Electric Funeral Fest III to take place in Denver June 29-30, 2018

Friday June 29th will mark the one-night return of Denver speed metal legends Speedwolf as the group reunites for their first show in over four years with a headlining slot at 3 Kings. There may be no band in recent memory that’s achieved the cult status in Denver that Speedwolf has, and a raucous in-your-face performance inside 3 Kings will surely invoke wild memories (or forgotten ones) of infamous Speedwolf appearances of yore. Friday’s support spans from the soaring dual harmonies of 2017 MVPs Spirit Adrift, crushing Iowa doom trio Aseethe, the unmatched ‘70s blues-boogie of Amplified Heat, Portland’s self-proclaimed street doom merchants R.I.P. and many more.

The top slot Saturday June 30th will see the aggressive stoner metal onslaught of Wilmington NC’s Weedeater. Driven by the gutteral growl and enthralling stage energy of bassist/vocalist Dave “Dixie” Collins, NC’s manic sons are poised to lift the crowd a bit higher than usual. The meat of the Day 2 lineup matches the versatility of Day 1, including the misanthropic punishment of Primitive Man, Duel’s high-flying proto-metal roar, the manic blues attack of The Midnight Ghost Train, Opoponax records sleepers Grey Gallows and many more.

Electric Funeral is Denver’s premiere heavy music festival, built as a bridge between one of North America’s most powerful and vibrant cities for heavy music and the legions of bands and fans who visit the Mile High City each year. Electric Funeral, an event run and produced by musicians, stands as the antithesis to corporate driven rock festivals. Founded as a beacon for the Denver scene, EFF 2018 ramps the spotlight up a little brighter this year, showcasing over 15 bands from Denver, including a few behemoths holding down headlining and top support slots.

Loathe Posts “It’s Yours” Music Video

Loathe’s Erik Bickerstaffe comments: “We wanted a song to bridge the gap between what we thought would be expected and what we intended to do with the record. With ‘It’s Yours’, we went about the creative process a bit differently to how we usually do and it fell into place as the track that connects the dots.

“Visually, we brought ourselves into the spotlight for the video, providing a face for the name. Zak worked very closely with us when it came to perfecting every detail within the aesthetic and we’re extremely pleased with what we achieved.”

Tengger Cavalry Posts “kAAn” Video

Global Music Award-winning nomadic Mongolian folk metal group Tengger Cavalry just released a brand new EP, entitled “kAAn.” Today, the band showcases the EP’s socially-conscious themes by revealing a new music video for the title track. The following press release was issued about this video:

“The clip puts oppression of nomadic cultures under the spotlight. Much like the United State’s own Native American community, who are suffering from governmental and corporate oppression (i.e. Standing Rock), nomadic Mongolians have found their culture threatened by surrounding forces for generations. As brothers in nomadic culture, Tengger Cavalry penned ‘kAAn’ as a beacon of support.”

Front man Ganganbaigal comments, “This century is the century of machine and industry. Nomadic culture is falling apart everywhere around the world. Grasslands and plains are being exploited and it is becoming more acceptable to step into the sacred land of others and get what we need in the moment. We all saw what happened at Standing Rock.

“As distantly related brothers of Native Americans (proven genetically), Tengger Cavalry, an international alliance of Mongols, Central Asians and Northern Asians, felt the need to give our public support to them. This video is about the brotherhood of nomadic people. It doesn’t matter what ethnicity you are – if you have a nomadic heart and you love nature and sky, you are one of us, and we will support you!”

Glorior Belli Streaming New Track “Lies-Strangled Skies”

French avant-garde black metal band Glorior Belli is streaming a new song from upcoming album “Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes).” which drops on May 6th via Agonia Records. The track is titled “Lies-Strangled Skies” – listen in below.

“The production is by far one of the best that Glorior Belli ever had,” comments the band. “Drums & Bass are absolutely devilish and placed under the spotlight. Everything was recorded, mixed and mastered in our own studios, having an absolute control as usual over the sound. The guitar work overall will bring you back to the origins of Glorior Belli. Conceptually wise, ‘Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes)’ will smother you with darkness and light, both stuffed down your throat with the same rage that could be heard on Glorior Belli’s ealier records. When the Night is coming down on you, will you find a way through the dark? A record for the very few of us who truly embrace the desire to break from the cosmic prison.”

1. Lies-Strangled Skies
2. World So Spurious
3. Rebels In Disguise
4. Thrall Of Illusions
5. Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes)
6. Satanists Out of Cosmic Jail
7. Upheaval In Chaos Waters
8. We Whose Glory Was Despised

RAM: Swedish Heavy Metal Unit Premieres “The Usurper” At Heavy Blog Is Heavy

– October 7th, 2015 –

Svbversvm Out October 30th On Metal Blade Records

Heavy Metal Tyranny, Bang Your Head Or Lose It, Death To All Who Oppose Us.” — RAM

Swedish heavy metal defenders (of the faith), RAM, are ready to unleash their latest batch of fist-pumping, molten metal anthems to the masses in the form of Svbversvm. Go head-to-head with “The Usurper,” courtesy of Heavy Blog Is Heavy, HERE.

Brimming with raging hymns of death, post-apocalyptic dominance and total devastation through iron, the band’s fourth studio offering produced by the band at Black Path Studios, mixed at Welfare Sounds by Olle Björk, Per Stälberg, and RAM, mastered by Daniel Johansson and will be unleashed on October 30th via Metal Blade Records worldwide. In Europe, the record will come available as a limited CD/DVD digipak, as well as on CD and vinyl.

Comments RAM on their latest offering, “This album is the rebirth of RAM and a natural step to take after Death. For this album, we went back and rediscovered the mass of notes, lyrical ideas and sketches that were created at the very birth of RAM, from around 1999-2001. We saw that these ideas were more valid than ever and still very inspiring. We are very pleased with the album that is the product of four months of being locked up in the studio and offering our very last drop of sweat and blood for it to become the most massive RAM production ever. This is our latest assault upon the rotting world, may it be a dagger in the heart of the powers that may be! Svbversvm is at hand!

As a precursor to its release, today Heavy Blog Is Heavy hurls forth the fire ‘n’ brimstone enormity of “The Usurper” issuing of the track, “Swedish headbangers RAM are keeping the dream alive for those clamoring for a modern take on the powerful 80s metal scene that propelled legends Judas Priest, Dio, and Iron Maiden into the spotlight.

You can still listen to first single, “Eyes Of The Night” at metalblade.com/ram where you can also find various preorder bundles.

Devilment Releases “Sanity Hits A (Perfect) Zero” Music Video

Today Devilment premieres the official music video for “Sanity Hits A (Perfect) Zero,” taken off the band’s debut, “The Great And Secret Show” (2014).

The video, directed by Lizzy Ellam and edited by Sam Scott-Hunter, can be viewed below. Commented Dani Filth: “It was enormous fun filming the video for ‘Sanity Hits A (Perfect) Zero’ as it was decided that it would appear very chaotic, retro and dirty from an early stage, as if the discovered film stock had slightly perished with age, bringing with it a psychedelically lurid post-apocalyptic vision.

“The whole experience was undertaken close to home in Suffolk at a countryside scrapyard, with friends and performers being assembled, dressed, watered and fed by the extended Devilment family, with a crew ‘borrowed’ from the local university.

“In essence it was very much an underground guerrilla effort, the spirit of which we intended to capture on a day which fortunately fell between two bouts of horrible stormy weather, thus enabling the use of flame on what was essentially a fuel-soaked death trap waiting to ignite.
Still, all’s Hell that ends well, and we think the finished video (perfectly) compliments the madness and feral metallic adrenaline of the track heaved under the spotlight.”

Nightingale Announces New Album “Retribution”

Sweden’s Nightingale is back in the spotlight with a long overdue 7th studio album. Entitled “Retribution,” the follow-up to 2007’s “White Darkness” will be released via the band’s new worldwide label InsideOutMusic on January 27th, 2015 in North America.

Nightingale was established by musical multi-talent and producer Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity / Witherscape) almost 20 years ago and in the good tradition of the band — which is completed by Dan’s brother Dag Swanö (guitars, keyboards), Erik Oskarsson (bass) and Tom Björn (drums) — the new album once again showcases a timeless hybrid of different musical styles. From atmospheric metal to catchy AOR and melodic prog, “Retribution” offers an amazingly broad variety of moods and always tuneful songwriting skills.

Dan Swanö, who contributes vocals, guitars and keyboards, commented: “We started putting material together for this album around 2008, but out of all those songs only two made it to the album. I felt that, unless it is the best possible Nightingale album, where every song on the album easily could replace any song from our previous albums, there was no point in making a new album at all.

“During the writing of the Witherscape debut album, I wrote a lot of stuff that would work better on a Nightingale album, and before I knew it, I had the skeleton for a lot of potentially awesome Nightingale songs! It was important that the new material had the vibe of the older albums, yet with a better production and performance.

“I am very confident that all the Nightingale fans will love ‘Retribution’ since I made sure I felt the same rush inside me when I listened to the tracks that I did upon listening to the finished version of our most famous tracks from the past!”

The track listing is as follows:

1. On Stolen Wings
2. Lucifer’s Lament
3. Chasing The Storm Away
4. Warriors Of The Dawn
5. Forevermore
6. Divided I Fall
7. The Voyage Of Endurance
8. 27 (Curse Or Coincidence?)
9. The Maze
10. Echoes Of A Dream
