Stryper Announces “History” 2019 Tour Dates

Chart-topping rock band Stryper will return to the road in May for the 2019 HISTORY Tour — Greatest Hits & Covers that influenced our generation. The all-new HISTORY Tour comes on the heels of the band’s yearlong God Damn Evil World Tour, which concluded in Japan in February.

“The music of our generation was and is timeless,” says Stryper frontman Michael Sweet. “It was all about the song and musicians who inspired you to want to play. We grew up on bands like Van Halen, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Journey and Boston. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the music of these legendary bands. We thought it would be an amazing experience to play some of these songs live and show you, the audience, exactly where our roots lie. We’ll also be incorporating our own hits and videos from 1984 to 2019, and something from Perry’s past as well (Firehouse). We’re excited to get back out on the road and we look forward to seeing you soon!”

Stryper consists of original members Michael Sweet (vocals and guitar), Robert Sweet (drums) and Oz Fox (guitar), as well as bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of the multi-platinum band Firehouse) who joined the group in 2018.

Exclusive meet & greet packages will be available in most cities. Fans will have the option of purchasing either a Standard Meet & Greet Package or VIP HISTORY Tour Meet & Greet Package. Both meet & greet packages include an opportunity to meet the band, get autographs, take photos with the guys and receive exclusive one-of-a-kind merchandise. However, the VIP HISTORY Meet & Greet Package (limited to 6 fans per city) offers additional merchandise options and a stage tour (hold Michael’s guitar, photo in front of Robert’s drum kit, overview of gear with Stryper crew member).

Stryper continues to dominate the hard rock/heavy metal scene with their critically-acclaimed tenth studio album, God Damn Evil – released in 2018 via Frontiers Music srl. Rocking since 1984, Stryper is responsible for such classic ’80s metal albums as Soldiers Under Command, To Hell with the Devil and In God We Trust. In fact, Stryper is the first band to ever have two songs in MTV’s Top 10 simultaneously with their hits “Free” and “Honestly.” To date, the Dove Award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated band has sold over 10 million records worldwide.

The Raven Age Posts New Music Video “The Day The World Stood Still” Online

One of this generation’s most promising metal acts The Raven Age are releasing their brand new album “Conspiracy” on March 8th via Corvid Records. The 12-track masterpiece boasts their biggest statement yet, hitting the mark for melodic metal with power, ambition and maturity that’s been receiving high praise from the likes of Metal Hammer, Kerrang and Powerplay.

The band have now shared the video for the latest track taken from the record “The Day The World Stood Still,” which is a charismatic film formed of footage from their time on the road supporting Tremonti across Europe in 2018. It premiered with Metal Hammer who dubbed them “Brit metal heroes” and is an inside look at the five personalities who form The Raven Age collective.

“It’s a track that our new guitarist Tony brought forward and it quickly became one of our favourites to play,” comments co-founder and guitarist George Harris, “It’s a hard hitting, groove orientated song with loads of catchy melodies, cool guitar work and also one of my favourite drum beats from Oats (Jai)…so hats off to Tony for writing this belter.”

“The Day The World Stood Still” is a melodic metal monster that is as brilliantly catchy as it is artfully heavy, it’s equipped with epic guitar solos and powerful vocal lines that have the ferocity and theatrics of the likes of metal heavyweights Avenged Sevenfold.

The track reflects on some of the personal challenges they face during their relentless life on the road and how the passion for what they do helps to overcome these inner battles, “It was written whilst on tour,” says Tony, “it’s about being in a constant battle with your own mind, delving into dark places you didn’t know you had. Simple things like sleep become a challenge when your mind’s working on overdrive and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

“The fact that I was able to turn this into something positive and create music out of it was the escape I needed at the time to get me through it.”

Borknagar Splits With Vocalist Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund

Norwegian progressive black metal outfit Borknagar has announced that they have parted company with vocalist Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund. A statement from the band reads as follows:

“Due to personal reasons, Andreas ‘Vintersorg’ Hedlund has decided to step down as the lead vocalist of Borknagar. The decision is based on mutual understanding, respect and in a friendly manner with the rest of the band. Borknagar would like to express their sincere gratitude for the musical brotherhood we have shared throughout the years and wish Andreas the very best in his future endeavours. There is no drama to this situation, and our friendship will remain. No one should be too surprised if Vintersorg reappears as a guest vocalist on a future record.

“As a natural consequence, I.C.S Vortex will take a step forward into the role as the band´s lead vocalist, and will, together with Lars Nedland, carry on Borknagar’s legacy of vocal brilliance.”

Hedlund himself has checked in with the following message for fans:

“Time has come to make some tough decisions and let reality set the rules. It is with both a light and heavy heart I leave Borknagar as the lead vocalist. The light part is that it´s done in an amicable way and that this is the right thing to do for me, in respect for the fans and Borknagar. The heavy part is that it’s hard to leave something this meaningful and beautiful. My situation after the accident makes it hard to tour, and my job situation complicates things further. So in a way I’m not ‘leaving’ as such, it’s more like I’m putting some oil into the Borknagar machinery so the band can keep their busy schedule, get out on the road and meet you guys. Borknagar will always have a special place in my heart and mind, and I hope that I can do some guest performances further down the road. The guys in the band are fantastic musicians and persons and I wish them the best of luck. However, Cronian is not dead and may shake its head before you know it.”

Meanwhile, founding member Øystein Brun stated:

“It is with a lot of respect, gratitude and good memories I see one of my brothers in music set sails for new shores. Times are changing, and we both saw this coming for a while. Even though we are splitting as partners in Borknagar, I am happy to say that we have decided to carry on our musical brotherhood in Cronian. A new album will be released whenever time allows for that.”

Borknagar are currently putting the finishing touches on their new studio album, which will be their first since the 2016 effort, “Winter Thrice” and their eleventh overall.

Children Of Bodom Posts New Lyric Video “This Road” Online

Finland’s melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has unleashed the official lyric video for their new single “The Road.” You can check it out below.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments: “This Road was actually the last song I wrote but it ended up being the opening track and also one of the singles which makes me happy cos it’s one of my faves. It’s different from anything we’ve done since Follow the Reaper but it’s still new. Check it out and you’ll know what I mean.”

“Hexed” saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila (“I Worship Chaos,” “Halo Of Blood,” “Hatebreeder,” “Follow the Reaper” & “Hate Crew Deathroll”) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover, “For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with a little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“

Hexed track list:
1. This Road
2. Under Grass and Clover
3. Glass Houses
4. Hecate’s Nightmare
5. Kick in the Spleen
6. Platitudes and Barren Words
7. Hexed
8. Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)
9. Say Never Look Back
10. Soon Departed
11. Knuckleduster
12. I Worship Chaos (live)
13. Morrigan (live)
14. Knuckleduster (remix)
