Clutch Officially Premiere New Song “How To Shake Hands”

Clutch premiere their new track “How To Shake Hands“ streaming below. The band’s press release offers:

“Clutch’s song ‘How to Shake Hands‘ traces its lineage back to Ry Cooder and John Lee Hooker via the song ‘John Lee Hooker for President‘. In that song Ry Cooder impersonates JLH giving a stump speech on what will happen when he becomes President. Clutch’s original idea of covering the Ry Cooder song was soon abandoned as Neil Fallon said he couldn’t do the song justice. Instead, Neil put his own lyrics in the style of Ry Cooder/JLH to a new Clutch song which ended up becoming the fast-paced ‘How to Shake Hands‘.”

Debut Album Announced By Raintimes, New Single Available

Frontiers Music Srl announces the release of Raintimes’ debut album: a new melodic rock project featuring two young and talented Italian musicians, Pierpaolo “Zorro” Monti (Charming Grace, Shining Line) and Davide Barbieri (Wheels of Fire, Charming Grace) together with the awesome singer Michael Shotton (Von Groove). The lineup on the album is completed by Sven Larsson, Andrea Gipponi, and Ivan Gonzalez. The album will be out on December 1st, 2017 and promises to be an absolute delight for all AOR lovers out there! Pre-order the album at this location.

Check out the video for first single, “Forever Gone” which can be seen in the player below. Pierpaolo “Zorro” Monti says: “Forever Gone” is a very special song that I begun writing during the sessions of my Shining Line debut. I continued writing the song with the idea of making an album in the style of “The Storm”, so I asked Dave to add a few parts to complete its structure, and recorded the first demo the same day. We were very excited with the final result! Raintimes is the album that I really wanted to use as a sort of tribute to my love and admiration for “The Storm.” I have played to death their two albums (especially “Eye of the Storm”). Their tempos, steeped in pure melodic class, are the perfect crossroad between AOR and Melodic Rock. The choice of Shotton as frontman was based not only on my love for his talents, but because I wanted to give a strong personality to the album and make the music more personal and original.”

A few demos were sent to Frontiers’ President Serafino Perugino, who enjoyed what he heard and gave the talented guys from Northern Italy an opportunity to showcase their talent to a wider audience.

Fun fact for all the melodic rock aficionados out there: the duo of Monti and Barbieri (together with Dave Zublena) actually penned the song “Love Gets Through” from the First Signal “One Step Over the Line” released on Frontiers Music Srl in June 2016.

The track listing for the album is:

1. Forever Gone
2. Make My Day
3. Don’t Ever Give Up
4. Swan
5. I Need Tonight
6. Raintimes
7. Just A Little Bit More
8. Empty Days
9. Together As Friends
10. Missing Piece
11. I See The Light

Bandcamp Donating To ACLU In Protest Of Immigration Ban, Border Wall

Bandcamp – a site that has become the mecca for all things underground metal – is getting involved in protests against the Trump administration’s immigration ban and proposed $15 billion border wall.

This coming Friday, Bandcamp is donating 100% of their profits from any song purchased all day long to the ACLU. Bandcamp founder Ethan Diamond posted a list of groups from the affected countries, including Syrian metal band Theoria, at this location. What do you think of this decision and Bandcamp’s involvement in the situation?

Diamond also issued this statement:

“Like 98% of U.S. citizens (including the President), I am the descendant of immigrants—my great-grandparents came to America from Russia and Lithuania as teenagers and worked in sweatshops until they were able to afford to bring the rest of their families over. Most everyone you speak to in this country has a similar story to tell, because we are, in fact, a nation of immigrants, bound together by a shared belief in justice, equality, and the freedom to pursue a better life. In this context, last week’s Executive Order barring immigrants and refugees from seven Middle Eastern countries from entering the United States is not simply immoral, it violates the very spirit and foundation of America.

“Contrary to the assertions of the current administration, the order will not make us safer (an opinion shared by the State Department and many members of Congress including prominent Republicans). Christian religious leaders have denounced both the ban, as well as the exception prioritizing Christian immigrants, as inhumane. It is an unequivocal moral wrong, a cynical attempt to sow division among the American people, and is in direct opposition to the principles of a country where the tenet of religious freedom is written directly into the Constitution. This is not who we are, and it is not what we believe in. We at Bandcamp oppose the ban wholeheartedly, and extend our support to those whose lives have been upended.

“And so all day this Friday, February 3rd (starting at 12:01am Pacific Time), for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, we will be donating 100% of our share of the proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union, who are working tirelessly to combat these discriminatory and unconstitutional actions.

“As another way of showing solidarity with the immigrants and refugees from the seven banned countries—as well as those impacted by the construction of the Mexican border wall—we’ve compiled a list of albums made by artists from the affected countries (Bandcamp may be incorporated in the United States, but we host artists from every corner of the world). We believe that knowledge and empathy are crucial weapons against fear and intolerance. We hope that, as you listen to these albums, you’ll not only discover some great new artists, but will also gain a further appreciation and understanding for the way music transcends all borders, and remember that, even in the darkest of times, there is more that unites us than divides us.”

Doyle Signs With EMP To Release New Album, Announces European Tour Dates

Former Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has signed a label and distribution deal with EMP Label Group, who will not only release “As We Die” – the upcoming sophomore LP from Doyble – but also distribute all releases for the guitarist’s label Monsterman Records.

EMP President David Ellefson comments: “I’ve always loved Doyle and we’ve had a great relationship that goes back a long time. We’d started some talk last year when Doyle and Alissa (White-Gluz) came out to do some stuff with Metal Allegiance, and it just became an ongoing conversation over the past year. Now that it’s official, we’re extremely excited to be able to not only push out this new DOYLE record, which is amazing, but all the killer Monsterman titles via EMP.”

Says Doyle, “When Dave came to me with an offer for our new CD ‘As We Die’ it was a no brainer. He has been a good friend of mine for 20 + years, and has never done me wrong, and in this business that’s unheard of. We didn’t want to release it ourselves on Monster Man, we wanted a bigger push and EMP has a lot of exciting things happening in 2017 that will do that for us.”

Doyle – the current project of Von Frankenstein with Cancerslug vocalist Alex “Wolfman” Story, and a current lineup rounded out by bassist Brandon Strate and drummer Brandon Pertzborn – continues the lineage of Doyle’s former projects, pairing crushing metal riffs with ferocious punk rock swagger and the theatrical intensity one would expect from one of the reigning kings, and erstwhile creators, of horrorcore.
