Fifth Angel Posts New Lyric Video “Stars Are Falling” Online; Announces Split With Guitarist

Fifth Angel released their first album in nearly thirty years, ‘The Third Secret’, in autumn 2018. Before the quartet will perform at Germany’s Metal Assault Festival (Würzburg) on February 16, they have launched a brand new lyric video for the track ‘Stars Are Falling’, the opening track of the aforementioned record. You can check it out below.

“‘Stars Are Falling’ is a song that will probably have different meanings for different people,” states Ken Mary. “Lyrically I don’t want to get too specific as again, I believe different meanings will be found by different people and I don’t want to ruin that for them. But the overall idea is that there is this race of life that we’re all in…where we strive, we fight, we struggle, and we depend on the fact that the sun will rise and that tomorrow is going to be here one way or another. There’s a time where that may not be the case; whether that’s on a global level or on a personal level. So really it’s a song to ponder some of the deeper meanings of life, actually. And with that, I believe I’ve said enough, lol!”

But additionally, there’s bad news from the band’s camp too as guitarist Kendall Bechtel has left the band.

In an official statement from Fifth Angel, this change was clarified:

“Kendall is a brother and will always be a part of the Fifth Angel legacy. However, if we are going to be honest, he has chosen a path that has left the band, the fans, our label Nuclear Blast, and our promoters in a very difficult situation. He decided that rather than fulfil the commitments that were already in place, he would leave the band with short notice, making it very difficult for the band to find a suitable replacement.”

Further, the band says, “After the success of ‘The Third Secret’ the timing is again difficult to understand. In an email to the band, Kendall Bechtel stated that the paths of Fifth Angel and he were “incongruent” and that he wished the band well. We feel that Kendall’s actions speak for themselves, but nonetheless, the band will be fulfilling its commitments. As a band, we feel we had success and made great albums before Kendall, and we hope to have the opportunity to continue doing so in the future as well.”

“In regards to the business at hand, filling in on guitar will be the incredible Ethan Brosh from Angels Of Babylon. Also, we always intended on having an additional singer handle all of the material from the first two albums and a singer that sounds more like original vocalist Ted Pilot. The singer for Metal Assault will be Steven Carlson, another Seattle native now based in Phoenix, who will now cover vocal duties on the three new songs in the set from ‘The Third Secret’ album as well as the first two albums. It is our sincere desire to play the music of FIFTH ANGEL with as high a level of excellence as possible, as it is our goal to leave the fans with an amazing live experience. We will do our very best to make that a reality, and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!”

Five Finger Death Punch Comments On Disastrous Tilburg Show

After a show in Tilburg last night was cut short last night and Ivan Moody apparently quit the band mid-set, Five Finger Death Punch has now released a statement about the situation. It doesn’t address the Moody situation at all, but does indicate the band will still continue touring. The band comments:

“Those who have followed 5FDP from the beginning can tell you there has always been an element of danger and unpredictability in our music and in our shows.

“That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. When you do over 150 shows in a year, you will inevitably have a few derailments, but the train always keeps on moving. Last night in Tilburg was one of those instances, but as they say, you aren’t a race car driver if you don’t wreck a car or two.

“We can’t wait to put on amazing shows tomorrow night at Nova Rock all the way to our just announced winter tour all over Europe. See you all on the race track… bring a helmet…”

Trapt’s Chris Taylor Brown Discusses Online Drama

Trapt has been taking some heat online lately due to vocalist Chris Taylor Brown discussing various political and racial topics that haven’t gone over well, as well as an altercation on tour with another band that spilled into online discussions.

In a recent interview with Loudwire, Brown addresses what has become a rather tumultuous past few months on social media, taking ownership of his recent comments regarding rumoured altercations with fellow musicians and various other publicized opinions. You can read Part one of the interview right here.

These events lead up to the release of new single and music video “Human (Like The Rest Of Us)”, which touches upon the theme that all of us are human, imperfect, and often make mistakes. Watch the new music video below.

Brown states, “We are all bound by the emotions that we as Humans are capable of feeling. When we numb ourselves, because the pain is too great, we are no longer Human. To be imperfect, to be emotional is Human. Your emotions guide you. Listen to them. They will allow you to feel empathy towards others and others to feel you, but only if you allow it. Open up and FEEL! Do not be afraid. The only way we can come together as one HUMAN RACE is through understanding each other. The only way to understand is to FEEL, even when it hurts the most. When you are hurting the most, others will feel it too. They will help you, as you do them. #Humanaboveall

He further comments: “First off, I want to say that I am imperfect, but that is what makes me who I am and what I think is part of being Human. This brings me to the recent spat of verbal barbs I threw around a few weeks ago that at times sounded mean and much like bullying. It should be easy to shrug off insults that have nothing to do with the subject you are talking about and are only meant to get a rise out of you, but I did not shrug it off and the way I went about defending myself is definitely not the way one should go about spreading a message and I apologize to anyone I may have offended. The message gets lost when you engage in this way.

“I read all of these words about one group of people having certain privileges over another based solely on the color of their skin and it doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t mean to poke fun at the whole thing, but, I did, and I take full responsibility for anyone who may have been hurt by me making fun of the white privilege concept. I have my views and want to express unity through music. I believe that we are all bound by the ability to feel the same emotions and that love and understanding can and do bring people of all races together. Anyone who wishes to segregate themselves can do so, while the rest of us move forward, as we have been for decades. I also believe that there are original sins and acknowledging them through the many advances that this country has made in regard to civil rights, go very far in showing how a country can come together for the greater good. We just made it possible for any human being to marry any other human being, how is that for progress?

“I admit that I can come across as harsh when my passion precedes me. If anything I have ever said comes across as racist, that was not my intention. If saying that ‘white privilege is the sole reason for one human being having more privilege over another’ is not true, makes someone feel as though, I or the band that I front is racist, then let me tell you now that this could not be further from the truth. Growing up in a mixed race household and having a side of the family whose roots start in Mexico versus a side of the family with roots in The United Kingdom, I have seen how people can be mistrusting of others based upon what they do not understand about them. Once they understand each other and get to know more about each other those walls are broken down. Understanding comes through clear messages and those that feel they need to be heard, should do all they can to be heard. I hate having to read how some people think that this can all be dumbed down to ‘the complexion of one’s skin.’ I have a problem with one group of people being singled out on the basis of their skin color.

“Again, the moral of the story is how you spread your message and what you want to say. Passion can trip you up. It tripped me up and I allowed the narrative to take turns that did not help spread the message I want to spread. I came across as racist to some, because I chose not to give merit to the idea that only skin complexion grants privilege. I want to tell anyone who is listening now that I believe every man and woman on this planet can rise together, but only through understanding each other’s struggles.”

Goatblood Releasing Split Album With Nuclear Perversions

Always on the hunt for the gnarliest, most uncompromising sounds in the metal underground, Iron Bonehead Productions proudly presents a split 7″ between Goatblood and Nuclear Perversions, due out March 6th. The label comments:

“Hailing from Germany, Goatblood’s side is titled ‘Rex Judaeorum’ and features three exclusive slabs of rough ‘n’ ragged blackgrind – often doomy, but always catchy and hailing the ways of filth.

“Nuclear Perversions’ likewise hail filth on their side, titled ‘Wolves of Apocalypse.’ Their two tracks follow on from their well-received ‘Desolation Rituals’ tape, here exhibiting even fouler black/death bestiality. ‘Rex Judaeorum / Wolves of Apocaylpse’ may fly by quickly, but its filth does not wash off…”

1. Rex Judaeorum
2. Enslave Your Race
3. Southland Parasite
4. Wolves of Apocalypse
5. Rituals of Menstrual Blood

Benchpress Releasing New Split With Martyr’s Tongue

Get This Right Records is preparing to release a bulldozing split between two heavy-hitters in the contemporary hardcore circuit: a brutal showdown between Pennsylvania’s Benchpress and Puerto Rico’s Martyr’s Tongue. The following press release was issued about the bands:

“Based out of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Benchpress formed in 2011 initially as a joke, the goal being to write beatdown anthems for gym-rats. Having developed into the metal-tinged, hard-hitting powerhouse the band is nowadays is the product of several lineup, influence and outlook changes over recent years, and with two EPs and a prior split under their belt, the quintet’s future appears to be nothing but promising. Benchpress’ venomous surge of hardcore in the realm of veterans Cold As Life and Merauder and on par with modern acts Suburban Scum, Empire of Rats and Harm’s Way, is displayed through two tracks on side A of this new split, ‘Penance’ and ‘Pissed Away,’ recorded, produced and mastered by Carson Slovak at Atrium Audio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

“San Juan, Puerto Rico-based Martyr’s Tongue lays down a landslide of pandemonium as corrosive as it is pulverizing. With several demos, splits and EPs released since 2001, the self-proclaimed ‘five audio terrorists preaching world genocide through sonic warfare’ unleash a brand of metallic mayhem born of the dark lords of Cleveland, Ringworm and Integrity, contemporized with more harsh noise, grime and electronic elements, putting them in the race with Rot In Hell, Full of Hell, Blind To Faith and the like. Their two anthems, ‘Deconstructive Process’ and ‘Unholy Communion,’ were mastered by Axel in San Juan, mercilessly overthrowing the B-side of this split platter.

The split is due out on vinyl and as a digital download on May 8th. The track listing is as follows:

1. Penance – BENCHPRESS
2. Pissed Away – BENCHPRESS
3. Deconstructive Process – MARTYR’S TONGUE
4. Unholy Communion – MARTYR’S TONGUE
