Lawnmower Deth Posts Christmas Video, “F U Kristmas” Online

British thrash veterans Lawnmower Deth has teamed up with pop star Kim Wilde to release their very own Christmas single, “F U Kristmas.” The video for the song can be seen below. The relationship between the band and the singer stretches back to 1991 when Lawnmower Deth released a cover of Wilde’s, “Kids In America,” which she later claimed was her favourite version of the song. Last year, Wilde joined Lawnmower Deth on stage to perform “Kids In America,” as well as, “Egg Sandwich” and “Watch Out Grandma,” while Lawnmower Deth will be appearing at Wilde’s Christmas show in Manchester this month (December 22nd.)

Voivod Begins Recording First Full Length New Album In Five Years

Canadian progressive thrash veterans Voivod has announced via a short post on Facebook that they have today entered the studio to begin recording a new album. The message, which simply read: “It is with great enthousiasm that we announce that Voivod is entering the Studio today for the next full length album! Exciting! Stay connected!” means that this will be the band’s first full length album since 2013’s, “Target Earth.” The gap has been filled in the meantime with the 2016 EP, “Post Society,” which comprised of songs released as split singles with Entombed A.D., Napalm Death and At The Gates, as well as a cover of the Hawkwind classic, “Silver Machine” and the title track.

In an interview with Rock Sverige earlier this year, drummer Michel Langevin (AKA, Away) stated that the new record would be a concept album and that it could very likely also be a double album, given the lengths of some of the songs. No further details have been confirmed as of yet.

Calgary Metalfest Raises Funds For Make-A-Wish Alberta

This year’s Calgary Metalfest, held from September 14 – 17, saw a historic line up that included Annihilator, the original line up of Exciter, thrash veterans Razor and Sacrifice, plus sets from The Exalted Piledriver, Toxic Holocaust, Gatekrashor, Disciples of Power, The Order of Chaos, and many more.

The festival organizers are no strangers in giving back to the community, using the event since 2013 to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta. This year’s live charity auction, held in between band sets, had multiple offerings and bidding donors that lead to the festival raising its highest ever amount of over $7,000 to help the children. CMF organizers comment:

“Thank you to everyone who donated and bid on all these items! We were able to smash our previous record from last year by over triple! Over $7000 was raised this year to Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta! This was huge for us! Thank you again to all involved in making this the best auction yet! See you next year!”

Exumer Announces Only U.S. Show Of The Year

German thrash veterans Exumer have confirmed a New York City show on September 21st, 2013 at The Paper Box in Brooklyn. The show will be the only U.S. appearance in 2013 for Exumer and the band’s second visit to the United States. Main support for the evening will be Florida death metal act Malevolent Creation.

Vocalist Mem V. Stein comments: “We are beyond thrilled to be finally playing in NYC. We haven’t played on North American soils since the Thrasho De Mayo festival in L.A., four years ago.
