Zornheym Premieres New Song “Whom the Night Brings” From Upcoming New Album “Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns”

Swedish symphonic black metal outfit Zornheym – founded by multi-instrumentalist Zorn (ex-Dark Funeral, ex-Devian) – premieres a new song entitled “Whom the Night Brings”, taken from the upcoming new album “Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns”, which will be released September 15 under the auspice of Non Serviam Records.

Check out now “Whom the Night Brings” below.

States Zorn:

“I think this song is the easiest to understand the heart of this album. I remember demoing this track to our singer, Bendler, in the studio and he was so excited to dig his teeth into this one. Any old Devian fans out there? The solo section was originally written for Devian’s third album, which was never released. I have always loved that part and to expand upon it with our string and choir section just added so much more depth to it!”

Xentrix Unveils New Band Lineup

Xentrix just checked in with the following announcement about bringing on a new vocalist and gearing up for live activity once again:

“It’s been a while since we posted any Xentrix news, and to be totally honest, this has been down to the fact that we weren’t sure if there would be anymore news or even anymore Xentrix.

“At the end of 2015 Chris Astley, our singer/guitarist had decided he didn’t want to be a part of Xentrix or any other band for that matter, and so once again he was out of the line up. This left us (the remaining three members) with the option to call it a day or try and find a replacement.

“We knew full well that the vocals are always the most difficult thing for any band to replace, but we wanted to carry on doing shows and making new metal music, so we set out on the arduous task of finding a new vocalist for the band. For the past 18 months we’ve been trying to find that right person and it has been incredibly frustrating how many times we thought we had found the new addition to our line up only to discover, for one reason or another, it wasn’t to be. We’d like to thank everyone that auditioned and demoed for us, we experienced some great voices and really cool people.

“But after a chance meeting at last year’s Bloodstock Festival we found the right man for the job and so Xentrix would like to welcome Mr. Jay Walsh (Bull Riff Stampede) as our new singer / guitarist. We’re super excited to have Jay on board and have already started writing and demoing new material. Most importantly, we can’t wait to get back to doing what we love the most, playing live!”

Xentrix 2017 consists of:

Kristian Havard – Guitar
Chris Shires – Bass
Jay Walsh – Vocals/Guitar
Dennis Gasser – Drums

Myrkur Debuts New Song “Måneblôt” From Upcoming New Album “Mareridt”

Myrkur debuts a new song titled “Måneblôt”, taken from the upcoming new album “Mareridt” (Danish for “nightmare”), which will arrive in stores September 15th on CD/LP/DLX 2xLP/Digital via Relapse Records.

Check out now “Måneblôt” below.

The new album was inspired by a troubling episode of nightmares and sleep paralysis the singer suffered, of which she says:

“I was in one of the worst times of my life. I was afraid to sleep. You know how they say that when you have been through trauma or abuse, you tend to recreate the situation in an attempt to take ownership of it? I think I was doing that. I was trying to solve things in my nightmares that I could not solve in real life. Things I could not run away from.”

Shining’s Portland Show Cancelled After Accusations Of Racism & Groping Women

The Tonic Lounge (Portland, Oregon) has cancelled today’s (May 17th) Shining show, due to vocalist Niklas Kvarforth’s alleged behavior at a bar and show a few nights prior.

States the Tonic Lounge:

“Tonic Lounge has decided to cancel the Shining show that was scheduled for this Wednesday, May 17th.
All tickets will be refunded.

We regret having not researched this band more before approving their show. After booking them, it was brought to our attention that Shining’s singer has done and said many things that could be considered offensive, dangerous, or destructive. While we were learning about and considering these issues, the list continued to grow, including a recent report that the he may have been involved in the drugging of someone’s drink.

This morning we received a call from a trusted friend in Boise Idaho, detailing the events that took place while Shining were there on Sunday. We were told that the singer of Shining went to the local punk bar Mulligans before their concert, and was groping women and threatening to stab employees, and had to be removed.

We were also told that later, while performing at The Shredder, he used many blatant racist and homophobic slurs on stage, threatened audience members with rape, slapped audience members in the face, and was sieg heil saluting repeatedly throughout their performance.

Sometimes words and allegations on the internet can be difficult to navigate, but a story like this coming from a friend is not. The above types of behavior are simply not acceptable at Tonic Lounge. This isn’t about censorship. This is about protecting our venue, our staff, and our patrons.

This decision was not made under pressure by any individuals or political groups. We believe in freedom of expression and are not quick to pull the plug on any band booked at our club. However, we are not going to invite someone into our space to spout hate speech on our stage, and/or put our staff and patrons in harm’s way.

We are still in full support of Famine Fest Presents, the other bands who were on the bill, and all of our friends and customers who planned on attending. We hope you all can respect our decision to do what’s best for our club and those within it.”

Synaptik Posts New Lyric Video For “White Circles”

U.K. prog metal quintet SynaptiK unleashed their sophomore studio album, “Justify & Reason,” on March 10th through Defox Records (digitally), and via Divebomb Records in the U.S. in CD format. Today, April 10th, the album lands in various U.K. stores trhough Plastichead.

Today SynaptiK has also launched a lyric video for third single “White Circles.” Singer John Knight commented about the lyrical concept behind the song:

“Lyrically, the song describes the story of one person’s dependency on medication, antipsychotic drugs, the decision whether to stop taking them and return to a natural state risking confusion and illness or to continue on, the side effects, the withdrawals, the risks. All overseen by the ‘God like’ psychiatrist.”

Knight worked for many years within the mental health system at management level further comments, “I spoke at length with a client about her feelings towards her medication and her psychiatrist. She told me her psychiatrist was ‘like a God,’ someone who oversaw all the choices she made and controlled her life. It made an impression and I wrote this song that night. Of course, not every story is the same and medication plays a very important and useful part of people’s life, it’s not an anti-medication song at all, but about the conflict a person has, the internal battle… Telling themselves ‘I’m well now, I don’t need these tablets’ without realizing they feel this way because the medication is working, the side effects both being on and withdrawing can be severe.”
