Atala To Release New Album “Labyrinth of Ashmedai” January 26, 2018

After years of turning heads in the subterranean metal scene, Twentynine Palms, CA-based sludge/doom metal group Atala are rising above with the release of their most confident album yet – the full-length crusher Labyrinth of Ashmedai – out January 26, 2018 via Salt of the Earth Records.

onjuring grit-laced sludge inspired by their barren and often oppressive desert backdrop, ATALA grips the listener with reflective, crushing doom atmospheres dripping with stoner rock and experimental influences to boot. As with their last record, Shaman’s Path of the Serpent, Labyrinth of Ashmedai was produced by Billy Anderson, recognized for his work with colossal bands such as Sleep, Melvins and Mastodon.

Horrendous Announces New Album & Signs With Season of Mist

East coast death metal outfit Horrendous have announced their signing to Season of Mist for the release of their currently untitled fourth album. The new outing follows 2015’s Anareta. Says Horrendous via Facebook about the album:

“The time has finally arrived to announce our newest creation to the world. It was a painful birth, brimming with the paranoia and malaise of our times, and has since matured into a sprawling colossus that consumed us as we constructed it. It is our monument to uncertainty, to the mad perseverance of the soul and its tired labors, and the redemptive cycle of failure and resiliency–another stone rolled to the peak, demanding all of our abilities, and we can’t wait to watch it fall.”

Recording will commence at guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring’s Subterranean Watchtower Studios. No release date has yet been confirmed.

Subterranean Masquerade Posts “Nomad” Lyric Video

Six weeks prior to releasing upcoming album “Vagabond,” Israeli / Norwegian prog metal band Subterranean Masquerade releases the lyric video for new single “Nomad,” which is the second track of the upcoming opus.

Tomer Pink (guitars) comments: “‘Nomad’ is one of the earliest tracks written for ‘Vagabond.’ It’s heavy, progressive, mixing all the elements from which this album is made of and kicks ass live 😉 The lyrics tell the story of visiting a far away place, trying to run away from inside demons until eventually facing them.”

The lyric video was created with the talent of Rafael Ortega. With the band now signed to the Swedish label Vicisolum Records for a two album deal, “Vagabond” is set for release on September 1st.

Subterranean Masquerade features members of Orphaned Land and Green Carnation, mixing prog rock with psychedelic 70’s sounds and full force death metal. The album was mixed by Christer Andre Cederberg (Anathema, Tristania, etc.) and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The artwork was created by Ben Danzig and Travis Smith.

1. Place For Fairytales
2. Nomad
3. Waves
4. Carousal
5. Kippur
6. Daled Bavos
7. As You Are
8. Hymn Of The Vagabond
9. Space Oddity (David Bowie tribute)
