2017 AP Music Awards To Be Hosted By Andy Black

The Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards, Fueled by Monster Energy, will be hosted by Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack – more recently recognized by his solo moniker Andy Black.

Biersack states, “I am so honored to be hosting this year’s fourth annual APMAs. I’ve attended every APMAs, and I’ve been fortunate to have a favorite moment every year. As host, I want to make people feel happy and create favorite moments for them, too. I want them to be stoked, whether they are attending the event or watching it from their homes.”

Alternative Press CEO Mike Shea adds, “Andy is one of the most dynamic and engaging musicians I think I’ve ever met. Besides being an amazing frontman on the rock stage, he’s also one of the funniest off-stage. Over the past year, he’s been bringing his comedic side to fans while touring with his Andy Black project, and when we heard that he was interested in hosting the APMAs, we thought that there could be some real magic here in the making. Even before we got down into the details he had already dissected other hosts’ successes and failures on other award shows and came to us with an entire analysis of what he could bring to the APMAs. We are really excited about his enthusiasm and dedication to the show and we know that music fans worldwide are going to be happily surprised to see the results!”

This year’s event will return to Alternative Press’ home city of Cleveland, Ohio on July 17th. Details regarding 2017 tickets and VIP packages, nominees,attending/performing artists, red carpet appearances, surrounding events and more will be announced soon via this location.

Coldfells Announces Self-Titled Album Release

Bindrune Recordings and Eihwaz Recordings are proud to co-release the self-titled Coldfells debut on a limited run of 100 hand-numbered LPs, part of a bundle including a digital download code, an embroidered patch, and a professionally replicated CD version of the two Coldfells demo tracks, “Dungeons Deep” and “On Carven Throne.”

This self-titled release is coming April 1st via the label collaboration, with Bindrune and Eihwaz also issuing this press release:

“A winter night of introspection demands appropriate accompaniment, and for that, the blackened doom of Coldfells provides a perfect soundtrack to journeys outside frozen windows and within frozen souls.

“Call it doom, yes, but doom with classic heavy metal tropes: unabashedly melodic guitar lines parallel each torn-throat roar, and triumphant, power-laden clean choir vocals ride upon the the genre’s earmarks of slowness and sorrow. Around its edges, however, the music’s epic black metal influence is never far, rounding out a recipe with riffs and blasts that enhance rather than dilute the anguish of the proceedings.

“And there is anguish aplenty, as each member of this trio reached beyond their past projects to unearth something new within themselves, whether its vocalist/guitarist Aaron Carey’s (Nechochwen, End, Infirmary) wrenchingly personal and ultimately universal storytelling; bass/drummer/backing vocalist Andrew D’Cagna’s (Nechochwen, Obsequiae, Unwilling Flesh) tenor causing all fists to rise on ‘All Night We Flew,’ or guitarist Jonny Doyle’s (Plaguewielder, Horse Drawn) unflinching riffs dragging hearts down into gloomy darkness.

“But the true connecting fiber of this band – the aura of their Appalachian surroundings – encapsulates the album’s sonic purpose: … to see the winter Appalachian landscapes we grew up around… the dead trees, grey skies, run-down mill towns… but, besides everything being desolate… that it’s still beautiful.”

Anomalie Releasing New Album “Visions”

Art of Propaganda is proud to present Anomalie’s third album, “Visions,” which will drop on March 17th, 2017. The label also issued this press release about Anomalie’s history and the sound of this upcoming album:

“In 2011, Marrok (live member of Harakiri for the Sky) founded Anomalie to combine his favorite elements of emotional black metal, post-metal, and depressive rock, which soon resulted in his own incomparable vision of profound and honest music. Two years later, the work for his first full-length album, ‘Between the Light,’ came to a conclusion: Anomalie impressed many and received much positive reaction in the press.

“It was followed in 2015 with the even-more-critically acclaimed ‘Refugium:’ what was originally nothing more than a one-man side project turned into Marrok’s main (and very personal) channel of artistical expression with this second album, which was soon followed by a decision to gather a full live lineup during that year’s summer season.

“Alas, that solo-turned-secular vision has fully blossomed with Anomalie’s third album, appropriately titled ‘Visions.’ Immediately, the expanded heft of a full lineup is felt on ‘Visions’ That positive development is largely the result of the band’s time on the road, during two European tours alongside such acts as Dread Sovereign and Agrypnie – but it sounds, and especially feels, totally like the Anomalie the international metal scene has grown to love. Thus armed, the band made the wise decision to record again at the esteemed Klangschmiede Studio E in Germany with producer Markus Stock (Alcest, Secrets of the Moon, Empyrium).

“But more than the actual sonics underpinning Visions are the life experiences which inform Anomalie’s music. Some major changes in Marrok’s occurred since the release of ‘Refugium,’ and with the help of this expanded lineup, he guides those experiences toward a natural evolution of the now-characteristic Anomalie aesthetic. An atmospheric spiritual journey telling the story of seven individual visions, the soundscapes of this opus are an amalgamation of black metal’s bleakness with breathtaking melodies and fragile acoustic guitar arrangements, abducting the listener into a realm of fire and bones. Some compositions demand a certain level of patience and maturity to experience the full range of this highly emotional voyage, but those who are ready to face ‘Visions’ will feel the honesty and profundity of these hymns about the cycles of life and death!”

Otus Signs With Argonauta Records To Release “7.83Hz”

Argonauta Records just issued this press release about inking a deal with Italian band Otus for a new album release:

“We’re thrilled to announce we’ve inked a deal with Italian sludge post metallers Otus. Born in 2012, Otus takes elements of post-metal/sludge bands as Isis and Cult of Luna, passing through the Black Sabbath’s doom up to the experimental music of Tool, Om and Sunn O))).

“The band enrich their sound playing ethnic instruments, building their own synthesizers, chanting mantras and taking particular care of their visual and symbolic identity, from poster art to visual projections. After their first demo-EP released in 2013, Otus took part in several gigs and festivals playing with great bands as Intronaut, And So I Watch You From Afar, Toner Low, Scale The Summit, and Shores Of Null.”

The band says: “After the very good feedback of audiences during live performances, but also by webzines and press, it was our desire to find a label through which propose an official release and to grow up with; so the interest shown by Argonauta Records and Gero gave us an enormous pleasure. We followed carefully their production because we admire their seriousness in bringing forward a well-defined musical discourse with its own identity, not so obvious in the actual panorama.”

The band’s upcoming release “7.83Hz” is a concept album divided in 3 chapters and inspired by Timothy Leary’s quote: Turn on, Tune in, Drop Out. “7.83Hz” was self produced by the band during 2016 and will be re-released via Argonauta Records in CD packaging by the spring of 2017.
