playing self indulgent, drop tuned, fuzzed out riffs, “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” is again produced by the band, mixed by Kim Wheeler and mastered by Chris Fasco.

The EP features six cosmic progressive travels of The Pioneer continuing his quest for self-discovery and purpose on the husk planet, Earth. Drummer Zach Wheeler comments:

“Hopefully for our returning fans, it is accepted with open arms and an open mind. As Part 2 of the 3 piece saga, this EP was meant to focus on the travels and trials of The Pioneer, protagonist, and last of mankind. The music reflects his growth and self discovery on a post-apocalyptic planet Earth.

“To new fans/fresh ears, we’d like to invite them into the Black Hole Space Wizard universe through fat stomping riffs, spacey grooves, accessible vocal melody and juicy, pulpy sci-fi madness. We always try to refine our song writing and take one step into new territory with each release, pulling stylistically from whatever inspires us in the moment. Our recorded music is our best interpretation of the sounds we hear in our heads, and our goal is to make our sonic visions clearer with each release.”

Check out a video for first single “The Pioneer” below. Wheeler adds: “This track features a delicious bass riff that grounds the listener before introducing a triumphant chorus and stomping riffs. On this track, you can find Tom heating up the room with some fiery pentatonic exploration.”

TesseracT Premieres New Song & Music Video “Smile” & Kicks Off Tour With Megadeth And Meshuggah

TesseracT premieres a new song and music video titled “Smile”, which the band recorded during the late spring of this year with producer Acle Kahney. Comments vocalist Daniel Tompkins:

“Lyrically, ‘Smile‘ carries a strong and forward sense of irony as we explore and darkest side of the human condition. The song will witness the manifestation of an ‘entity.’ Consciousness survives through constant manipulation only to propagate pessimism and hopelessness. Our entity observes, consumes and evolves, bearing witness to human existence, mimicking our presence in colossal form.”

Check out now “Smile” below.

Adds bassist Amos Williams:

“We chose this track as although it is part of a greater theme, and is in fact towards the end of a story arc, it stands alone very well. We have a solid idea of where we would like to take this track on the next album as it is in no way finished. It is merely one step in a journey. The verses and choruses stand very far apart from each other. There is a tension we wished to build through a minimalist approach, with small phrases that repeat against accompanying parts of different lengths. These undulate, seemingly getting lost against the nonconventional phrasing of the drums. All this is nothing new to TesseracT fans, but this time we have looked to really align the lyrical and musical messages.”

TesseracT is currently out touring with Megadeth, Meshuggah and Lillake:

06/25 Boston, MA – House Of Blues
06/27 Philadelphia, PA – The Fillmore
06/28 Portsmouth, VA – Portsmouth Pavilion

Abhorrent Decimation Posts “Conspire” Music Video

UK-based extreme death metal group Abhorrent Decimation is about to drop a masterclass in dynamic, cutting edge modern death metal in the form of sophomore release, “The Pardoner,” due out worldwide on July 28, 2017 via Prosthetic Records. Pre-orders are available starting today this location.

Abhorrent Decimation also just released a brand new music video for the track “Conspire” – check it out below. Vocalist Ashley Scott commented about the track and video:

“We collaborated with Scott Canty at Dark North Media for this video. Mainly, we wanted something super sleek and simplistic for the first single with a subtle, conceptual gesture built in. I didn’t want an over-complicated narrative for people to have to follow and we felt Scott’s style lent itself to what we had in mind. The subtle conceptual gesture is the explosions of gold near the end of the video. It’s quite unique as I can’t think of many/any death metal bands that have incorporated the use of gold confetti cannons on a video shoot.”

Scott continues, “We always had ‘Conspire’ earmarked as the first single. Conceptually, this track is a real turning point in the records narrative. The characters in our story have happened upon a wealth of gold and their love for money and greed truly sets in. They all begin to plot (conspire) against one another in a tremendously dark way. In a sonic sense, this song displays a lot of the melodic elements we have brought to the table this time around.

“The album has a lot of heavy moments to offer still, ‘Conspire’ included but we have also established a more mature sound in this record. Exploring a deeper musicality to what we are creating. I think people are going to be a little shocked but equally love what we have done here.”
