Saxon Posts New Video, “They Played Rock And Roll” Online

British heavy metal legends Saxon has posted a new video online for the song, “They Played Rock And Roll.” You can check it out below. The song and video is a tribute to Motorhead and the tour they embarked on together in 1979/80, something particularly poignant given the recent passing of former Motorhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke. It is also the second single from their forthcoming new album, “Thunderbolt,” which will be released on February 2nd through Militia Guard.

“The song tells the story of Saxon’s very first tour in 1979 with Motörhead. I want people to get a flavour of what it was like in the UK in 79/80 for Saxon and Motörhead at the start of the 80s musical revolution” says frontman Biff Byford.

Amberian Dawn Unveils New Album “Darkness Of Eternity”

Amberian Dawn today unveils the initial details for an upcoming studio album including artwork, release date, and track listing. Band mastermind Tuomas Seppälä comments:

“‘Darkness of Eternity’ is one of the most emotional AD-albums so far. It’s got some really bombastic songs in mood of dark & symphonic melodic metal and in contrast to that also some really poppy songs too. For me it’s really hard to stick in one genre only and I constantly want to compose different kinds of songs!”

The “Magic Forest” story continues on this album and Tuomas explains: “The song ‘Symphony Nr.1. Part 1 – The Witchcraft’ told the story on the last record ‘Innuendo’ before the time of ‘Magic Forest.’ The little girl is a healer and village elders buried her alive in a coffin. The track ‘Symphony Nr.1. Part 2 – Darkness of Eternity’ on our upcoming record ‘Darkness of Eternity’ tells the story of the girl lying in the coffin trying to get out. Darkness is asking her to dance the waltz of eternity. The story will continue in Part 3 and we will tell you how she became the Magic Forest’s evil witch!”

New album “Darkness of Eternity” will be available on November 10th, 2017 via Napalm Records and the full track listing reads as follows:

1. I’m The One
2. Sky Is Falling
3. Dragonflies
4. Maybe
5. Golden Coins
6. Luna My Darling
7. Abyss
8. Ghostwoman
9. Breathe Again
10. Symphony Nr. 1, part 2 – Darkness Of Eternity
11. Anyone (Bonus Track)

Centuries Of Decay Posts New Song “Wings Of Death”

Toronto based quintet Centuries Of Decay will unleash a debut, self-titled concept album this coming August 4th, 2017. Drummer Derrick Doucette comments:

“We’ve often thought about the fragility of civilization throughout history and the idea of events repeating itself. With that in mind, our concept album tells the story of society being born, corrupt and destroyed in an endless cycle. It can be taken as a literal piece of fiction, or even a social commentary. It also comes from more personal issues such as depression, disillusionment and failure.”

Today band reveals second single “Wings of Death,” a song about religious and political propaganda and how its used to draw lines between people and nations. The lyrical content of this song draws from influences from George Orwell’s 1984.

The track was written as two halves, a slower heavier groove, then kicking into fast paced death metal with some vocal harmonies by guitarists Rob McAllister and Devin Doucette.

Centuries Of Decay Announces Self-Titled Album

We live on the layers of deep time and history, strata of times past; life literally depends on centuries of decay. It’s fitting then that Centuries Of Decay builds on the metal that has come before to create the metal of the future.

The Toronto-based quintet will bring out a debut self-titled album this coming August 4th, 2017.

Today the band reveals a first single titled “Rise,” which is a track about pure rebellion and the rise of extreme opposition. It is the band’s most brutal song and is a tribute to the death/black metal that has been an influence in the past.

Gemini Syndrome Releases “Sorry, Not Sorry” Video

Gemini Syndrome just debuted the “Sorry, Not Sorry” official music video. taken off the “Memento Mori” album. In addition to the video coming online, look for Gemini Syndrome on the of the “Half God, Half Devil” tour with In This Moment, Motionless In White, and Avatar later this month. The band comments:

“Our brand-new music video for ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ tells the story about a husband and wife who have lost themselves in vanity and greed. The woman injects herself with large painful needles and cuts her face, while the man chops up a briefcase full of cash and snorts it like drugs. As the wife sits down with her husband at the dinner table, she looks cartoonish, while the husband is sweating over a large mirrored plate of money. Things then really start to take a turn for the worse for them both and you gotta watch to find out their fate.

“The song itself shines a light on the collective mental illness that our society seems to be infected with. Now more than ever, it’s so easy to lose ourselves in a false virtual reality that glorifies materialism and self-seeking satisfaction. We’ve become ironic memes of ourselves, social zombies lost in our devices, where tangible human interaction has become unnecessary and burdensome. We’re desensitized from only seeing others and ourselves through self-imposed filters. It’s time to wake up from the spell and look ourselves, and each other, in the eye.

“We are also extremely grateful to be a part of the ‘Half God, Half Devil’ Tour with our friends In This Moment, Motionless In White, and Avatar. It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing package and share the stage with such great bands, and good friends, old and new. If there are still tickets available in your city, get them now, as shows have been selling out every night!”

Vesen Premieres Pre-Release Full-Album Stream Of Upcoming New Album “Rorschach”

Norwegian blackened thrashers Vesen premiere the pre-release full-album stream of the band’s upcoming new album “Rorschach”, which will arrive in stores December 16th, via Soulseller Records.

Check out now “Rorschach” in its entirety below.

Says the label of it:

“Quite uncommon for the genre, the successor of 2012’s ‘This Time It’s Personal’ is a concept album and though it may sound progressive, the music is actually more regressive in a sense. But of course Vesen explore new ideas and grounds as well and head onwards in all directions at the same time, creating a unique and matured blend. ‘Rorschach’ is a concept album, certainly lyrically, less so musically. It started out as a concept spanning four albums, but through the process of working with it we found that it fit better on a single album. Overall, it deals with themes quite common in the Vesen universe, which is mental problems. Hence the name of the album, ‘Rorschach’, which is a psychological test used to test a person’s potentially underlying thought disorders, used in mental health facilities. So without going into too much detail, ‘Rorschach’ tells the story of a person trying to escape his/her problems, and then it builds from there.”

Vow Of Thorns Announces New Album “Farewell To The Sun”

For the past six years, the Ontario-dwelling black metal doom fusionists making up Vow Of Thorns have been conceptualizing albums and pushing the boundary between aggressive and emotional.

What once served as an anagram for Kevin Hawthorne’s solo work is now a joint effort with Dustin Richards. Their new album “Farewell To The Sun” is set for release on July 15th, 2016 and follows the 2013 EP “Forest Dweller.”

Check out the album’s opening track “Meeting On The Astral Plane” below. Guitarist D. Richards comments:

“‘Meeting on the Astral Plane’ tells the story of one man’s escape from physical reality to a place of infinite possibilities; an existence free of mortal boundaries. The escape, however, is only temporary and he must return to his lowly existence and face himself, which he does in the following track ‘Great Abomination’.

“His experience on the astral plane leads him to believe that death may be the ultimate escape. As our protagonist’s experience progresses so does the music. From the triumphant march of the opening riff to the crushing doom encased ending.”

Zealotry Announces “The Last Witness” Album Release

Lavadome Productions has announced the addition of Boston-based death metal unit Zealotry to its roster. The label has set an April 22nd release for the band’s sophomore album, “The Last Witness.” Lavadome comments:

“An album that hits on all fronts with a progressive, yet schooled brand of death metal mastery, ‘The Last Witness’ is carved from the same flesh as some of the genre’s most important releases. Zealotry is a band that walks its own path, one that’s paved by a desire to push death metal to new levels, while staying true to the genre’s traditional elements.

“‘The Last Witness’ brings to life a series of massive and unsurpassable musical movements dense and complex enough to require repeated listens. The album tells the story of humanity’s end, as imagined by Arthur C. Clarke (among others). It speaks of our species’ forced ascension and assimilation, compelled by the unseen, unknowable mind that tends to the cosmic clockwork and has decided the fates of countless other races.

“Lavadome is proud to present such irreversible art which stands out above the norm instead of following it in hopes there are still ears out here, thirsty to listen on repeat and slowly uncovering the mesmerizing scales of the nature presented by ‘The Last Witness.'”

1. Arc of Eradication
2. Heralding the Black Apostle
3. Cybernetic Eucharist
4. Progeny Omega
5. Mutagenesis
6. Yliaster
7. The Last Witness
8. Silence
