Cold Blooded Posts “No Hope = No Problem” Video

A new video from death/thrash/grind outfit Cold Blooded just came online this morning. “No Hope = No Problem” is taken from the newly released album “Throneburner,” which dropped via Blackhouse Records. Though a dark and cathartic track about the ills of society, vocalist Ethan Kennedy has a different perspective on the “No Hope = No Problem” video itself.

Kennedy said: “it’s primarily a live video as we recorded our performance as well as off-stage antics. We filmed this during the Volume Music Festival in Spokane. It was an especially great night as the organizers (the Spokane Inlander newspaper) were cool enough to let Blackhouse records have a whole night to showcase their vast roster. Being able to share the stage with Slug Christ and Ras Kass as well as our regional counterparts in Zan, Scatterbox, Infrablaster and Narrow Minded made the shoot truly memorable.”

Cameos from many of the Blackhouse family (including label honcho Scott Rozell) also appear in the video. Inspired by the division in the country during the recent presidential election as well as violence in America, “Throneburner” is a particularly turbulent album. Further adding to the sonic fury is Bill Nieman in the Producers chair and Topon Das (of avant-grind freaks, Fuck The Facts) who contributes several sound-collage interludes and masters the record.

The band has several upcoming live shows scheduled, including:

8/18 Seattle, WA The Kraken Klaw
8/19 Everett, WA Tony V’s Garage Klaw, Method 13
8/31 Spokane, WA The Pin Decapitated, Thy Art Is Murder

Nothing Left Signs With Facedown Records For New EP Release

Facedown Records has inked a new deal with Nothing Left for a new EP release this spring. The label comments:

“We are so excited to welcome Nothing Left, featuring Ryan and Brandon Leitru, formerly of metalcore juggernaut For Today to the Facedown family! The band will release its debut EP ‘Destroy and Rebuild’ on April 21 via Facedown. The EP is available for pre-order at Merch Now in both CD and LP format, along with digital and merch bundles.”

Ryan Leitru further states: “In the current state of a lot of heavy music circles, there is a lot of music that is made by bands (or their producers) just to cater to a specific audience. It leads to a lot of safe and sometimes not very genuine music. It’s easy to get jaded when you’re too close to that type of world. One way to fight that and keep your passion for what you do is to go back to what first made you love music.

“With the Destroy and Rebuild EP, we tried to do that and as a result you can hear some of the influences from stuff that was happening when we were growing up in this music scene. Both in life and in music, a great way to move forward is to look back first, and learn from it.”

Rublood Posts “Electro Starfuckers” Music Video

Rublood just released a video for the single “Electro Starfuckers,” taken from the band’s debut album “Star Vampire,” which was released on Bakerteam Records (read our review here). Bakerteam also comments:

“Inspired by the atmospheric sounds of bands such as Rammstein, Depeche Mode, Joy Division and Deathstars, Rublood soon developed a very distinctive personality, mixing heavy riffs, dark atmospheres and poetic lyrics with strong visuals.

“When they perform on stage, Rublood delight their audience with a magnificent gothic show, which allowed them to be noticed by the producers of Warner Bros film ‘Studio Illegale.’ The band appears in the film performing the first single ‘Through The Looking-Glass’.”

Cradle Of Filth Frontman Dani Filth To Appear In The Hobbit

In more metal related movie news, the producers of the highly anticipated movie adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” recently revealed that Cradle Of Filth frontman, Dani Filth will be appearing in one of the movies in a small, as yet unrevealed cameo role.

“We noticed that the work of Tolkien is biggest in today’s youth culture amongst heavy metal and nerdcore hip-hop fans, so we figured we’d give them something to get excited about. We looked into the former culture a lot more and were excited to see that a band called Blind Guardian had done a whole concept album based on The Silmarillion and that the average Saxon fan looks like the lovable dwarf, Gimli, so it seemed like a good idea to include a true metal giant in the film.”

Obviously, roles were hard to come by in a film featuring the phenomenal acting talents of Ian McKellan, Christopher Lee, Brian Blessed and Britain’s most beloved national treasure, Stephen Fry, which is why Filth’s role will only be a small one. “He was definitely a little disappointed not to have a big role,” said the producer, “but he eventually reached the same conclusion that we’d come to, and will be delivering an eye catching performance in the Shire.”
