Whitechapel launches new single, “Black Bear”

– December 13th, 2018 –

Artwork by Branca Studio

On March 29th, Whitechapel will release their 7th full-length, The Valley, via Metal Blade Records. Mixed by David Castillo, mastered by Ted Jensen, and produced once again by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder), The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. “Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that,” says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. “I feel our music is Phil’s release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well.”

For a preview of The Valley, the new single “Black Bear” can be heard now at: youtu.be/X7pvYfWD1P0

Anyone throwing The Valley on for the first time will immediately recognize it as the work of Whitechapel, yet as has been the case with each release, there is also evolution in play. “Sound-wise, it’s all over the place,” Bozeman states plainly. “There’s aggression, and then you’re hit with ominous and emotional guitar riffs. It’s mean, but then transfers to soft and inviting. It’s a whirlwind of emotions throughout.”

Stay tuned for more news about The Valley coming soon!

Between the Buried and Me preparing to film new DVD following upcoming tour

– February 14th, 2014 –

Between the Buried and Me (BTBAM) have announced that they will be filming a brand new DVD in March! The concept behind this project is in contrast with the band’s ambitious and impressive live stage productions – this will feature the band in a small studio, an intimate setting in which they will perform “The Future Sequence” in its entirety. Joining the band for this performance will be a small group of auxiliary musicians, including percussionists, saxophone, flute, string quartet. BTBAM will record at the Fidelitorium outside Winston-Salem, NC after the conclusion of their upcoming North American tour. Director Justin Reich will be behind the cameras for this project, and longtime BTBAM producer, Jamie King, will mix and master the audio. The release date is tentatively scheduled for the Fall.

Between the Buried and Me front man Tommy Rogers adds: “We are very happy to announce that we are finally doing a DVD for The Future Sequence. In this age we live in you can watch us play any of our songs live online. So we wanted to give our fans something a little different… an intimate live performance of us playing in a studio. It will be a wonderful experience and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoy playing these songs.”

The band’s headlining tour of North America begins next week. Joining BTBAM on this trek will be Deafheaven, Intronaut, and The Kindred. In anticipation of the tour, BTBAM has released a short video that was recorded during their most recent North American headline tour at the end of 2013. The video, as the band describes is: “The process. The preparation. A small glimpse into the beginnings of a BTBAM show. Let’s switch off together.” The video was produced, filmed and directed by Raymond McCrea Jones & Wes Richardson, with editing done by Raymond McCrea Jones, and visual FX by Wes Richardson. Watch it now at youtube.com/btbamofficial.

VIP mega bundles are available now exclusively via SHOWstubs.com! Additional limited (25 per city!) VIP packages are also available now on SHOWstubs.com and general admission tickets are available at your local box office and/or venue website.

KING DIAMOND featured on the cover of Decibel Magazine’s January issue

– November 21st, 2013 –

Single-issue advance copies available for sale in the Decibel webstore now!

Unassailable living heavy metal legend. Close personal friend of Anton LaVey (R.I.P.). Internationally certified lab assistant? Believe it or not, all describe the immortal King Diamond, who finally graces the cover of Decibel this month.

The thankfully newly healthy Mercyful Fate/King Diamond ringleader let J. Bennett into his inner occult circle — in the Dallas suburbs, of all places — for a fascinating career retrospective. Ever candid and compelling, the still hungry proto-corpse painted icon links his historic past to a bright, unwritten future.

Diamond’s visions headline the annual Top 40 Albums of the Year issue, our always-controversial rankings of the year’s finest in extreme music. There were plenty of exceptional candidates for the top spot — In Solitude, Gorguts, Inquisition, Carcass, SubRosa — but you’d better hit the webstore to find out before your friends spoil the whole damn thing. And bonus: you’ll want to hear that ripping Toxic Holocaust flexi, too.

The issue will be on newsstands from early December until the end of the year. If you’re not a subscriber or cannot find a copy of the King Diamond issue in your local retailer, you can order through the magazine’s webstore HERE.

Keep up to date with all things King Diamond and Mercyful Fate at KingDiamondCoven.com.

Decibel Magazine is available in the US at these retailers:
Barnes & Noble, Books-A- Million, Hastings, Chapters and Newbury Comics locations, and select FYE. Distributed by Ingram Distribution Services, Ubiquity, Retail Vision and Source Interlink.
