More Details On New Steel Prophet Album “Omniscient” Revealed

California’s Steel Prophet revealed more details about the upcoming new release of “Omniscient,” the first new studio album in 10 years. The album drops on July 8th via Cruz del Sur Records and sees the band returning to the classic sound led by Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor (guitarist and founding member) and by veteran metal singer Rick Mythiasin. The recording lineup is completed by Vince Dennis (bass), Chris Schleyer (guitar), and Jimmy Schultz (drums); after the recording original drummer John Tarascio, and guitarist John Paget returned to the band together.

12 of the tracks off “Omniscient” are based on an original story written by Kachinsky. The idea of telling a story throughout a whole album is similar to the band’s 1999 classic “Dark Hallucinations,” which was based on the famous book “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury. German Artist Timo Würz was hired to create the cover artwork and the 12 original illustrations in the CD booklet that go along with the story. The album also contains a bonus track, a cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which was successfully presented by the band at the 2013 edition of the Keep It True Festival in Germany.

“Omniscient” will be released in limited edition 36-page digibook, regular compact disc, limited gate-fold double LP and digital download. The track listing is:

1. Chariots of the Gods
2. The Tree of Knowledge
3. When I Remake the World (A Key Flaw)
4. 911
5. Trickery of the Scourge
6. Through Time and Space
7. Aliens, Spaceships and Richard M. Nixon
8. Oleander Deux
9. 666 is Everywhere (The Heavy Metal Blues) (see music video here)
10. Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen Cover)
11. Call of Katahdin
12. Funeral for Art
13. 1984 (George Orwell is Rolling in His Grave)

Napalm Christ Inks Deal With A389 Recordings

A389 Recordings today proclaims their new liaison with Arkansas-based underlords Napalm Christ. The label comments:

“Formed in late 2010, Napalm Christ unites a crew of longtime henchmen who have helped shape the Little Rock area extreme music scene over the past two or more decades. Since the early 1990s, the four horsemen who form Napalm Christ have collectively spent time at war with the mainstream in Rwake, Shredding Corpse, Pale Unearthed, Shitfire, Witch’s Tit and others. In this cult they unify their hateful ways and debauchery-ridden tactics into a volatile brew of charged-up, doom/grind-influenced death metal, reeking of days past, yet with enough potency to give fair warning of much darker days to come.

“Initiated as a side-project, things got out of control, and Napalm Christ began infecting the planet with recorded material, thus far accumulated in a series of random online demos, singles and comp inclusions. The latter of said demos was released via Bandcamp in June 2013, and that’s when A389 caught a whiff of the band’s trail.

“Recorded by Alan Wells with assistance from Keith Bracy in Little Rock, and mastered by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room Mastering in Chicago, and masked with illustrations by Dennis Lee Hughes, A389 will manifest this half-hour of disturbing anthems into an official 12″ vinyl release, followed by their debut LP later in the year. Exact street dates on both pending releases will be announced in the coming weeks. For now stream the entire 2013 demo below.”

The track listing is as follows:

1. Idols of Evil
2. Life is Dimming
3. Reclaimed by the Earth
4. Nuclear Holy War
5. Despoilment of Will
6. Burning Away the Scourge
