Lunar Mantra Announces “Genesis” Mini-Album Release

Lunar Mantra’s debut mini-album, “Genesis,” is now set for international release on October 30, 2015 via Invictus Productions. The label comments:

“That this debut recording – the UK trio’s very first – is titled ‘Genesis’ is not without significance, as this five-song, 35-minute work marks the very beginning of a sumptuous soundworld. Anchored firmly within a framework of black metal but suffusing their thrust with generous amounts of dark ambient, Lunar Mantra verily approximate their moniker: forged under fire and water, their music acts as a visionary guide and aural journal of the arcane steps we take, undergoing metamorphosis of divine evolution.”

Lycia Streaming Record Store Day Track “Silver Leaf”

Today Cvlt Nation kicks off the weekend with the cathartic resonance of Lycia’s “Silver Leaf.” The airy psalm comes off the band’s limited edition, split seven-inch with Black Mare, set for release tomorrow via Magic Bullet Records in honor of Record Store Day.

Hailing from Mesa, Arizona, Lycia was initially forged back in the late ’80s and ’90s, confounding ears with ethereal darkwave sound conjurings. Heavily reverbed guitars, dark, wraithlike keyboard tones, and ominous programmed drums pushed the gothic scene forward as their music inspired Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, and many within tangential dark, industrial circles.

MORTA SKULD Release Remastered Debut Through PEACEVILLE

Maybe it’s my misguided Midwestern pride, or just the fact that their music still holds up today, but I’ve always been a fan of Wisconsin’s MORTA SKULD. While they certainly don’t seem out of place with the older bands such as OBITUARY or AUTOPSY, there’s always been something off-kilter in those old records that make […]
