Unholy Dutch Death Metallers AntropomorphiA are currently busy in the studio recording their next album‚ Merciless Savagery. The album is being recorded at Aftermath studios and will be produced by drummer Marco Stubbe. Mastering duties will be handed over to infamous Dan Swano in December for a tentative release in spring of 2019!

AntropomorphiA comments: “As we shred closer to the end of the recordings of our 4th full length album, everything feels more pervasive than ever before. While we went through some unsettling dark and overwhelming times during the writing of this album, which is not necessarily something negative in our realm, it gave us the hostile anger and exact perspective to move forward and create this audial landscape. Our origins are weaved within the structure of this album but there was a lot of new ground to be discovered. It’s brutal, it’s dark, it’s hateful, filled with infectious riffs and a ‘fuck you’ to a mostly repetitive scene.”

In other news the band had a line-up change just recently. Bassist Marc van Stiphout has left the band and AntropomorphiA have called Jeroen Pleunis to duty. “Marc parts ways with us with no hardship or ill will. Marc’s follow up is Jeroen Pleunis (ex-Villainy), Jeroen is no stranger to the band and he will bring his talent and raging madness to our fold. As the landscape changes a new era begins, gates will open and spew forth a beast of hellish ferociousness.”

AntropomorphiA line-up:
Ferry Damen – vocals, guitar
Jos van den Brand – guitar
Jeroen Pleunis – bass
Marco Stubbe – drums

Grand Magus Begins Work On New Album, Posts Trailer Online

Swedish riff lords Grand Magus are currently working on the follow up to their highly acclaimed 2016 album Sword Songs. The band have already ensconced themselves at Sweetspot Studio in Sweden to kick off the recording process with producer Staffan Karlsson (Arch Enemy Firewind, Spiritual Beggars).

Singer/guitar player JB states:

“The Magus is back in the studio to record the ninth album. It’s been a very special process this time. We decided to let go of the current philosophy to record drums first and then bass and then guitar etc. This time we met up, jammed and created together during the last six months with the goal to record basic tracks live. That basically means the thing we do every time we play live. When we do that, we play together. It’s music after all, not a science project. This led us to use the studio you see in the video. We recorded take by take (usually first takes, haha) until the groove, feel and violence was right. Now we will start with the overdubs, solos and vocals. We are chuffed and we think you will be too. Metal victory!”

Amorphis Premiere New Music Video “Amongst Stars” – Anneke Van Giersbergen Guests

Amorphis are celebrating the release of their thirteenth studio album “Queen Of Time” with the below debut of their new music video for “Amongst Stars“. The song and clip both feature a guest appearance from Anneke Van Giersbergen (Vuur, ex-The Gathering).

Explains Amorphis’ lead guitarist Esa Holopainen:

“‘Amongst Stars‘ turned out as one of the most solid songs on the album. The song itself was not the easiest one to work with.

We tried a lot of different variations during the pre-production and finally Jens‘ co-producer friend Per Aldeheim came up with these great vocal lines and idea for an duetto.

We have been privileged to work with Anneke before so it was pretty clear to ask her to help us out with the song. As everyone knows her voice is more than stunning and she is surrounded by incredibly positive aura.

As a result we have a really beautiful and catchy duetto where both singers do unbelievable work. We are extremely happy that Anneke was available during the time of our recordings and it was great to get her to the video as well. Lucky us.”

Commeents Anneke Van Giersbergen:

“When Amorphis asked me to participate in a song for their new album, I immediately said yes without having to listen to it first because I knew it would be good.

But when they sent it to me to start working on it and I was totally blown away! It‘s such a powerful and melodic song, I am proud to be part of it. The video for this song is equally epic.

The guys of Amorphis look and sound fantastic and I am truly happy to ride with them on this journey towards their new album.”
