Rotting Christ Enters The Studio To Work On New Album

The Greek veterans of Rotting Christ have entered the studio for the recording of their brand new album, which will be released early 2019 via Season of Mist. The album will be produced by vocalist Sakis Tolis himself, and Jens Bogren will again take on the job of mixing and mastering.

Regarding the new record, Sakis comments: “After almost two years on the road promoting and supporting our latest album ‘Rituals’, the time has come to create it’s follower. An album that will be inspired by the intense artistic worries which arose during those two years on the road, and which seems to be our darkest and most mystical influences yet in our career! Thanks for the support all those years, we will not disappoint you!”

New Video Clip “God Of Delusion” Released By Overoth

Late last month Irish death dealers Overoth released the second full length album “The Forgotten Tome” via Hostile Media. Today, the band released the video clip for the song “God of Delusion,” which comes via Overdrive at this location, or simply in the player at the bottom.

Filmed by Adam Edgerley and edited by Chris Bevan, “God Of Delusion” was filmed in a dying wood in County Down, Northern Ireland. “It was a real nightmare of a location to get to,” states the band. “The wood itself was quite dense, so there was no chance we’d get our vehicles close to the location we had scouted, so with nothing but manpower we had to lug all our gear, generators, lights, camera gear, up and over hills, over streams and dead tress… they were everywhere… and it was a little sketchy at times, because we were surrounded by these massive trees, that with not much force would and were falling over. Needless to say, we all got out alive.”

Lyric Video For New Song “Serenade Of Slitting Throats” Premiered By Sicarius, New Album Artwork Exposed

Sicarius premiered the title track from the upcoming new album “Serenade of Slitting Throats” over at Invisible Oranges at this location or by simply pressing play in the player at the bottom. In addition, the band unveiled the artwork for the album (shown below).

“This is probably my favorite track on the album,” explains guitarist Argyris. “It just has everything in it — power, speed, violence, and atmosphere. It’s a very well-rounded hitter that I’m very proud of both on a musical standpoint and a lyrical one. It just flowed together on its own when I composed it. It made perfect sense to make it the flagship track of the album, and unleash it first as an appropriate means of showcasing where Sicarius is at first glance. It swallows you up in a wave of violence and grabs you by the throat and only relents at the end, which symbolizes the death of the quarry.”

“The lyric video was directed by David Thelen. I saw his work for the German band Attic and thought it was fantastic. His lyric videos are gritty yet well composed. We were kind of in a pinch and he was very kind to fit us into his schedule and delivered a great piece. He captured the vision that myself and album artist/designer Misanthropic Art had for the visual aspect. We couldn’t be happier.”

“Serenade of Slitting Throats” will be released via M-Theory Audio on Friday October 13th. The album can be pre-ordered now via the label shop over here and will be available on CD, as well as a limited edition old-school cassette with red shell (only 100 copies available) and exclusive t-shirt bundle options.

“I’m excited to finally be able to reveal the album artwork, as I’m sure Misanthropic Art is as well, as he’s been waiting patiently for the work he’s done for this album to come out,” tells Argyris. “I love working with Chris there because his visual conceptions are very dark and atmospheric, and he’s one of the easiest people to work with. When it came time to design the album I pretty much gave him free reign. I told him that I wanted the album art to FEEL like those classic 2nd wave black metal albums I grew up admiring. I think he nailed it. He listened to a few songs off the album and what he envisioned, he put ink to paper and we were honored by the end result.”

Produced by Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh), “Serenade of Slitting Throats” was recorded at Barracks Studio in Southern California. Expect a murderous, bloodthirsty and ultra-violent black metal assault paying homage to classic, black metal bands, like Mayhem, Bathory, Gorgoroth and Rotting Christ, yet also injecting a modern high-velocity method to delivering bludgeoning and savage music.

Sicarius Inks Deal With M-Theory Audio

Like a merciless dagger onto the scene arrives Sicarius (meaning contract killer or assassin) with an ultra-violent black metal assault. Founded 3 years ago, Sicarius pays homage to classic black metal bands while injecting a modern high-velocity method that has seen the band signed to M-Theory Audio.

“I witnessed Sicarius perform at a small show featuring some other M-Theory Audio acts including Helsott and Empyrean Throne,” explains M-Theory Audio label head Marco Barbieri. “I was unfamiliar with the band previously but within minutes of taking the stage the group commanded my attention. Not only with their look, but more so for their performance which was raw, violent and reckless. The ‘danger’ aspect is something that escapes most rock and metal these days, but with Sicarius I was intrigued which ultimately lead to this signing.”

“We at Sicarius are absolutely thrilled to be a part of the M-Theory team and to work with a leader of such a high caliber like Marco. The man is a visionary to say the least, and has worked with countless black metal acts that have influenced Sicarius in many facets,” explains guitarist Argyris.

He goes on to say, “Since forming this outfit the biggest goals have been to write music that we want to listen to, and to carry the torch of the classic bands from the late ‘80s / early ‘90s such as Rotting Christ, Mayhem, Bathory and Gorgoroth. We hold the utmost respect and confidence in this label and the team that operates it. After meeting with Marco I am very privileged to share our vision for Sicarius under the banner of M-Theory Audio and together unleash uncompromising black metal violence upon the world.”

Hatebreed, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Overkill, Wintersun Added To Brutal Assault 2017 Line-Up

A bunch of new bands have been announced for the 22nd edition of Brutal Assault, which takes place this year in Fortress Josefov near Jaromer in the Czech Republic on August 9-12. Returning once more are heavy-weights Hatebreed, who last graced the fortress stages in 2012 and 2013. This is reportedly in response to festival-goers requests for more hardcore in the line-up.

The Dillinger Escape Plan will be including the festival in their series of farewell dates. It looks like the band’s appearance here won’t be affected by the bus crash that caused some European tour dates to be cancelled last month. Dillinger last played Brutal Assault in 2015.

Thrash veterans Overkill, touring in support of their recently released 18th studio album, “The Grinding Wheel”, have also been added. No stranger to the fortress stage, Overkill last appeared at the festival in 2013.

Helsinki’s Wintersun are newcomers to Brutal Assault, appearing for the first time. Can we assume they will be playing material from their long-awaited third album? There’s no official word as yet.

Also announced were Oathbreaker from Belgium, Australians Aversions
Crown and King Parrot, Power Trip from Texas, Norway’s Helheim and the return of New Jersey mathcore outfit The Number Twelve Looks Like You, returning from a six year hiatus.

These new additions join what is already a pretty hard-hitting roster of bands with Emperor, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Nile, Electric Wizard and Mayhem as highlights. Held over four days, the festival has three stages and will reportedly include 100 acts in the final reckoning.
