New Concert Film “Paris” Announced By Rammstein

Today, the official pre-sale for the concert film “Rammstein: Paris” begins ahead of the worldwide release on May 19. Get it at this location.

The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the Made in Germany tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed Rammstein concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators.

Featuring 22 songs from the band’s entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing Rammstein’s energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.

Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as The Prodigy, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and also Rammstein. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast, and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in “Rammstein: Paris,” he celebrates this from the very first minute.

Rammstein plays 22 songs (128 minutes), ranging from “Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?,” the first song from the very first album, to “Frühling in Paris” from the last studio album “Liebe ist für alle da.”

Artistically and dramaturgically ingeniously staged, like an overwhelming video clip, “Rammstein: Paris” is one of the best rock concert films of all time. “Absolument.”

A first impression of this masterpiece can be seen right here:

Century Media Records Inks Deal With The Lurking Fear

Something is lurking in the shadows…

The newly launched Swedish death metal group The Lurking Fear has signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records and is currently working on a debut album, expected to be released later this year.

Composed of members/ex-members of illustrious and influential acts like At The Gates, The Haunted, Skitsystem, Disfear or God Macabre, The Lurking Fear isn’t just another retro all-star project, but a real band of five death metal lifers, who organically got together in order to celebrate the metal breed closest to their roots as well as their hearts.

The Lurking Fear checked in with the following comment: “We are a Death Metal band. Not your average new wave of old school Death Metal band. We play Death Metal from the heart with pure emotional impact and a focused artistic vision. This is the music we live and breathe. Always have, always will.

“We have all played in various other bands for over 25 years and we just want to spew out the music that we want to hear. When we get together this is what comes out of naturally, because we share the exact same reference points. We love “Seven Churches” and “Mental Funeral” for the exact same reasons.

“We want our death metal ugly, twisted and possessed. We miss the urgency, intensity and ‘realness’ in a lot of the modern Death Metal, therefore it is natural for us to stray away from the streamlined sounds of today, but rather focus on bringing sheer, natural weirdness and horror back to the table…”

Citing common inspiration by bands like Autopsy, Possessed, early Death, Repulsion, early Morbid Angel, Slaughter, Bathory, early Slayer or also Master/Death Strike, The Lurking Fear is currently working on a debut 7″ EP, which is expected to be released in late May (Via newly founded Swedish label Moondawn. Pre-order details soon, limited to 500 copies!), and will then follow up with an album release later in the summer.

The Lurking Fear are:

Adrian Erlandsson – Drums
Andreas Axelson – Bass
Tomas Lindberg – Vocals
Fredrik Wallenberg – Guitars
Jonas Stålhammar – Guitars

Fall Of Summer 2017 Lineup Announced

The Fall of Summer team is very pleased to add five new names to its 2017 lineup taking place Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th of September by the Torcy lake, situated 30 kilometres east of Paris. The festival’s organizers comment:

“With over 45 years difference between the newest and the oldest band, we have decided to introduce them in chronological order.

“First of all we are very excited to announce two mythical bands formed in the late 60s who have been a big influence for many metal artists for almost half a century. We are glad that the American occult rock band Coven will play their very first show in France at Fall of Summer and thrilled that one of our biggest national prides, the French progressive rock band Magma also joins us this year.

“Coming from the 80’s, we’re proud to welcome the American cult thrash metal band Morbid Saint who’ll play for the first time in France. We’re also thrilled that the emblematic Swedish black Metal band Marduk joins forces with us.

“To close this announcement, we invite those who would not know them, to discover Au-Dessus, as those young Lithuanians playing post-black metal since 2014, definitely deserve your attention.”

Feral Finishes Writing New Album Due Out This Year

Following the release of the “From The Mortuary” EP back in December, Swedish death metal group Feral is glad to announce today that the writing for the next full-length album is finally finished. Feral issued this statement:

“We have been working hard since the release of ‘Where Dead Dreams Dwell’ to not once again end up with a four year gap between albums, but you can all rest assured that this is not something that has been hastily thrown together in order to meet a deadline.

“On contrary, we have put more time in than ever before to fine-tune the material as much as possible in an early stage. ‘Where Dead Dreams Dwell’ is a though album to follow for us, since we are extremely satisfied with the final results which we landed on. But there is a togetherness in the new material that can only come from playing together for a long time, and doing it often. We are a rehearsing band, and would never write songs in the studio as we record them.

“At the moment we are rehearsing and making the finishing touches to all of the new songs, which are 15 in total. Most of them are already sounding like they should with no further tweaking needed and once all of the material is 100% know by heart and well thought through we will book the studio to record. After recording the songs that fit together the best will but assembled to make out the album. Some fitting album titles have been thrown around, but this will be announced at a later time.

“The new songs range from pure Swedish Death Metal with eerie leads to crushing mid-tempo and slower track as well as some of the fastest and most ‘technical’ songs Feral has ever put out, all with our punk and thrash influences clearly imbued.

“Our hope is to have the new album out during 2017, but have in mind that a lot of the things surrounding a new release are out of the bands hands, such as formats and release dates. So no more precise info can be given at the moment.

“Furthermore we have other plans for 2017 as well; last year’s EP ‘From the Mortuary’ will finally see a vinyl release! More info in this is to be revealed soon, but it will be a really good-looking and sounding piece with a dedicated vinyl mastering. We will also participate on some very promising compilation- and split LPs with other really great bands from Sweden.

“Dead eyes see what the living can only dream.”

Ghost Wins Swedish Grammis Award In “Best Hard Rock / Metal” Category

After Megadeth took home the Best Metal Performance award at the 2017 U.S. Grammy ceremony, Ghost has won the Best Hard Rock / Metal category at the Swedish Grammis awards held Tuesday night in Stockholm. The nominated bands were as follows:

Amaranthe – “Maximalism”
Cult Of Luna & Julie Christmas – “Mariner”
Dark Tranquillity – “Atoma”
Ghost – “Popestar”
In Flames – “Battles”

In Flames commented via Facebook: “Congrats to Ghost for winning “Hard Rock/Metal Album of the Year”. Thanks for the nomination and good times, Grammis! #IFBattles17.”

Video of Papa Emeritus accepting the award can be seen below. Notably, he is the only member of the band to appear, fueling speculation the nameless ghouls are in for a reboot, either entirely changing out the lineup or perhaps simply changing the costumes and names for the next release.

Last year, Ghost also won the U.S. Grammy for Best Metal Performance.

Guitars, bass, and lead vocals were recorded by the band in their own studio, Acacia Avenue Recordings. “We started recording the drums in late June 2015 and did the last recordings with vocals in June 2016. So, we spent roughly a year in the studio with ‘The Shadow Archetype‘,” explains Palmen. “In my opinion, the production is our strongest so far.
