New Album Recordings Underway As Graveshadow Enteres Studio

Recently completing a west coast run of shows with Russia’s Arkona and Norway’s Sirenia, Sacramento’s Graveshadow – a male-backed symphonic metal band that incorporates doom, thrash and Goth metal influences – has entered the studio to begin recording the sophomore album and debut for M-Theory Audio.

The band settled into The Captains Quarters in Ventura, California with producer (and Night Demon guitarist) Armand John Anthony.

“The idea came to record with Armand while we were on tour with Night Demon. I got to talking with him and he showed me some of his production work,” explains Graveshadow guitarist Will Walker. “What we really want to accomplish on this album is more of a raw and organic sound while still maintaining the symphonic elements of the music. It was a natural fit. The gear, the room, everything is working out to realize exactly what we were looking for. Armand is an absolute joy to work with and we feel he’s really helping us make this the best it can be.”

Recording will continue over the month of July with plans to release in early 2018 via the new deal with M-Theory Audio. Stay tuned for updates.

Nightwish Releases “Alpenglow” Live Video

“We were here!” – once again, the members of Nightwish carve their name into the walls of music history and after touring for a year and a half throughout every corner of the world, their time has come to immortalize the “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” tour on DVD.

On December 9th, the symphonic metal visionaries are set to release their new live milestone “Vehicle Of Spirit,” featuring not only two full concerts, but also plenty of bonus material. Today, they unveil a second appetizer with live hymn “Alpenglow.”

Nightwish issued this statement: “I would say the main part of the DVD are those two shows, both Wembley and Tampere. Wembley is mentioned first due to its recognizability and legendary status. I remember the show being very special, both a goal achieved, and a starting point.

“The crowd was heartwarming. The presence of Richard Dawkins on stage was just mind-blowing. The overall experience was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill ride! The show in Ratina Stadion, Tampere, was a home crowd specialty (for 4/6th of the band) with the biggest stage production we’ve ever had. A lovely atmosphere throughout the concert, with many same faces in the front row as there were 15 years ago. Heartfelt.”

Vesania premieres new video for “Notion” via NoCleanSinging.com

– December 15th, 2015 –

Poland’s Vesania has launched a new video for “Notion“, directed by Aleksander Ikaniewicz and taken from their 2014 album, Deus Ex Machina! To watch the 6+ minute video epic from the symphonic black metal act that features current and former members of Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Vader, and Decapitated, head over to NoCleanSinging.com

Vesania‘s Orion (guitars and vocals) comments: “This video we made for ‘Notion’ is not a typical music video clip. It’s more of a motion picture, and it’s over 6 minutes long, so get ready for lots of details. It’s a cinematic variation based on the idea behind the song. It tells a story of a follower, a story of being fascinated and making things you dream of, real for yourself. Becoming what you once called an idol for yourself. And then, the perspective changes once you reach this new different point of view. You realize you have more power than you can handle and at the same time, the art you create is just a way of fighting things you’re too weak to fight anywhere else. There’s a deceit in being the audience and the actor at once.”

Recorded at Sound Division Studio, Deus Ex Machina is the fourth full-length from the Polish juggernaut Vesania. Translated from ancient Greek tragedy as “god from the machine”, the album title – plus overall theme of the record – tells a story of hopelessness: the characters are powerless to change their doomed fates. When paired with equally bleak music, the result is “another chilly, bleak, and thunderous collection of keyboard-orchestrated blackened metal expositions that do away with the roofs, lay waste to the crops, and yank the dead from the earth with the subtlety of an F5 tornado” (AllMusic.com).

Vesania line-up:
Orion – guitars and vocals
Daray – drums
Siegmar – synths and samples
Heinrich – bass
Valeo – guitars
