Fake Idols Inks Deal With Lifeforce Records

Lifeforce Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Fake Idols:

“We are proud to announce the signing of one of the most promising metal / hardrock acts to the Lifeforce Records roster, Fake Idols. People who are familiar with the Lifeforce Records catalogue might recognize some faces they already know and you’re totally right… Fake Idols was formed from the union of three well-known and recognized European bands in the hard rock/metal genre, (who previously released two albums on Lifeforce Records), Raintime, Slowmotion Apocalypse and Jar of Bones.

“Fake Idols announces its arrival on the scene with an explosive album that will surely please anyone who loves great songs and killer riffs, showcasing a surprising attitude in rock songwriting with their original and catchy sound. The selftitled effort is scheduled for a late April release. The debut album was recorded at Raptor Studios (Dufresne), featuring special guest Crucified Barbara’s singer Mia Coldheart.

“Some of the members of all three bands were united in their search for new sounds and have decided to join forces in this promising new project, relying on their different backgrounds and different musical influences and styles in order to infuse their invaluable musical experiences over the years into the new album.”

Bossk Signs With Deathwish, Working On New Album

Atmospheric post-everything band Bossk has joined the Deathwish family to release the “Pick Up Artist” EP. The label comments:

“The band released four promising recordings (‘1,’ ‘2,’ the ‘3’ DVD, and a split EP w/ Rinoa) on their own Eyes Of Sound label before taking temporary hiatus in 2008. After four years of dormancy, Bossk awoke from their slumber collectively inspired to create in 2012. The band soon performed at UK’s Damnation Festival In the Fall of 2012, and entered the studio to record the ‘Pick Up Artist.’

“A seven minute textural epic that is crushingly heavy and uniquely melodic. Crashing forward in two unique movements, ‘Pick Up Artist’ has a hypnotic ebb and flow that carries Bossk past obvious influences (Isis, Neurosis, etc.) as they expand into new uncharted territory. The song was released to the public via free download in the Fall of 2012 to critical acclaim.

“In 2013, Bossk completed a UK Tour (their first in four years) with Dragged Into Sunlight. The band also managed to enter the studio to record a version of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Albatross.’ A beautiful track that allows Bossk to explore the more serene peaks and valleys of their ever evolving sound. Deathwish are proud to announce a limited vinyl release of these two spectacular songs as one 7″ EP. Pre-ordering information will be announced sometime soon.”

Bossk plans to spend the rest of the year crafting a new album and playing select dates:

08/30: Somerset, England @ ArcTanGent Festival
08/31: Birmingham, England @ The Asylum w/ Dragged Into Sunlight
10/11: Capelle Aaan De Ijssel, Holland 2 @ Capslock w/ Atlantis, Late Night Venture
10/12: Amsterdam, Holland @ Winston w/ Atlantis, Late Night Venture

Century Media Brings Catalog Back To Spotify

Century Media Records and its associated labels InsideOut Music, Superball Music, and People Like You Records are pleased to announce that their entire repertoire is now available on Spotify.

“Spotify offers great tools to discover new artists. We feel that this is essential for our promising newcomers. In that respect, Spotify gives those artists a very good forum,” states Antje Lange, general manager Europe.

After the initial decision to pull the Century Media catalog from Spotify, label execs were impressed by the resulting debate, especially the messages and comments by the thousands of fans who weighed in on the issue. Fan sentiment and continued discussions with Spotify have resulted in the label reversing its initial decision.

“We respect that music fans wanted to have instant access to our catalog via Spotify,” states President of North America Don Robertson. “But we also have to consider the rights of our artists. After practicing some due diligence, we’re moving ahead confident that both the artist and the fan are being fairly served by this developing platform.”

Steve Savoca, Head of Content at Spotify, adds: “Spotify’s global growth provides a powerful platform for artists to connect directly with our hugely passionate audience. The return of Century Media’s fantastic catalog is cranking metal music to our ears.”

Thomas Waber, President of Superball and InsideOut Music sums it up: “We are looking forward to our fans being able to access our music again through the premium streaming service in the world. Hopefully they will discover great new music as a result!”
