Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Hints That Metallica Are The Holdouts On More “The Big Four” Concerts – Suggests Touring As “The Big Three”

With Slayer calling it quits after one final world tour, Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine lately expressed his hopes that “The Big Four” (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax) would perform at least one more show before they officially become “The Big Three”.

In a recent interview Mustaine further spoke of the potential for a few more shows from the “Big Four” and the possibility that they do it without Metallica, who appear to be the holdout. Says Mustaine:

“I think if you asked the three of us that, our camps would probably say yes. If Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth all want to do it, and Metallica doesn’t, then what do we do? The Big Three? I’m sure that a lot of people would like to see that, and that may be what it is. You know, you may end up having it be the Big Three plus No. 5 if we have Exodus play with it. But it’s not about just doing concerts for the sake of concerts. It was about the movement. It was about what we did together as a group.

Excluding Anthrax, we’re all like neighbors almost ’cause we all lived so close. It was just a half hour to an hour at at most between each other’s houses on the freeway. So, I think it would be great to do more “Big Four” stuff – do one in Japan. Do one in South America – we never did one in South America; we haven’t done one in Asia. Give the people an opportunity to see it before it goes away forever.”

Slayer’s Touring Partners Speak About Upcoming North American Shows

Members of Lamb Of God, Behemoth, Testament and Anthrax have spoken about their upcoming tour of North America with Slayer, which is part of the headliner’s, “End Of Days” farewell tour. Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe had this to say:

“If you are lucky enough to be invited to play even just once with living legends like Slayer, it’s an incredible honor. Slayer gave Lamb Of God our very first two overseas shows. Slayer has subsequently taken us on several full-length tours, both at home and abroad. The guys in Slayer and their crew have also always been very, very cool to our band. It is irrefutable that Slayer helped create the genre of aggressive metal, and all modern bands of that ilk owe them a huge debt – I know we do. To be asked to be a part of their final tour – well, it just makes you stop and realize just how lucky you are. Hail Slayer! We’ll see you on the road…”

Testament vocalist Chuck Billy added: “Sharing the stage with Slayer once again is going to be an honor, and to be a part of the final tour is going to be a special privilege for us. Slayer has influenced so many aggressive bands in their career. This tour will be an epic time for all who attend. Do yourself a favor and clear your calendars when this show comes to town. This will be your last chance to see a tour like this. Get ready North America for the devastation.”

Behemoth frontman Nergal stated: “Well, well, well… the dream comes true AGAIN it seems. Behemoth will be teaming up with mighty Slayer again for another extensive North American run later this year! Nothing short of epic if you ask me! I cannot wait to confront American legions again before we unleash the new record. One of the biggest metal tours this year: Testament, Behemoth, Anthrax, Lamb Of God and Slayer. Can you miss it out? FUCK NO!”

Anthrax bassist Frankie Bellow also commented on the tour, saying: “It’s truly an honor to be on Slayer’s final tour. Anthrax and Slayer have toured together for decades, we are family, band and crew, so we want to help give Slayer the best send-off possible, and to have one last blast with our friends. But you know, at the end of the day, Slayer will never die.”

Behemoth have been carving out their claim as one of the world’s top extreme / black metal bands since their inception in 1991. That claim was solidified in 2014 with the release of the band’s tenth full-length, The Satanist. A writhing, densely layered, brutally violent and sinister record, it is quite unlike anything ever unleashed within the canon of heavy music. To hear the album track, “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”, please visit: soundcloud.com. The Satanist and other Behemoth titles are also on-sale now (for 24 hours!) at: smarturl.it/SlayerDay
