Exmortus Back In The Studio & Recruit Warbringer Members For Studio Sessions

Exmortus have started tracking their new album at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA. Those sessions are helmed by producer Zack Ohren (Immolation, Fallujah). Exmortus have recruited Warbringer members drummer Carlos Cruz and guitarist Chase Becker for the sessions.

Vocalist/guitarist Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez comments:

“We’re all stoked to record the new album with Zack, it’s the third time we’ve worked together and we feel very comfortable with him. He is a great engineer and always gets the best performances from the band. It’s unfortunate that [drummer] Mario Moreno and [guitarist] David Rivera will be stepping out for this session, but nonetheless we’re very excited to record with good friends and awesome. Can’t wait to release these heavy tunes.”

Dark Buddha Rising’s “II” Set To Drop Via Neurot Recordings This March

Prepare your mind, body, and the deepest recesses of your soul: the black gates that Dark Buddha Rising unlocked a decade ago with “I”, open further in 2018, as the band announce the “II” EP, due for release via Neurot Recordings on March 23rd, 2018. “II” continues to traverse spiritual planes, exposing a vortex with their sonic calls from beyond.

Sample new sounds with this immersive video below:

For ten years, the Finnish band has convened in the now-famous Wastement studio space, set below their home city of Tampere, Finland, to roil in the sounds of the underground, to meet dark spirits, to breathe in time with rhythmic pulses sent from the skies, the stars, and the very dirt around them.

On the surface, the band emits the blackest of psychedelia. Deep down, their sounds are forged in the blue fires of the ancients; exhalations of gods, goddesses and demons alike. Of this new offering, V. Ajomo notes, “To drain our sonic temple, we wanted to record the new material which was made for 2016 shows in order to proceed towards the unknown with open minds and hearts. After the cleansing, we initiated our chamber with ambient meditation and opened the portals of inspiration for our future work.”

“II” sees Dark Buddha Rising return to its purest incarnation: J.Rämänen on drums, P. Rämänen on bass, and V. Ajomo on guitar, J. Saarivuori on synths and M. Neuman on main vocals. “We have done a full cycle of the orbit and now is the time for gravitational slingshot towards the new dimensions in sound, deliverance and vision,” says Ajomo.

The EP’s A-side was recorded and mixed in Space Junk Studio by K.Nyyssönen and B-side was recorded in Wastement by Dark Buddha Rising and mixed by S. Tamminen.

Havok’s David Sanchez Issues Update On Broken Wrist

David Sanchez from Havok has checked in with the following health update after breaking his wrist:

“As many of you know, I broke my left wrist a few months ago and we had to cancel a week of shows on our tour with Crowbar.

“Well, here’s some GOOD news… It has been about a month since my wrist surgery, so I figured I would update everyone on my status. The surgery went well and I have been working hard to rehabilitate myself quickly. The doctors have even told me that I am healing much faster than average!

“That means that once this thing is fully healed, I will be back to playing guitar like normal and we will wrap up the writing on the new HAVOK album. We plan to record the new album later this year. You guys are gonna love what we’ve got cookin’… Prepare for massively heavy, evil riffage!
(We will make up those cancelled dates as soon as possible.)

“Thanks so much for your continued support of the band. I love and appreciate you all!”

– July 9th, 2014 –

Helsinki, Finland – July 9, 2014 – Finland’s Ensiferum have spent the summer of 2014 on tour through Europe, and will also perform in Japan this winter. In the midst of bringing their melodic folk-infused attack to stages worldwide, the band has been crafting songs for their sixth studio album (their Metal Blade Records debut), and the writing process is nearing completion. They plan to record the new album in September and October of this year with producer Anssi Kippo at Astia Studio in Finland. The release date is tentatively scheduled for early 2015.

Bassist Sami Hinkka has offered the following update:
Hi folks! They say that time flies when you are having a good time and we couldn’t agree more. We have been quite busy touring around the world since our previous album came out few years ago. Between tours we have worked hard with new songs and now we are very proud to announce that Ensiferum will hit studio again right after summer festival season.

On the new album we will take everything to eleven, it’s going to be fast, furious, epic and full of surprises but of course there will be classic Ensiferum elements included.

We will do the album with the one and only Mr. Anssi Kippo. Pre-production is already going really well and in few weeks we will record another demo of all new songs. Then it’s time to continue twisting and turning all the details so that in early 2015 our fans on every continent can be sure to get in their hands the best folk metal album ever made.
