Dark Buddha Rising’s “II” Set To Drop Via Neurot Recordings This March

Prepare your mind, body, and the deepest recesses of your soul: the black gates that Dark Buddha Rising unlocked a decade ago with “I”, open further in 2018, as the band announce the “II” EP, due for release via Neurot Recordings on March 23rd, 2018. “II” continues to traverse spiritual planes, exposing a vortex with their sonic calls from beyond.

Sample new sounds with this immersive video below:

For ten years, the Finnish band has convened in the now-famous Wastement studio space, set below their home city of Tampere, Finland, to roil in the sounds of the underground, to meet dark spirits, to breathe in time with rhythmic pulses sent from the skies, the stars, and the very dirt around them.

On the surface, the band emits the blackest of psychedelia. Deep down, their sounds are forged in the blue fires of the ancients; exhalations of gods, goddesses and demons alike. Of this new offering, V. Ajomo notes, “To drain our sonic temple, we wanted to record the new material which was made for 2016 shows in order to proceed towards the unknown with open minds and hearts. After the cleansing, we initiated our chamber with ambient meditation and opened the portals of inspiration for our future work.”

“II” sees Dark Buddha Rising return to its purest incarnation: J.Rämänen on drums, P. Rämänen on bass, and V. Ajomo on guitar, J. Saarivuori on synths and M. Neuman on main vocals. “We have done a full cycle of the orbit and now is the time for gravitational slingshot towards the new dimensions in sound, deliverance and vision,” says Ajomo.

The EP’s A-side was recorded and mixed in Space Junk Studio by K.Nyyssönen and B-side was recorded in Wastement by Dark Buddha Rising and mixed by S. Tamminen.

Lyric Video For New Song “Children Of The Sounds” Posted By Kaipa

Legendary Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by mastermind Hans Lundin, recently announced the release of their new studio album “Children of the Sounds” for September 22nd via InsideOut Music.

Now, the band is pleased to reveal the lyric video for the album’s title track which you can see in the player at the bottom.

On the song, Hans comments: “I’ve often wondered where all those notes are coming from when the inspiration suddenly hits me in one of those magical moments when I just have to start writing a new song. Maybe I have a huge library of notes that I’ve collected during all my life, hidden somewhere in my sub-consciousness.

“Maybe these notes have been played before and then they just vanish in the air. After slumbering for many years, they suddenly wake up eager to start a new life and to form new combinations, and so they guide me through the writing process.”

The track listing for the album is as follows:

1. Children of the Sounds 11:31
2. On The Edge of New Horizons 17:10
3. Like A Serpentine 12:52
4. The Shadowy Sunlight 6:57
5. What’s Behind The Fields 9:31

New Album “Children Of The Sounds” Announced By Kaipa

Legendary Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by mastermind Hans Lundin, has announced the new studio album “Children of the Sounds,” which is set for release on September 22nd via InsideOutMusic. The band’s thirteenth album, and eighth since the act was reborn in 2002, this album features the line-up of Lundin, accompanied by Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Morgan Ågren (Karmakanic), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Patrik Lundström (Ritual) & Aleena Gibson, plus a guest appearance from violinist Elin Rubinsztein.

Hans comments: “In November 2014 when I was still filled with all the energy I had captured during the summer I started to write the new songs. What really made me push the start button this time was a magic spirit that filled my whole body after visiting a concert with Morgan Ågren and his band ‘Mats & Morgan Band’. I woke up the morning after the concert and still felt that enormous groove filling every part of my consciousness. I realized that I had to canalize all this energy somewhere so I decided to start to write some new music. I had also found a lot of inspiration from the long bicycle rides that I made during the summer in the open land-scape around Uppsala. It was like if the notes were rising up from the billowing fields I passed and the words were falling like raindrops from the clear sky. So now I suddenly had found the key to open up all these ideas that had been slumbering at the back of my mind for a while. All the beauty and the wondrous inspiration from nature in combination with this ‘enormous groove” made me create ‘five long songs during the next months.”

The result is as colourful musically and lyrically as Kaipa devotees will expect from the band’s rich discography dating back to the debut opus released in 1975. Formed in 1973, Kaipa never shied away from experimentation, embracing fresh elements and sounds manifesting especially on the albums released in the 2000’s. “Children Of The Sounds” is no exception, the album burns with creative fervour and spirit most vividly displayed on the title track, the 17 minutes long “On The Edge Of New Horizons” or closing track “What’s Behind The Fields.” It embodies a powerful, positive energy and artistic brilliance that is irresistible and true to the genre’s very essence.

The track listing is:

1. Children of the Sounds 11:31
2. On The Edge of New Horizons 17:10
3. Like A Serpentine 12:52
4. The Shadowy Sunlight 6:57
5. What’s Behind The Fields 9:31
