Haken Releases “Lapse” Music Video

Haken is set to hit the road in North America later this month for the band’s 10th anniversary tour. In advance of that trek, the band just released a brand new psychedelic and sci-fi animated video for the track “Lapse,” taken from last year’s “Affinity” (reviewed here) and created by Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight.

The band comments: “Lapse was one of the first tracks we wrote for Affinity. Now more than a year since the album’s release, it’s great to finally give this song a chance to stand out on its own, as it’s one of our favorites!

“Visually, we wanted to maintain a consistency with our videos for ‘Initiate,’ ‘Earthrise,’ and ‘The Endless Knot,’ so we returned to Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight to complete the series. The video incorporates a 3D motion capture technique (previously used on Frost*’s ‘Numbers’ video) to tie in with Affinity’s themes of artificial intelligence/consciousness.”

Xandria Comments On Upcoming Album “Theater Of Dimensions”

Xandria’s new album “Theater Of Dimensions” will be released worldwide on January 27th, 2017 via Napalm Records. The band comments:

“After the release of ‘Sacrificium’ we embarked on our longest tour so far. Over 150 shows that took us around the globe. Through so many different countries and diverse cultures. Through so many different, yet inspiring dimensions.

“We brought back plenty of memories, sometimes just bits and pieces, but those stuck to our heads. And it made us see who we are and where we wanted to take our music. Made us fearless. Made us push our boundaries once more. Made us cross some so-called genre defining borders. Made us bundle all our trademarks and take them to the next level.

“All this makes the most colourful Xandria album so far. It contains our most heavy and most emotional moments. Again, producer Joost van den Broek did a phenomenal job capturing the atmosphere down to every detail. ‘A Theater of Musical Dimensions.’ Can’t wait to share the songs with you…”

Gus G. Announces “Operation Domination” Tour Dates With Angel Vivaldi

Greek guitar phenomenon Gus G. will embark on the “Operation Domination” co-headliner U.S. tour with renowned shredder Angel Vivaldi. A full breakdown of dates and venues is available below.

Gus G. states: “I’m very excited to return to the U.S. this fall to finally hit more markets and play for the fans that were left out on my recent Spring mini-tour. Teaming up with a talented player like Angel Vivaldi seemed like a great opportunity.

“We’re both stoked to bring the ‘Operation Domination’ tour to the American audiences and we will be performing our own individual sets, but also collaborating on stage together as well. We will have a great band with us that features James Paul Luna (Holy Grail) on vocals, Alex Bent (ex-Battlecross, Testament) on drums and Jake Skylyr on bass.

“The set list will once again be a mixed bag including songs from my solo works, Firewind, Ozzy material but some surprises as well. These shows are not to be missed. See you soon.”

Vivaldi further adds: “For me this tour perfectly summarizes the evolution of modern guitar playing. To be able to share a stage with a force such as Gus is both inspiring and refreshing. I cannot wait to see the looks on people’s faces when they see what we have planned! I’m also really excited to dip into music from all my releases including the upcoming re-recordings from The Speed of Dark: Revisited, coming out this year.

“After the recent tragic events in Orlando, I’m going above and beyond to make this tour a much needed celebration of love, inspiration and positive energy. I have some exciting tricks up my sleeve that I’m anxious to unleash on this run. It’s going to be a party!”
