Onslaught Posts New Album Update, Announces Bloodstock Set

British thrash metal legends Onslaught has checked in with an update confirming that progress on a new album is well underway, despite recently losing two members and that they will debut a new song during their set at this year’s edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival. The post reads as follows:

“The countdown to the new Onslaught Album starts now! Songs have been written, demo tracks recorded and the thrashing machine is racing forward at full throttle. With a release date set before the end of 2018 this is shaping up to be Onslaughts most vicious and hard hitting thrash metal attack yet!

“The lead up for the new Onslaught album quite rightly kicks off at the UK’s most mighty and relevant Heavy Metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air! A Powerful and Brutal show is promised along with the world’s debut of a brand new Onslaught track taken from the forthcoming recording on AFM Records.

“Get your mosh on and get in the pit!

“Onslaught have always loved playing the UK’s finest metal festival, Bloodstock, and this year the show is going to be something special indeed! We’ll see you maniacs at the front!

“On another note both Mic and Iain made the decision to leave Onslaught soon after the last tour finished in order to concentrate on their other bands and projects. We’d like to thank them for all of the hard work they put in over the last few years and wish them all the very best.

“So… saying that, the new guys are kicking major amounts of heavy metal backside right now and they will be announced to you all very soon. Believe me, the band has never sounded so aggressive and so focused! We can’t wait to unleash the new reign of violence for you at Bloodstock. It’s going to be epic and very, very explosive!”

Deathbound Records Signs Talamyus, New Album Title Revealed

Deathbound Records is proud to announce the signing of Montreal viking horde Talamyus.

Formed in 2002 by brothers Benoit and Dany St-Jean, the band has vowed to bring the viking metal sound to a Montreal scene where it was all but absent. With three solid albums under it’s belt, Talamyus combines the epic atmosphere of Amon Amarth, the melody of Iron Maiden and the thrashing power of Kreator. Talamyus infuses old school riffs with modern ferocity and edge.

The band has played support slots and toured alongside the likes of Moonsorrow, Augury, Kataklysm, Tyr, Destruction and 1349 just to name a few. The band has added depth to their lineup with the addition of Étienne Gallo (Augury, Catuvolcus, Hands of Despair, ex-Aborted) on drums.

With this new solidified personnel, the band is now preparing to release the fourth full-length album, “Honour is our Pride, Death is the Reward” through Deathbound Records. Mixing in new influences like Dissection and Enslaved, it will carry a stylistic shift from death/thrash metal to melodic black metal, all while retaining the familiar viking flavor.

“We are sure old and new Talamyus fans will be pleased with the direction we have chosen to take for the next album”, comments guitarist/vocalist and co-founder Benoît St-Jean. “It will still have the Talamyus feel, but with an altered atmosphere. We are very eager to share it with you all!”

The first single for their upcoming album will be release soon. Stay tuned for more information.

Byzantine Posts “The Agonies” Music Video

Byzantine takes its ferocious brand of progressive thrash to new heights with “The Agonies,” the second single off new album “To Release Is To Resolve” (out now via CEN/RED Distribution and available for streaming right here).

The West Virginian band’s monstrous stage presence is further captured in the brand new video for the track which was premiered via Billboard.com. Check it out below.

Behind the thrashing track is a lyrical theme inspired by a social ill that plagues the band’s home state. “The song title ‘The Agonies’ is a street term for the severe withdrawal symptoms from prescription pain pill abuse,” front-man Chris “OJ” Ojeda shares with Billboard. “This subject is extremely personal for me as this problem has infiltrated many good lives of people I know and grew up with.”

See the band live on these dates:

April 17 – Beckley, WV – Muncheez Bar & Grill
April 18 – Parkersburg, WV – Sixpence Pub & Eatery
