Arch Enemy Postpones North American Tour With Goatwhore Until 2019

Swedish death metal veterans Arch Enemy has announced that their scheduled tour of North America, which was to also include Goatwhore and Uncured, has been pushed back to 2019. A statement from the band reads as follows:

“We very much regret to inform you that we will be postponing our return to North America until 2019. We were looking forward to seeing everyone again this fall and to share our stage with Goatwhore and Uncured, but we have been forced to cancel this run due to reasons beyond our control. It’s very unfortunate timing, but we cannot wait to come back and rock US soil again next year and see all your faces! Thank you for understanding and as always for your support of Arch Enemy! Ticket and VIP refunds are available at point of purchase.”

Says Goatwhore drummer Zack Simmons: “Fuckin lame but oh well. Out of our control. Stay tuned for some tour news very soon!”

Rotting Christ Enters The Studio To Work On New Album

The Greek veterans of Rotting Christ have entered the studio for the recording of their brand new album, which will be released early 2019 via Season of Mist. The album will be produced by vocalist Sakis Tolis himself, and Jens Bogren will again take on the job of mixing and mastering.

Regarding the new record, Sakis comments: “After almost two years on the road promoting and supporting our latest album ‘Rituals’, the time has come to create it’s follower. An album that will be inspired by the intense artistic worries which arose during those two years on the road, and which seems to be our darkest and most mystical influences yet in our career! Thanks for the support all those years, we will not disappoint you!”

After a long stint of inactivity, Swiss grindcore band Mumakil has started off the new year by announcing their disbandment:

Hello there. Wish we could start the year with better news but unfortunately it is time to announce that the beast is no more. MUMAKIL IS DEAD. Let’s just say that the momentum is long gone. We have all moved on to new horizons. Thank you for showing up over all those years, thank you for the support, the headbangs and of course the hangovers! You are family. Grind on.

While promising new music in 2016, the band’s last release was “Flies Will Starve,” issued by Relapse Records back in 2013.

Sar Isatum Signs w/ Exalted Woe Records & Death Portal Studio For Debut Album

Having unleashed their debut album “Shurpu” digitally on November 17th, Denver symphonic black metal trio Sar Isatum announce their signing to both Exalted Woe Records and Death Portal Studio for distribution of the physical CD release of the full length on December 22nd.

Check out now “Shurpu” in its entirety below.

“We are honored to announce that we made a distribution deal for the first print of our album with Death Portal Studio and Exalted Woe Records. They have a lot of great bands on each of their rosters and we thank Zach and Anthony for their support and contributions to this release.” comments drummer JP Dalkhu.

Creating music for themselves, not copying what has come before, fans of various styles of black metal will find much to appreciate in Sar Isatum’s debut album “Shurpu”. The release features seven blistering tracks that are ethereal, nefarious, abhorrent, and cryptic. The concept of the album is a loose collection of stories told from an omnipotent source to establish Sar Isatum, the Lord’s of fire perception of the world and thusly announce their entry into it through “Shurpu” a purification by fire.

“The album is a visceral piece of music, tight aggressive black metal that has punishingly brutal moments. The haunting keys give space to the musical assault and provide atmosphere with vocals that invoke a spirit of war.” adds Dalkhu.

Spawn Of Possession Calls It Quits

Swedish death metal group Spawn Of Possession has officially called it quits, issuing this brief message to fans:

“Last week we decided to put SoP to rest due to several problems, mostly because we now realize we don’t have the time to either finish a beast like a new album properly or do anything else with SoP for a long time.

“So the band has pretty much just faded away at this point. Anyway! We are very thankful for all the support we had through the years! Cheers!”

The group’s last major release was the “Incurso” full-length album via Relapse Records back in 2012.

Odyssey Crowd Funding 10th Anniversary Concert Blu-Ray

Spokane instrumental trio Odyssey just launched a GoFundMe campaign to film the band’s upcoming 10th anniversary concert. You can take part here, and the band also comments:

“This year marks 10 years that Odyssey has been a band! To celebrate and commemorate this milestone, we want to do something special for both us and our fans.

“We have the opportunity to film our 10 year anniversary show and release it on Blu-ray! It would be shot in 1080p with multiple cameras. The audio would be recorded directly from the soundboard. This would not be bootleg footage but rather a polished and professional product. The show will take place on August 5th at The Big Dipper in Spokane, WA.

“Let’s cut to the chase. We’re hoping to raise $1,600. $1,000 is to pay the crew and $600 would get us 100 copies of the Blu-ray.

“We’re doing 1 reward level: $20 for a copy of the finished Blu-ray. If you wish to pay more, that is greatly appreciated. If you can only spare a couple dollars, we’d be grateful as well – it all helps!

“Thank you for your time, your consideration, and, above all else, your support of Odyssey.”

Pro-Pain Vocalist Assaulted And Robbed In Brussels

Pro-Pain has officially cancelled upcoming tour dates after vocalist / bassist Gary Meskil was violently assaulted and robbed in Brussels earlier this week. The band issued this update via Facebook:

“This past Monday night, Gary was the victim of a robbery and attempted murder in Brussels. He was pick-pocketed of cash, credit card, and passport, struck on the head with an ice pick and then subsequently attacked by a gang of individuals.

“The police have confiscated more than one weapon and they have established the identities of some of the suspects. Gary was quickly admitted to ICU after suffering head trauma (including several fractures to his face and jaw) and massive blood loss.

“Since then he has stabilized and is trying his best to recover, but future surgery may be necessary. We regret to inform the fans that the shows scheduled for Roeselare (July 7th) and Osnabruck (July 8th) are now officially cancelled.

“We will make sure to keep you all informed of any other cancellations and on Gary’s progress. Thanks for your support at this difficult time.”
