Clutch Officially Premiere New Song “How To Shake Hands”

Clutch premiere their new track “How To Shake Hands“ streaming below. The band’s press release offers:

“Clutch’s song ‘How to Shake Hands‘ traces its lineage back to Ry Cooder and John Lee Hooker via the song ‘John Lee Hooker for President‘. In that song Ry Cooder impersonates JLH giving a stump speech on what will happen when he becomes President. Clutch’s original idea of covering the Ry Cooder song was soon abandoned as Neil Fallon said he couldn’t do the song justice. Instead, Neil put his own lyrics in the style of Ry Cooder/JLH to a new Clutch song which ended up becoming the fast-paced ‘How to Shake Hands‘.”

Anomalie Releasing New Album “Visions”

Art of Propaganda is proud to present Anomalie’s third album, “Visions,” which will drop on March 17th, 2017. The label also issued this press release about Anomalie’s history and the sound of this upcoming album:

“In 2011, Marrok (live member of Harakiri for the Sky) founded Anomalie to combine his favorite elements of emotional black metal, post-metal, and depressive rock, which soon resulted in his own incomparable vision of profound and honest music. Two years later, the work for his first full-length album, ‘Between the Light,’ came to a conclusion: Anomalie impressed many and received much positive reaction in the press.

“It was followed in 2015 with the even-more-critically acclaimed ‘Refugium:’ what was originally nothing more than a one-man side project turned into Marrok’s main (and very personal) channel of artistical expression with this second album, which was soon followed by a decision to gather a full live lineup during that year’s summer season.

“Alas, that solo-turned-secular vision has fully blossomed with Anomalie’s third album, appropriately titled ‘Visions.’ Immediately, the expanded heft of a full lineup is felt on ‘Visions’ That positive development is largely the result of the band’s time on the road, during two European tours alongside such acts as Dread Sovereign and Agrypnie – but it sounds, and especially feels, totally like the Anomalie the international metal scene has grown to love. Thus armed, the band made the wise decision to record again at the esteemed Klangschmiede Studio E in Germany with producer Markus Stock (Alcest, Secrets of the Moon, Empyrium).

“But more than the actual sonics underpinning Visions are the life experiences which inform Anomalie’s music. Some major changes in Marrok’s occurred since the release of ‘Refugium,’ and with the help of this expanded lineup, he guides those experiences toward a natural evolution of the now-characteristic Anomalie aesthetic. An atmospheric spiritual journey telling the story of seven individual visions, the soundscapes of this opus are an amalgamation of black metal’s bleakness with breathtaking melodies and fragile acoustic guitar arrangements, abducting the listener into a realm of fire and bones. Some compositions demand a certain level of patience and maturity to experience the full range of this highly emotional voyage, but those who are ready to face ‘Visions’ will feel the honesty and profundity of these hymns about the cycles of life and death!”

Megadeth Announces Dirk Verbeuren (Ex-Soilwork) As New Permanent Drummer

Megadeth has now officially recruited Ex-Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren as permanent new member of the band. Verbeuren has exited Soilwork for this opportunity. States the band in the following press release:

“Megadeth are happy to announce the addition of Dirk Verbeuren as the band’s new drummer. Verbeuren, formerly of Swedish metal band Soilwork, has been performing with the band for months, his first show was Rock on the Range festival in May, to a crowd of 40,000 concertgoers.

Most recently, Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler had performed all the drums on the band’s latest album, Dystopia, and had toured with Megadeth when not otherwise busy with his band.

Said bandleader Dave Mustaine: “Chris Adler‘s contributions are sure to be felt for years to come. Megadeth has been revitalized by Chris‘ playing, as well as his excellent suggestion of Dirk Verbeuren to drum with us. Tremendous thanks to Chris, and a big welcome to Dirk.”

New drummer Verbeuren had this to say: “Dave, David and Kiko, I’m thankful for your warm welcome and thrilled at the opportunity to perform and create badass music with you guys. Chris Adler, thank you for introducing me to Megadeth – and for your encouragement and support.”

Said Adler: “It has been an honor and a pleasure to join my favorite band of all time, and to be a part of their return to the top. I had an amazing time with everyone involved, from the writing, arranging and recording, to the touring and friendships built along the way. There was no argument or drama, no hidden story. Megadeth needs and deserves a full time drummer, and as much as I’d like to be, I can’t be in two places at once.

For my part, I am very lucky to be a part of Lamb of God, and to also have gotten a chance to dance with my heroes at the ball. I still can’t believe it sometimes when I think of myself as a kid, opening up my Megadeth albums…and now I’m an alumni! I’m very proud of that – and I will continue to be their biggest fan.”

Dead Wretch Releases “Fuck It” EP

Dead Wretch was spontaneously created a few weeks ago by Daniel Jackson, most notably of Void Ritual. “Fuck it” was released this past Friday as a surprise with no prior promotion and can be heard below.

According to a press release, the EP “only took those few weeks to write and record. The lyrics are dopey and the music is noisy. Dead Wretch exists because metal needs to be fun sometimes. The lyrics mean to be both humorous and brutally honest, taking aim at both funny pieces of extreme metal history as well as well as the artist’s own insecurities about age and sexuality.”
