Skálmold To Release New Album, “Sorgir,” This Fall

Icelandic Viking metal band SKÁLMÖLD will release their fifth full length album this fall, entitled “Sorgir.” The album title (which translates to “sorrows”) is appropriate for this concept album that is divided in two parts: The first four songs tell four short stories about tragedies and death. It is called Sagnir (tales). The second chapter called Svipir (ghosts) thickens the plot by telling the same four stories from a different perspective.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Ljósið
2. Sverðið
3. Brúnin
4. Barnið
5. Skotta
6. Gangári
7. Móri
8. Mara

“Sorgir” is available in the following formats:

1 CD Digipak + Bonus Track
2 LP Gatefold in different colors

You can pre-order the album here.

From August 22nd til August 25th SKÁLMÖLD will play four special shows together with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra in their hometown of Reykjavik. Three shows are already completely sold out.

Replacire Inks Deal With Season Of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the official signing of tech group Replacire today. The label comments:

“The explosive, multi-faceted technical metal band is putting the finishing touches on its brand new full-length album to be released by Season of Mist in 2017. Replacire (Eric Alper – guitar, Zach Baskin – bass, Evan Berry – vocals, Poh Hock – live lead guitar, and Pariah – live drums) will air out some of the new material as support to Gorguts on the Oct. 3rd ‘Pleiades Dust’ tour kick-off at Brighton Music Hall in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.”

Guitarist/founder Eric Alper comments on the new material and forthcoming album, “Our goal was to be heavier, darker, and faster than on our first album. The new material has a more cerebral edge, and different layers that reveal themselves with multiple listens. Above all our material must be completely compelling to us while writing, recording, and with every performance. We believe bands operating in that space create the most captivating music, and that’s where we want to be.”

Visigoth launches live video for “Iron Brotherhood” from last month’s “Frost and Fire Festival”

– November 3rd, 2015 –

Last month, Salt Lake City’s Visigoth delivered a full set of no frills, no gimmicks heavy metal to eager fans in Ventura, CA at the “Frost and Fire Festival“. For anyone that missed this epic performance, the band has launched a live video of “Iron Brotherhood” from the show here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X25B-tvPWc

Visigoth comments: “‘Frost and Fire’ was an absolutely incredible experience for us as both a band and as heavy metal fans. We are deeply honoured to have shared the stage with so many phenomenal bands and to have met so many die-hard heavy metal enthusiasts who were in attendance from all over the world. Thank you so much for having us out your way, Ventura. We can’t wait to come back.”

Visigoth released their debut, The Revenant King, earlier this year, giving fans and critics alike “real-deal old-school goods with power and swagger to spare” (Revolver Magazine). While they pay tribute to the titans of steel that left their mark on metal history, the quintet goes above and beyond mere imitation, making their own musical mark on the genre they lovingly embrace. As NPR Music proclaims, “[Visigoth] looks to Manowar, Judas Priest and Manilla Road…for that classic ’80s sound, but the production is decidedly heavier, with mammoth choruses led by Jake Rogers’ regal voice.”

On November 14th, Visigoth will appear at the “Fall of Zion Fest” in their hometown of Salt Lake City. See below for more information, and stay tuned for more dates coming soon!
