Details Of Long Awaited Debut LP “Goddamn The Sun” Posted By Disharmony

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets March 3rd as the international release date for the LONG-awaited debut album of Greece’s Disharmony, “Goddamn the Sun.”

Disharmony are an often-overlooked entry in the history of Greek black metal. Formed in 1991, but broken up by ’95, the band would record three demos and a cult EP on the legendary Molon Lave label. Although Disharmony’s sound early on slotted well into the classic Hellenic BM paradigm – militant pulse, mystical atmosphere, deep roots in traditional metal – the band largely took a more unorthodox approach, touching upon Beheritian weirdness and ritualistic soundscaping, but always with a thoroughly occult aura. Longtime fans of the band, Iron Bonehead collected Disharmony’s old discography together under the title Vade Retro Satana and released it on CD and double-LP formats in 2016, reintroducing the band to old fans as well as younger generations.

But, now 2017 dawns and Disharmony has been resurrected, and the long-promised debut album will finally arrive. Immediately, it is clear that this is a work of ancient Hellenic darkness; those immediately recognizable fundamentals are firmly in place, and it is literally like a blast from the past – specifically for pioneering Greek black metal, the watershed year of 1993. And yet, so many years and a couple decades later, there is a new and strikingly refreshing sense of refinement to Disharmony on “Goddamn the Sun.” Long gone the unorthodox accoutrements may be, but what takes their stead is a stout ‘n’ surging iteration of Hellenic classicism, triumphant and otherworldly in equal measure, and still emitting a sulfurous sensation of aeons-old occultism.

Even the cover art to “Goddamn the Sun” itself (shown below) suggests an eldritch era, sometimes forgotten but never fully dead. And finally, seemingly a lifetime in the making, Disharmony have stepped forward to ascend the throne of this rich, timeless pantheon. The first step can be taken at Iron Bonehead’s Soundcloud with the track “Elochim,” which you can enjoy in the player below.

The track listing is as follows:

1. Invocation – Troops Of Angels
2. The Gates Of Elthon
3. Elochim
4. Summon The Legions
5. War In Heaven
6. Rape The Sun
7. Praise The Fallen
8. Whore Of Babylon
9. The Voice Divine
10. Third Resurrection

Ruby The Hatchet Finishes Recording New Album

Philly heavy psych quintet Ruby The Hatchet has completed work on a new album. The as-yet-untitled album is slated for a spring 2017 release via Tee Pee Records.

The bewitching rock troop featuring vocalist Jillian Taylor, guitarist Johnny Scarps, bassist Lake Muir, drummer Owen Stewart and organist Sean Hur, recorded this album in an 1800’s era estate deep in the Pennsylvania woods with engineers Joe Boldizar (Retro City Studios) and Zach Goldstein (Kawari Sound).

“Setting up shop and recording ourselves in an 1800’s era estate has been a pleasure and a labor,” comments Taylor. “We built the studio in house from the ground up – mostly Sean (organ), with help from our friends at Kawari Sound and Retro City Studios. From homemade preamps to third floor room mics hidden in echo chambers, the tones on this album are truly vintage. Putting ourselves into seclusion provided a process that influenced the album’s sound, allowing us to create our own pocket of deep space rock inside of a time warp where everything else stopped – politics, personal shit, the day-to-day worries that tarnish the soul…all gone. This album is like nothing we have ever made before.”

More details on Ruby The Hatchet’s upcoming album will be released soon. For now, the band will launch a U.S. tour alongside labelmates Earthless on December 2nd in Chicago, IL. Dates are as follows:

December 2 Chicago, IL Empty Bottle
December 3 St Louis, MO The Firebird
December 4 Norman, OK OPOLIS
December 6 Dallas, TX Club Dada
December 7 Austin, TX Barracuda
December 8 Houston, TX Rudyard’s Pub

Burnt Books Announces “Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire”

Closing a two-year gap since its debut album, Columbia, South Carolina’s Burnt Books has hooked up with independent label Retro Futurist, founded by members of Kylesa, for the release of recently completed second full-length, “Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire.”

Burnt Books formed in October 2011, its members hailing from a variety of local bands. Matt Thompson and Troy Thames of Guyana Punch Line and Thank God joined Joey Parker and Chuck Sligh of Tunguska to create the blended driving force of Burnt Books, and the addition of Zoe Lollis brought beautiful yet brutal vocals to the fold.

After touring on a self-titled debut album which rocketed forth through At A Loss Recordings in January 2013, the band started writing with a more refined vision and focus. Burnt Books once again enlisted Phillip Cope (Kylesa, Baroness, Lazer/Wulf) to produce the release at The Jam Room Recording Studio in the band’s hometown.

An advance taste of the album is now online – check out “Stupid Game” below, courtesy of CVLT Nation. Due out March 20th, the track listing is as follows:

1. Escape
2. Shadow I Cast
3. Useless Emotions
4. Those Arms
5. Bridges
6. Stupid Game
7. The Harm We’ve Done
8. Burn Virgin
9. La Rosa

Old Wounds Finishes Work On “The Suffering Spirit”

Old Wounds has completed work on upcoming second full-length album, “The Suffering Spirit,” due out later this year via Good Fight Music.

The New Jersey band recorded with producer Andreas Magnusson at Planet Red Studios in Richmond, Virginia. Old Wounds drummer Brandon Gallagher gives this report:

“We just completed the recording of ‘The Suffering Spirit,’ our second LP. I think this release accurately expresses our growth as a band both musically and emotionally. We’ve been on the road almost nonstop since the release of our first LP, ‘From Where We Came Is Where We’ll Rest,’ and in between tours we worked on writing better songs that were released on the Trenchfoot split and the ‘Death Projection’ EP.

“Once it was time to sit down and really start focusing on this new album we knew exactly what we wanted and we went for it. Going into the studio with Andreas was a big help too. He knows his craft extremely well and I think he brought out the best in us.”
