Drummer Sean Reinert Exits Cynic – Settlement Over Use Of Band Name Reached

Cynic haven’t been too active since 2015 when a a dispute emerged between frontman/guitarist Paul Masvidal and drummer Sean Reinert. At the time Reinert parted ways with the band, citing growing tensions and a general unhappiness with what he felt were suboptimal performances from Paul Masvidal.

He also mentioned that in order for Masvidal to legally continue performing under the Cynic name, they would need to come to a signed agreement. Drummer Sean Reinert has now announced that such an agreement has reached and it comes with his official exit. States Reinert via Facebook:

“Today I post with a heavy heart, but also a lightened spirit. A settlement has been reached between Paul and I in regards to CYNIC. I am unable to disclose any of the details regarding this agreement but I am at peace with the arrangement. I am going to step aside from CYNIC and continue with my personal projects – Paul is going to continue with CYNIC and his.

I want to take this last Facebook post as an opportunity to humbly thank all of the musicians, engineers, technicians, companies, booking agents, managers, crew, press, labels and friends that I’ve worked with (and will likely continue to) over this past 30-year span.

Most of all – I would like to thank the fans, who to this day still blow me away with their loyalty and love. You’ve always been the inspiration and the fuel for the machine!

To Paul, I sincerely wish him and the musicians he hires nothing but the best.

Love,
Sean”

Last Leaf Down Posts “Ghost Trails” Music Video

Last Leaf Down has a new single titled “Ghost Trails” out now – check it out via the music video below. “Ghost Trails” is taken off the band’s forthcoming second album “Bright Wide Colder,” set to be released on March 31st via Lifeforce Records.

Lifeforce comments on the album’s title and sound: “This title reveals a meaning behind the plain words, without explaining too much in advance. The music is no different. Quickly, listeners have an inkling of the intentions of the musicians from Switzerland.

“However, you cannot quickly feel and process all shades and subtleties. Last Leaf Down’s songwriting has to be characterized as harmonically, valuably and introverted. The second full length of the quartet spots existential emotions. ‘Bright Wide Colder’ goes even further than the debut album from 2014, ‘Fake Lights.'”

Non Opus Dei Announces Upcoming Split, Album Releases

Non Opus Dei has checked in with the following announcement about working on an upcoming new release:

“The band is working on the songs for a new album. We have just recorded three new tracks. We decided to go for an old school style live recording in the studio (with all the musicians and their amps in the same room), with no overdubs, and no post-production tweaking. The result is amazing and we are convinced that this is the right sound for our full album.

“The three abovementioned tracks recorded live in Bat Studio in Olsztyn will probably be published as a split in September 2013 – as the herald of our new album. We have also started playing live again. Below are some videos from our gigs.”

Dordeduh Releases New Music Video For "Dojana"

Prophecy Productions is proud to present the first video clip of Dordeduh for the song “Dojana,” taken from the band’s debut album “Dar De Duh,” due out out November 13th in North America. The song was visualized by the musicians and director Costin Chioreanu inimitably, and the end result can be viewed below. The band also comments:

“Finally, the first video of Dordeduh is out. For the setting, we chose an old, quite unknown Dacian fortress, placed deep into the Apuseni mountains. The place is surrounded by an unusual forest, called locally ‘the forest without a face’. This place was the subject of many mysterious stories of people disappearing into the forest without a trace. Fortunately, during the shootings, nothing unusual happened. We are very happy with the final result, and Costin Chioreanu did a great job. Enough describing – we let you to enjoy it!”
