Candiria debuts series of “While They Were Sleeping” album concept videos

– January 26th, 2018 –

Confirm New England Metal and Hardcore Fest appearance

Vocalist Carley Coma of Candiria has launched a new series of videos for the band’s latest album While They Were Sleeping. The series will go in depth into the story behind the concept of the album. The first video is for track #1, the title track, and is streaming on YouTube HERE. New videos for each track will be launched in sequence in the coming weeks.

Candiria will be headlining the Blacklight Media Records showcase in New York City on March 8th at the Gramercy Theatre. The band have put together a special set list for the night to celebrate over 20 years of their critically-acclaimed sophomore album Beyond Reasonable Doubt. Tickets are on sale now at HERE. The lineup also includes Gozu, Good Tiger, Mother Feather, ONI, and Eyes of the Sun.

Since their inception in 1992, Candiria has been lauded for their ability to mesh decidedly different styles in a seamless way. They were named one of the “10 Most Important Bands in Metal” by Rolling Stone back in 1999 for consistently releasing music that challenges listeners, thrills critics, and – most importantly – attracts a legion of dedicated, diehard fans. Their latest album, While They Were Sleeping, continues that legacy, with Pitchfork.com hailing the band as one of “the most convincingly flexible acts that metal and hardcore have ever seen“. Candiria premieres “Wandering Light” video via DecibelMagazine.com

– December 15th, 2016 –

Announces additional USA tour dates

Brooklyn’s own Candiria have partnered with DecibelMagazine.com to bring you the new video for “Wandering Light”, another powerful track off their new record While They Were Sleeping – a concept album conceived by the band’s lead vocalist Carley Coma that tells the tale of a failed musician who rises up against a monarchy in New York City. To watch “Wandering Light” (filmed at Spaceman Sound and directed by Steve Perlmutter – steveperlmutter.net), please visit: decibelmagazine.com

John LaMacchia (guitar) comments: “‘Wandering Light’ is one of my favorite songs off of the new album so I am very happy it was included in the live, Spaceman Sound Studio sessions. This version of the song includes an additional musical section that I feel adds another layer of excitement to the performance.”

“‘Wandering Light’ encapsulates the quintet’s startling chemistry, as churning brutality morphs seamlessly into a brief, jazz interlude and back again, the whole thing sounding like nothing else on Earth: brave, smart, adventurous and joyously contrary to mainstream metal’s current creative inertia. But then Candiria were this brilliant 20 years ago too. Wake up, folks: herein lies genius.”Metal Hammer (UK)

Fresh off a successful North America headline tour in support of the album, Candiria will head back out on the road again this upcoming January/February. Candiria is extremely excited to get back on the road for the upcoming regional dates that we have scheduled,” asserts John LaMacchia (guitar). “The band has been getting acquainted with both new and old material that we are looking forward to incorporating in our live set.”

Enslaved Announces NYC Signing Session

Brooklyn, New York record store Rough Trade NYC will host an Enslaved LP signing session this Sunday, December 11th following the previous evening’s massive twenty-fifth anniversary concert at Gramercy Theatre.

This all-ages Rough Trade event will open at 1:00pm; entry is automatic with the LP purchase of Enslaved’s recently released “The Sleeping Gods – Thorn” reissue. This reissue of two Enslaved EPs arrives via By Norse Music, the Norwegian cultural group behind New York By Norse, a huge two-day event taking over Manhattan December 9th – 10th.

A full-length album comprised of rare material from 2010-2011, “The Sleeping Gods – Thorn” is a unique collection of experimental recordings connecting with the band’s early roots. The seven tracks originally appeared on extremely limited EPs between Enslaved’s “Axioma Ethica Odini” and “Riitiir” full-lengths and were recorded both in Solslottet Studio in Bergen, as well as the band members’ own studios and partly in the deep woods of Valevaag on the south-western coast of Norway.
