Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper Announces North American Tour Dates

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper will tour North America starting in New Hampshire on September 27, 2018 and wrap up with a two night stint at The Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.

Dissonance Productions released the long awaited album from Steve Grimmett‘s GRIM REAPER entitled ’Walking In The Shadows‘ almost two years ago. It was the band‘s first new recording since 1987‘s Rock You To Hell.

Grim Reaper‘s story begins in 1979 after successfully fighting off hundreds of bands in a local Battle Of The Bands competition. This win, combined with an already sizeable following, aroused the interest of Ebony Records. Signing with the small UK label, Grim Reaper released three albums in rapid succession to international acclaim. Due to legal turmoil with Ebony, Grim Reaper would disband in 1988. Grimmett would go on to record with Onslaught, Lionsheart, and more recently The Sanity Days debut Evil Beyond Belief. His renowned vocal range remains one of metal‘s most identifiable with loyal fans turning out in numbers to hear him perform.

Since reforming in 2006, Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper has made several European festival appearances including Germany‘s Keep It True, England‘s British Steel, Belgium‘s Heavy Sound, and Sweden‘s Muskelrock as well as touring North and South America.

As widely reported Steve had to have part of his leg amputated in Ecuador while on the bands South American tour in January 2017 after an operation to stem an aggressive infection failed. Since then Steve has got himself back up and out on the road worldwide.

Anette Olzen Teams With Jani Liimatainen For The Dark Elemen

The Dark Element – the union of former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzen and Cain’s Offering guitarist/songwriter Jani Liimatainen – will release the self-titled debut album “The Dark Element” on November 10th via Frontiers Music srl. The band also released the eponymous first single, which you can check out in the player at the bottom.

Since word of this project got out, fans have been frothing at the mouth with anticipation for it’s arrival. And no wonder considering the talent involved! Anette is widely known for being the immaculate voice on the hit albums from Nightwish, “Dark Passion Play” and “Imaginareum”. Jani has recently been busy in Cain’s Offering alongside Stratovarius singer Timo Kotipelto, but left a deep mark on the minds of all power metal fans thanks to his time in Sonata Arctica.

Jani Liimatainen: “I have always been a big fan of Anette’s voice and when the opportunity to work with her arose, writing and producing an album, it was something I just couldn’t say no! It has been a blast working on the songs and I can’t wait for everyone to hear the final result. This will be epic! The songs are extremely melodic and to the point. My goal has been to write catchy songs with hooks that will haunt your dreams, and I think it’s pretty much ‘mission accomplished’. Stay tuned for something special!”

Anette Olzon: “I am so looking forward to this album and I believe our collaboration worked like a perfect match and I am really happy that Jani and Frontiers asked me to do this with them!”

The track listing for the album is:

1. The Dark Element
2. My Sweet Mystery
3. Last Good Day
4. Here’s to You
5. Someone You Used to Know
6. Dead to Me
7. Halo
8. I Cannot Raise the Dead

Bell Witch Announces Single-Song Album “Mirror Reaper”

Seattle doom metal duo Bell Witch will release third full-length album “Mirror Reaper” worldwide on October 20th via Profound Lore Records. With “Mirror Reaper,” Bell Witch has created an enormous work – one continuous, eighty-three-minute piece unfolding as a single track.

Engineered and mixed by veteran producer Billy Anderson (Swans, Sleep, Neurosis), the duo of Dylan Desmond (bass, vocals) and Jesse Shreibman (drums, vocals, organ) have pushed the band’s sound further beyond 2015 LP, “Four Phantoms.” The artwork for Mirror Reaper was painted by Mariusz Lewandowski.

Bell Witch comments: “The title ‘Mirror Reaper’ is indicative of the Hermetic axiom ‘As Above, So Below,’ written with two sides to form one whole. The song is both its own and its reflection, as an opposite is whole only with its contrary. Our focus as a band has always been the perception of ghosts and the implied archetype of the dichotomy of life/death therein. ‘Mirror Reaper’ is a continuation of that concept.

“During the writing process we were devastated by the loss of our dear friend and former drummer, Adrian Guerra. In love and respect to his memory, we reserved an important yet brief section in the song for him that features unused vocal tracks from our last album. This specific movement serves as a conceptual turn in the piece, or point of reflection. We believe he would be proud of it as well. ‘Mirror Reaper’ was the first collaborative writing project with the new lineup, and Adrian’s death during it brought extra emotional weight. We sought to match the complexity and weight of these events within the composition of the piece.”
