Silent Planet Premiere New Song & Music Video “Visible Unseen”

Silent Planet premiere a new song and music video called “Visible Unseen“. It’s the latest track to arrive from the group’s new effort “When The End Began“, which will receive an official release later today, via Solid State Records.

Comments vocalist Garrett Russell of the outing:

“‘Visible Unseen‘ is about the epidemic of homeless LGBTQ youth — a statistically observable phenomenon where disproportionate numbers of LGBT youth are homeless in America. The song was inspired by heartbreaking conversations I’ve had at shows, hearing the pain of kids who have been abandoned by families and shunned by communities, simply because they don’t fit a traditional paradigm of sexuality.

I call these youths the ‘Visible Unseen’ because this is a phenomenon that is happening around us, but often goes overlooked. So this is an anthem for them, and a challenge for us, to recognize an often-isolated, needing group of young people in our society.”

Silent Planet Releases “Understanding Love As Loss” Video

Christian metalcore group Silent Planet aims to illuminate the truth behind depression and anxiety, and the weight it places on the individual and those who love them, with new video “Understanding Love As Loss.”

Lyricist/vocalist Garrett Russell details personal experiences, while touching on the stories of a few of history’s greatest creative minds, including Sylvia Plath, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf and David Foster Wallace.

“They all committed suicide in the midst of great work,” Garrett told Billboard.com, “I have come to find that people struggling with depression generally have a unique angle of perceiving others – one that can be quite full of insight.”

The crucial message of “Understanding Love As Loss” is one that hits home for Russell, who previously worked as a therapist on his college campus. Having dealt with suicidal ideations himself and working closely with students struggling as well, the message is close to Russell’s heart.

“As a therapist, I saw a lot of students who dealt with depression and there’s no easy answer.” Russell explains, “Life is full of loss and it’s not easy, but I do believe if people can talk about what they’re going through that there’s hope.”

When asked what it really means to ‘understand love as loss’ he remarked, “I’ve understood that truly loving someone involves giving up part of yourself and allowing them into the sacred space of your self. In both the happy and sad endings of loving someone, I’ve begun to see that Love and Loss aren’t at odds, but are mutually inclusive.”

States guitarist/bassist Brandon Leitru:

“A lot of people have been asking if any of us will continue making music after For Today is finished. Well, the answer is yes! Check out the first song from Nothing Left – the new band that Ryan and I started. We started putting together songs for this project early this year. We asked our friend Danon to do vocals and got Alex from Silent Planet to play drums on the recording. I’m happy with the way the songs turned out and excited to finally let people hear them.”

Adds Ryan:

“It’s been awesome to start fresh on a new project without guidelines or expectations. We had the freedom to make music that we want to hear without concern for how people will receive it. We are thankful that Nuclear Blast supports the type of creativity that tends to yield more exciting and interesting music.”

Silent Planet Premieres New Song & Video “Orphan” From Upcoming New Album “Everything Was Sound”

Progressive metalcore unit Silent Planet premieres a new song entitled “Orphan”, taken from the upcoming new album “Everything Was Sound”, which will be out in stores July 01 via Solid State Records.

Says vocalist Garret Russell of the song: “Orphan explores the cultural chasm between the western and eastern world. In the recent political sphere, we’ve seen instance after instance of politicians framing our narrative of other cultures around the world – often painting other cultures and religions with one broad brush to lead us to unfounded conclusions. Simultaneously, we see the same political tactics being used on the other side of the world – often fanning the flames of fanaticism and anti-West sentiment. Orphan examines two men, caught between the poles of extremism and confusion at one another’s culture. The video shows how perception of one another can so often distort reality – bringing us to the greatest illness of all: Fear.”

Fault Lines Posts “Such Is Life” EP Online

After dropping lead single “Equal Parts” that features Silent Planet vocalist Garrett Russel, metalcore outfit Fault Lines is now streaming the entire “Such Is Life” EP online.

This full stream also marks the official release of “Such Is Life” today. Listen in below, courtesy of HM Magazine. Vocalist Corey Pettit comments:

“This EP is a collection of songs that open up a dialogue about various feelings or things that we as humans have to deal with in our lives, that aren’t exactly positive. We didn’t want to sugar-coat the content so a lot of it comes off as cynical or melancholy, but it’s honest which is what we were going for.

“The release deals with addiction, anxiety, fighting complacency and a few other subjects that are harsh realities of the world we live in. We hope that you find some solace in knowing that you are not alone in these issues and that you can get through it. That’s the main idea of this EP… You will get past it and move on, and it’s worth it to.”
