Essence Of Sorrow Recruits New Vocalist Germán Pascual

Essence Of Sorrow – the Finnish/Swedish band founded by Jani Stefanovic (Solution .45, Miseration) released debut album “Reflections Of The Obscure” in 2006 featuring both Mats Leven (ex. Yngwie Malmsteen, Gus G, ex.Therion, Candlemass) and Christian Palin (ex. Adagio) on vocals.

Due to Mats and his busy schedule, Christian Palin was set to take care of the live duties. The band got off with a promising start doing shows in Scandinavia and northern parts of Europe. Although the band had a promising future ahead it would not be without bumps, which sadly resulted in putting the band on ice.

The plan was always to put the band up in motion again, and that time has come and after a few years of silence. Essence Of Sorrow has a new line up and is working on new material planned to hit the shops in 2016.

Today the band announces the recruitment of Germán Pascual on vocals and Jaakko Nikko on bass. The current lineup consists of:

Germán Pascual – Vocals (ex. Mind´s Eye, ex. Narnia, ex, Empire 21)
Jani Stefanovic – Guitars (Solution .45, Miseration)
Tom Gardiner – Guitars (Red Eleven, Hateform, ex. Solution .45)
Rolf Pilve – Drums (Solution .45, Stratovarius)
Jaakko Nikko – Bass (Reversion, System Horizon

Stratovarius Releasing New Album “Eternal”

Stratovarius has broken its year long silence to reveal the band is in the studio completing a new record, with the release preceded by a performance at Wacken Open Air Festival and followed by a full tour. “Eternal” will drop on August 14th, 2015. EarMusic also comments:

“The trilogy of albums ‘Polaris,’ ‘Elysium’ and ‘Nemesis’ were released close to each other as the consequence of the renewed creative energy the band gained following the arrival of new members to support the historical members Kotipelto, Johansson and Michael.

“The previous three albums by Stratovarius showcased the many talents of guitarist Mattias Kupianen (prolific songwriter and producer of all the albums, including ‘Eternal’), virtuoso bass player Lauri Porra and, on the third of the three, the young talent Rolf Pilve, one of the best drummer of his generation who had to replace Jörg Michael after the latter decided to move into a new role in Stratovarius management.

“The most recent album ‘Nemesis’ included the single ‘Unbreakable,’ which became one of the most streamed songs ever released by Stratovarius. Kotipelto and Johansson proudly carry the torch of the glorious Stratovarius tradition, but now many fans of the band consider the current line-up ‘classic Stratovarius.’ The new album ‘Eternal’ has been the longest album in the making from the band.”

“Since ‘Polaris’ we have released a new studio album pretty much every two years,” reflects Jens Johansson, “but after ‘Nemesis,’ we all decided to take a little bit of time off after we finished the world tour. Now we’re all tanned and rested and it’s about fucking time to get back into the saddle. Everybody has been busy the last few months writing lots of new songs, and only the best has been recorded for ‘Eternal.’”

New Music Video “Transcend” Released By Thought Chamber

U.S. progressive metal act Thought Chamber released a new music video for the track “Transcend.” The song appears on the band’s latest album “Psykerion: The Question,” which is available now via InsideOutMusic.

“The making of the ‘Transcend’ video confirmed my belief that TC will be a musical force to be reckoned with in 2014,” says Thought Chamber co-founder, guitarist/composer Michael Harris. “It was the first time we were actually all in the same room together and it felt great. We wanted a no frills video showing us performing our 10 minute epic and finally giving our fans a true visual of the group. This video is truly all about the music. Chris Bowers did a great job capturing the vibe we wanted and editing the video.”

In related news, Thought Chamber will soon be debuting as a live-act by performing at the prestigious ProgPower USA Festival in Atlanta, September 10-14, 2014 alongside label mates Pain of Salvation and Leprous, Stratovarius, Jon Oliva’s Pain, Pagan’s Mind and a host of other international prog mega bands. ProgPower USA is already officially sold out.
