Armed For Apocalypse Premiere New Track “Forced To An End”

Armed For Apocalypse have scheduled a September 28th release date for their upcoming EP, “Palm Reader“. That four song effort will be a digital release with a new full-length planned to follow in early 2019. A new track from it entitled “Forced To An End” can be streamed below.

Comments vocalist Nate Burman:

“I think we all fall victim to being stuck at a day job that we hate at a certain point in our lives. I remember pacing around work one day feeling trapped somewhere that I didn’t want to be, making someone else’s dreams come true rather than my own. Sure, it’s scary to be financially unstable in order to pursue what you love to do, but it’s absolutely crippling to think about being stuck at a place you’re miserable at just for a paycheck.”

In other news, the group will be back out on the road later this month for a run of shows with The Lion’s Daughter on select dates. Those stops include:

09/24 Bend, OR – 3rd St. Pub
09/26 Spokane, WA – The Observatory
09/27 Kalispell, MY – Old School Records
10/01 Omaha, NE – Lookout Lounge

Palm Reader Posts “By The Ground, We’re Defined” Music Video

Palm Reader today reveals a new video for “By The Ground, We’re Defined,” taken from second full-length, “Beside The Ones We Love,” which is out now on In At The Deep End Records

The video is a continuation of theme from the “I Watch The Fire Chase My Tongue” clip released last year.

Palm Reader’s Josh McKeown comments: “‘By The Ground, We’re Defined’ explores themes and comparisons of human life to the more simple existence of nature. As humans we over complicate our existence from just the fundamental aspects of survival and in many cases, forget what is important in life. Come and catch us on tour and I’ll tell you all about it!”

John Wesley Working On New Album

Last year John Wesley (Porcupine Tree) released his “Disconnect” album, and he is pleased to announce he is now working on its follow-up. Wesley had this to say:

“I have begun sorting through ideas and direction for the next album and have started the process of writing pieces that will come together to form the basis for the album. I will be using much of the same team that recorded the last album and hope to begin actual tracking in the late spring early summer. Until then I will be doing shows in and around Florida and hopefully start working some of the new ideas out in the live set.”

John has been receiving a lot of love in the end of year polls, being voted into Prog Magazine’s Critics Choice Albums of the Year, as well as one of their top guitarists in the reader’s poll.

You can check out an interview with John about Disconnect and his career over at Innerviews here, and you can see a video for the “Disconnect” title track below. Stay tuned for further details on the upcoming album, which will be released via Inside Out Music.

Fossils Streaming Two Tracks From “The Meating” EP

Copenhagen-based extreme label Indisciplinarian has announced the release of “The Meating” EP by fellow Danes, Fossils. The label comments:

“On ‘The Meating,’ the Fossils duo steps far outside of their generally completely instrumental works, capturing the vocal interpretations of seven tracks from their first album, ‘Meat Rush,’ as performed by various singers at the ‘Flesh Hammer’ LP release show in March 2014.

“Originally thought as a one-off at the release event, the performers were subsequently brought into the studio to document their contributions to the original tracks. The result is ‘The Meating,’ a highly seductive abnormality with high energy vocals, noise and poetry contributions for all to enjoy while waiting for the next instrumental Fossils album to arrive in the beginning of 2016.”

Two tracks from T”he Meating” — “Deadringer” featuring Jacob Bredahl (The Kandidate, ex-HateSphere) and “The Ridge And The Rock” featuring Marie Højlund (Marybell Katastrophy) — are now streaming below.

“The Meating” will be released on cassette and digital formats on March 3rd, 2015, exactly one year after the release of the band’s “Flesh Hammer” sophomore LP. The track listing is:

1. Deadringer (feat. Jacob Bredahl – The Kandidate, ex-HateSphere)
2. Taxon (feat. Ultimate Combat Noise)
3. Meat Lover (feat. Mads Stobberup – Cola Freaks)
4. Ridge and the Rock (feat. Marie Højlund – Marybell Katastrophy)
5. Speedbacon (feat. Seb Doubinsky)
6. Ham Reader (feat. Mikko Mansikkala Jensen)
7. Ködhabit (feat. Kim Kix – Powersolo)

Palm Reader Preparing To Enter The Studio

U.K. outfit Palm Reader has issued the following statement online about entering the studio to record a new album:

“Dear friends,

“Last year was a landmark year for us as a band and us as people. Because of you fine folk have supported us we’ve been able to cross quite a few things of our bucket lists, so many, many thanks for all your support.

“In just over a weeks time we’ll heading into the studio with our good chum and co-conspirator Lewis Johns to record our second album. I know every band says this, but this is by a country mile the best material we have written. Another tired and tedious phrase: ‘we can’t wait for you to hear it’ again is quite apt. It’s going to be an experience.

“This is only possible because of you lovely lovely people. So, from the bottom of our withered black hearts, thank you for everything.”

Mutilation Rites Announces Upcoming Festival Appearances

Cincinnati, Ohio should be on the lookout, as the New York “filthy black metal” quartet Mutilation Rites will perform there as part of the second annual “Death on the Vine” festival alongside Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Immolation, Origin and several more.

Unkempt Splits With Guitarist Jason Sims, Seeking Replacement

Florida metal act Unkempt has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band’s guitarist:

“As those of you may know who were in attendance at our last show with Six Feet Under in Tampa, FL we recently congratulated our guitarist and dear friend Jason Sims on becoming a father-to-be to twins! We are all very happy for Jason and wife Heather for such great news and their future in becoming great parents to likely two very talented children.

“Unfortunately with this great news we regret to inform you all that Jason will be stepping down as a member of the Unnkempt family to uphold his responsibilities as both a father and husband. Jason will, without a doubt, be very sorely missed. Now for some good news for you, the reader. This open position needs someone to fill it…and it could be you.

“We are in search of someone who can fill some very large shoes and we are opening the audition process up to everyone. You will be screened personally by the band. If you do not fit the requirements, we appreciate your support but please do not submit a request for pre-screening. We want to bring our family, friends, and fans the music we pour our heart and souls into as soon as possible and to do so we have to streamline this process as best we can. We are an established band and LLC, which means we are a registered business with accounts payable and accounts receivable. Help us to keep the engine running and we will all see you in the pit very soon. Here you will find the requirements to what we need in order to be eligible for pre-screening and to be contacted personally by the band for an audition.

“Thank you all so much for supporting the music and all we do and good luck!”
