Marty Friedman Debuts Live Video For “Whiteworm” – To Release Live Album In October

Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth) will be releasing a new live set titled “One Bad M.F. Live!!” on October 19th via Prosthetic. The outing was recorded during his April 14th, 2018 live show in Mexico City. A live music video for the track “Whiteworm” from it is now available for streaming below.

Friedman had the following to say of the album:

“This live album is a tip of the hat to the live albums that blew my mind when I was a kid. The musical content itself is modern and atomic-powered, but the presentation is decidedly old school. The pacing of the show, the audience participation stuff, the special live arrangements of the songs, these are the things that got me all jacked up as a kid.

I like to give the audience the feeling that they are really getting something unique, something that only happens at THEIR show, not just a recital of the songs exactly as they know them. There are lots of happy accidents, once in a lifetime ad libs, things that could have only happened because we were high on that particular audience’s energy.”

The Drip Inks Deal With Relapse To Release “A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics”

Relapse Records this week confirms the label signing of blistering grindcore quartet The Drip. Relapse comments:

“Based out of Washington State, The Drip unloads a belittling, ravenous style of high-potency grind, having taken cues from the forefathers of the genre like Napalm Death and Brutal Truth yet contemporizing their approach to put them on par with Nasum, Rotten Sound, Insect Warfare and the like.

“Several independent EPs found the band reaping accolades from US press outlets like Operation Grindcore, who stated, ‘If you like your grindcore, metallic and overflowing with seething aggression, then The Drip should please you for quite some time,’ and Headbang or GTFO, who called the band’s style, ‘Furious gut stabbing grind that pummels your anus until it collapses on the floor.’

“The Dirp now brings their ferocious, blasting arts to the Relapse roster with the release of their label debut, A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics. A relentless, skull-crushing, pissed off, high-energy, blast-riddled explosion of violence, the EP rips through six tracks in barely twelve minutes, the first release to be fully recorded at Audiosiege in Portland by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust), after which it was mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Integrity).”

The Drip also adds: “We are proud to be a part of Relapse Records and their amazing roster of bands. It’s quite an honor being label mates with some of our favorite artists, and even more exciting to be releasing our album, A Presentation Of Gruesome Poetics. It is our strongest material to date, and it’s ready to be unleashed to the metal scene. We look forward to 2014 and what it brings.”

Relapse will release “A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics” in North America on April 15th, and the track listing is as follows:

1. Catalyst
2. Rise To Failure
3. Bygones Only Burn Once
4. Black Screen
5. Siren
6. Lash In, Lash Out

Triptykon Returning To Roadburn Festival 2014

In 2010, the organizers of Holland’s highly acclaimed Roadburn Festival invited Tom Gabriel Warrior, founder of Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Triptykon, to act as the curator.

Under the banner of Only Death Is Real, Roadburn 2010 thus became the venue for the presentation of Triptykon’s newly-released debut album, “Eparistera Daimones” (reviewed here), as well as Triptykon’s first official live appearance. Century Media Records now comments:

“We are deeply delighted and proud to be able to announce that Triptykon has been asked to return to Roadburn in 2014. To commemorate the release of Triptykon’s long-awaited new album in spring 2014, Triptykon will appear on Roadburn’s main stage on Sunday, April 13, 2014.”

Tom Gabriel Warrior states: “Roadburn is very likely the most extraordinary, daring, and vigorous festival in what has otherwise largely become a blandly repetitive and overly commercialized heavy rock scene. Moreover, anybody who has ever attended Roadburn can confirm that no other festival exudes such a unique feeling of radiance and creativity among audience and performers alike. Triptykon’s return to Roadburn in 2014 signifies yet another truly unique chapter in a long affiliation with the festival, dating back to the riotous days of Celtic Frost. I am deeply grateful to Roadburn’s artistic director Walter Hoeijmakers for his extraordinary friendship and his continued faith in the path we are pursuing with Triptykon. In return, we shall duly transform Roadburn into a church of darkness.”

Roadburn 2014 will run from Thursday, April 10th to Sunday, April 13th at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.

Haeresiarchs Of Dis Pushes Back New Album Release

Moribund Cult Records confirmed today that the next full length release from Haeresiarchs of Dis, originally set for November 27th, has been pushed to Jan – Feb of 2013. The packaging for this release will be presented as a hardcover CD book designed by studio Toadstool Enterprises. This special packaging requires a few more months to execute.

Of the presentation band mastermind Cernunnos commented: “Because this chapter of Haeresiarchs of Dis is translated from a linear piece of ancient text, I wanted a design to reflect this. It will be presented as an old book fragment with annotations and sparse artwork. This I feel better represents the work as a whole.”

Cernunnos also commented that there has been a “revolving door” around artwork and design changes, and a finalized version, including cover, may not be available until release.
