Circle Of Witches Recruits New Bassist Daniel “The Wolf” Shepard

Italian heavy metal stoner band Circle Of Witches today announces the recruitment of a new bass player: Daniel “The Wolf” Shepard of Heimdall. He was selected among three candidates who replied to band’s calling in June, after a sudden split with Caputo.

Circle Of Witches will play new songs live from the upcoming “Natural Born Sinners,” scheduled for release on the very first month of 2018. Circle Of Witches is:

Mario “HELL” Bove – lead vocals and guitar

Essence Of Sorrow Recruits New Vocalist Germán Pascual

Essence Of Sorrow – the Finnish/Swedish band founded by Jani Stefanovic (Solution .45, Miseration) released debut album “Reflections Of The Obscure” in 2006 featuring both Mats Leven (ex. Yngwie Malmsteen, Gus G, ex.Therion, Candlemass) and Christian Palin (ex. Adagio) on vocals.

Due to Mats and his busy schedule, Christian Palin was set to take care of the live duties. The band got off with a promising start doing shows in Scandinavia and northern parts of Europe. Although the band had a promising future ahead it would not be without bumps, which sadly resulted in putting the band on ice.

The plan was always to put the band up in motion again, and that time has come and after a few years of silence. Essence Of Sorrow has a new line up and is working on new material planned to hit the shops in 2016.

Today the band announces the recruitment of Germán Pascual on vocals and Jaakko Nikko on bass. The current lineup consists of:

Germán Pascual – Vocals (ex. Mind´s Eye, ex. Narnia, ex, Empire 21)
Jani Stefanovic – Guitars (Solution .45, Miseration)
Tom Gardiner – Guitars (Red Eleven, Hateform, ex. Solution .45)

Katatonia Enters The Recording Studio, Recruits New Drummer

Sweden’s Katatonia has confirmed the recruitment of drummer Daniel ‘Mojjo’ Moilanen. Vocalist Jonas Renkse recalls:

“We first met Mojjo back in 2009 where his band at the time, Engel, had joined up with us and Paradise Lost on a U.K. tour and we soon realized we shared the same musical background and ideals. We stayed in touch over the years and when Daniel Liljekvist quit Katatonia in 2014 we decided to give Mojjo a call. He has now been with us for well over a year, so far only as a live member, but now is the time for him to join the Katatonia album cycle and most importantly – make his own impression on our new material. We can’t wait to see what this will lead to. Love him up!”

Mojjo added: “From 1993 via 2009 to 2014, from today and onward into future battles. I am thankful, delighted and proud to take part in the next phase of Katatonia and I am looking forward to the journey being as giving as it has been for the last 22 years.”

Along with Mojjo, Katatonia has entered Stockholm’s Studio Gröndahl with engineer Karl Daniel Lidén to commence the recording of a 10th album. The new album is due out in 2016 on Peaceville Records and follows up the 2012 album “Dead End Kings” (reviewed here). More details on the band’s new album will be released in the coming weeks.

In addition, Katatonia has confirmed live shows for 2016. All announced dates, along with two Bloodbath appearances next month, can be seen below.

Nibiru Recruits New Drummer L.C. Chertan

Italian psychedelic sludge band Nibiru announces today the recruitment of new drummer L.C. Chertan (Origod). L.C. had this to say:

“Since the first time I listened to Nibiru I’ve been impressed by the huge emotional and spiritual blast they are able to create. When they asked me to join the band, I agreed in order to improve as a drummer, confronting myself with a very different style from my post-hardcore band Origod. Thanks to Nibiru, I can emotionally express the deepest and darkest side of myself.”

Vocalist/guitarist Ardath adds: “L.C. Chertan from Origod officially joins Nibiru. It’s not easy to find a bond with our music and three ‘outside the box’ people like us, but L.C. Chertan made it. After just a few rehearsals we have found what we were looking for: more power and relentless energy also on stage, as we have some important live shows to be announced soon. Siatris will support me as guitarist and vocalist, just like he did during ‘Padmalotus’ recording sessions. Nibiru will show no mercy.”

The band’s album, “Padmalotus,” was released via Argonauta Records on May 18, 2015 and can be heard below.

Chainsheart Signs With Pitch Black Records

Pitch Black Records is pleased to announce the recruitment of Cyprus band Chainsheart, with the label issuing this statement:

“Chainsheart is a classic hard rock / heavy metal band from Cyprus comprised of seasoned musicians, all of whom are extremely passionate rockers and this is clearly evident throughout their music and performances.

“The band began in 2011 as the solo project of vocalist Yiannis Savva who soon after decided to form a band, thus Chainsheart was born.

“In late 2012 the band released a first album (‘Just Another Day’) as a self-release. A purely hard rock album, it received positive feedback from press and media. The band however underwent several line-up changes and has finally found its true sound and style – classic heavy metal.

“Chainsheart is now back with second album, titled ‘Leaving Planet Hell,’ an album filled with anthemic heavy metal tunes, melodic lines, energy and passion and of course that somewhat ‘old-school’ sound reminiscent of the good old days! Make no mistakes here; fists will be up high while headbanging will be non-stop upon listening to this album!”

New album “Leaving Planet Hell” features guest keyboards by Bob Katsionis (Firewind) and a guest vocal performance by Nicholas Leptos (Warlord, Arrayan Path). The album was mixed by Bob Katsionis at his own Sound Symmetry Studio in Athens, Greece. It will be out on June 5th (EU) / June 8th (UK) / June 9th (US) on CD and digital formats.
