Finnish Outfit No Man’s Land Forms, Working On New Music

New outfit No Man’s Land started in the spring of 2014 and has members from acts such as Thunderstone, Warmen, Northern Kings, and Kiuas. No Man’s Land consists of:

Pasi Rantanen – Vocals
Antti “Colonel” Wirman – Guitar
Mirka Rantanen – Drums
Time Schleifer – Bass
Jari Pailamo – Keyboards

Drummer Mirka Rantanen comments: “I wanted the playing to be fun. Any kind of ego boosting and dictatorial band leading would be totally out of the question. I also wanted to make the kind of music, which would be close to my heart and which I knew the other musicians like too.”

What is the sound of No Man’s Land? You can find that the band’s music is motivated strongly by the 1980’s hard rock and heavy atmosphere, where you can hear the echoes of the genre’s long-time favorites such as Whitesnake, Dokken, and Mr. Big.

“In this band everyone is the songwriter, involved in the making of the songs and music, their ideas are listened to and tried out in the rehearsal room,” Rantanen says.

No Man’s Land is currently in the studio working on demos, with details on a full album forthcoming.

“I had in my mind exactly this line-up and I was hoping that all would agree with this. What’s better, they shared my passion and agreed. I feel schoolboy enthusiasm towards No Man’s Land and I believe that the good feeling is passed on to the songs and listeners,” Rantanen says with a smile.

Thunderstone Seeks Submissions For Vacant Drummer Spot

Ever since breaking its silence, Finnish metal act Thunderstone has overhauled its lineup, splitting with drummer Mirka Rantanen and singer Rick Altzi and welcoming back former vocalist Pasi Rantanen. Now the band is seeking to fill the open drummer spot and is accepting submissions.

Here is the announcement and rules of submission:

“The current line-up of the band is:

“Vocals: Pasi Rantanen
Guitar: Nino Laurenne
Bass: Titus Hjelm
Keyboards: Jukka Karinen
Drums: … YOU?

“That’s right, for the first time in the history of the band, we are putting out an open call for drummers to audition for THUNDERSTONE! And we want to make it a process that everyone can enjoy, so read the next paragraphs carefully.

“This is what you need to do:

“1. Listen to the song ‘Forevermore’ (from Evolution 4.0)
2. Practice.
3. Record your playing on top of the backing track. You can do this either with a multitrack or just blasting away in front of your phone camera—as long as we can hear the original in the background.
4. Send the track to us by *09/09/2013*. Either:(a) send a link to an uploaded YouTube video, or (b) send your clip directly to us at thunderstone@thunderstone.org via www.wetransfer.com
5. When sending the link or the file, add the following text: ‘I give Thunderstone permission to use this recording on all social media platforms’.

6. OPTIONAL: If you have videos of your earlier performances on YouTube or elsewhere, send us a link. This is not required for consideration.
7. DO NOT link your video to the Thunderstone FB page by yourself. We want to build a YouTube channel from these submissions so that fans can find all of them in one place—and we want to keep the excitement going on!

“Simple, right? If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Just drop an email at thunderstone@thunderstone.org.

“All submissions will be given a serious and careful consideration by the band!”
