Imonolith, featuring current and former members of Threat Signal, Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Project, preview a demo version of their new track “Dig“. The group began tracking their debut release earlier this year with more details still to be announced.

Comments the band:

“Hey everyone,

We’re working hard on our music and the process of getting it out to you as soon as possible.

This is a song (Demo Version) called ‘Dig‘. It’s a song about shit talkers and the importance of ignoring them. The message of the lyrics are to do what you think is best for you, do what you love with your life and leave the negative people behind. What they think is none of your business anyways 😉

Stay posted for more news soon….”

Imonolith Premiere Demo Version Of New Track “The Reign”

Imonolith premiere a demo version of their new track “The Reign“. The band are comprised of current and ex-members of Threat Signal, Devin Townsend Project, Strapping Young Lad.

States the group:

“‘The Reign‘ is about how society can negatively influence the mass majority. Life is all about living it your own way and not trying to be someone you’re not. Be yourself. This may be an aggressive and heavy sounding song, but it has a positive underlying message.

This is just ONE side to Imonolith‘s overall sound. ‘The Reign‘ represents part of the heavier side of our music. On the flip side, you can expect a lot of melody (vocally and instrumentally), with vocal hooks, memorable guitar riffs and creative, plotting rhythms throughout our music. Imonolith was based and built off of being versatile. Stay posted for more music to come soon!”

Devin Townsend & Machine Head’s Robb Flynn Speak On “Beyond The Pale” Allegedly Lifting A Strapping Young Lad Riff

The social media “riff police” has taken to calling out Machine Head’s Robb Flynn for allegedly stealing a riff off of Strapping Young Lad‘s track “Love?” in their newly released single, “Beyond The Pale“. Check out both tracks below, and read Townsend and Machine Head vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn’s discussion on the matter.

People asking me about riff similarities: I don’t have an opinion really. I’ve written riffs my whole career that sound like something else.

— Devin Townsend (@dvntownsend) November 17, 2017

I’ve used whole themes from other albums, movies or soundtracks. Art is a collage of your experiences, you taking clippings and reassemble.

— Devin Townsend (@dvntownsend) November 17, 2017

Heres the best part about comparison of MH new song to ‘Love’ I basically ripped off the SYL chorus from this song: https://t.co/0QWpBGowBD

— Devin Townsend (@dvntownsend) November 17, 2017

Shout out to @dvntownsend for being so cool. The Riff Police pulled me over, I got a $300 infraction for that one!! Like Dime bag always used to tell me “we’re all just sharing riffs man”. https://t.co/DXO8BmqTLR

— Robb Flynn (@TheGeneralMH) November 17, 2017

Got a lot of respect for you Devin, super talented musician, amazing producer (as the palaces burn production crushes all!)

And while I would proudly admit that I stole a Riff from you… Was just a happy accident.

Riff on brother!! https://t.co/G8NXNcJ9Ln

Soilwork Posts “Death Resonance” Trailer

Soilwork just released a third “Inside Death Resonance” video trailer in which singer Björn “Speed” Strid talks about the band’s upcoming special collection of rarities, “Death Resonance,” which is due out August 19th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast.

You can pre-order “Death Resonance” as CD digipak or clear vinyl at this location. The gloomy cover art was created by Mnemic guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (Volbeat, Carcass, Scar Symmtery, Strapping Young Lad).

Commented singer Björn “Speed” Strid: “The cover for ‘Death Resonance’ is made by Mircea Eftemie and in many ways he managed to capture what we went through while recording ‘The Ride Majestic:’ the sorrow, the close encounter with death, the aftermath and also the existential cogitation that came with it.

“It links those albums together, even though ‘Death Resonance’ contains unreleased material from 2005 and forward. The cover almost seems like a link between life and death and not only captures where the band is right now, but also where we’ve been and what lies ahead.”

Pain Of Salvation Announces “Remedy Lane Re:Visited”

The Swedish progressive rock/metal innovators from Pain of Salvation have announced a very special reissue version of their classic 2002 album “Remedy Lane,” entitled “Remedy Lane Re:visited (Re:mixed & Re:lived).”

This new edition is set for release on for July 1st, 2016 via InsideOutMusic. The band teamed up with old companion and mixing engineer wizard Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Haken, etc.) for a new sonic take on the original recordings as well as the intense full-album live performance from ProgPower USA Festival 2014.

Both these “Remedy Lane” recordings will be made available either together as 2CD Digipak format dubbed “Remedy Lane Re:visited (Re:mixed & Re:lived)” with a total playing time of 142 minutes, or individually as Gatefold 2LP, or digital download versions, respectively called “Remedy Lane Re:mixed” (Playing time: 68 min.) and “Remedy Lane Re:lived” (Playing time: 74 min). The releases will come with revised artwork, expanded booklet design and extensive liner-notes by Daniel Gildenlöw.

Gildenlöw commented as follows about the re-mix project: “Jens Bogren, aka Fascination Street Studios, approached us a few years after the release of ‘Remedy Lane,’ saying he was a fan of the band and kindly offered his services. He was later involved in ‘BE’ and ‘Scarsick,’ but always in the periphery, since we were taking new directions in our sound and production by then. His true strengths lay in that impressive wall-of-sound type production that we had been aiming for with ‘The Perfect Element’ and ‘Remedy Lane,’ and I always wondered how those albums would have sounded in the care of his skillful hands. Maybe it was time to find out?”

Pain of Salvation is also currently working on a new studio album release together with acclaimed producer Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, etc.) at Dug-Out Productions in Sweden.

The album will be entitled “In The Passing Light Of Day” and is expected to be released later in the year via longtime label-partner InsideOutMusic.
