Allstar Death Metal band Siege Of Power releases limited 7″ prior to debut album!

– June 21st, 2018 –

Video teaser available!

No bullshit compromises of any kind whatsoever. That’s what SIEGE OF POWER is all about! SIEGE OF POWER started in 2013 as a project without any expectations. Shortly after releasing a split album it was left for dead, buried and almost forgotten until the rotten corpse was exhumed in 2017. This resulted in a no-nonsense extreme metal album mixed with several doomdozers. Influences vary from Carnivore and SOD to Discharge and Amebix, done in their own style.

SIEGE OF POWER is:
Chris Reifert – Vocals (Autopsy, Violation Wound, Abscess, Painted Doll)
Paul Baayens – Guitars (Asphyx, ex-Hail of Bullets, Thanatos)
Theo van Eekelen – Bass (ex-Hail of Bullets, ex-Houwitser, ex-Grand Supreme Blood Court)
Bob Bagchus – Drums (ex-Asphyx, Soulburn, ex-Grand Supreme Blood Court)

SIEGE OF POWER will release a limited 7″, entitled ‘The Cold Room‘, on August 10th via Metal Blade Records. Two of the three songs are non-albums songs. The 7″ is strictly limited to 500 copies. 300 copies in black and 200 colored copies. The 200 colored copies will be sold exclusively via the official merch booth at the Party.San Open Air (party-san.de)!

Theo van Eekelen – Bass (ex-Hail of Bullets, ex-Houwitser, ex-Grand Supreme Blood Court)
Bob Bagchus – Drums (ex-Asphyx, Soulburn, ex-Grand Supreme Blood Court)

Comments Chris Reifert on the Metal Blade signing: “Well, this is pretty fucking cool. Metal Blade was one of the early metal labels I discovered as a young teenager while questing for the next heavy thing and I discovered tons of bands through their regular album and EP releases as well as the highly influential Metal Massacre series. My history with MB is deep, whether they know it or not and here we are now working together at last. Hell yeah!”

Bob Bagchus: “The name Metal Blade is metal magic to me. Always has been since my early pubic years. Names such as Metallica, Slayer, Trouble, Hallows Eve are as strongly connected to Metal Blade as to my childhood when I first got into metal. Being signed by them with Siege of Power is a great feeling and perhaps the crown of my ‘musical’ career!”

The Siege Of Power debut album, Warning Blast, will drop in September and more information about it will be revealed shortly. Stay tuned!

Otep Target Trump And His Administration In New Single & Video “To The Gallows”

Otep debut a lyric video for their new track “To The Gallows“. It’s the first single to be launched from the group’s new album, “Kult 45“, out July 27th via Napalm Records. The song and clip calls out current U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration.

Comments Otep frontwoman Otep Shamaya of the song:

“Art is resistance. Art allows us to fightback without violence. This song, ‘To the Gallows‘, is meant to shine a light on Traitor Trump’s attacks on the Constitution, on Healthcare, on the LGBTQ+, the African American, Hispanic and Muslim communities, DREAMERS, and women’s reproductive rights.

Not to mention that this spurious President might have committed just a little bit of light treason, but this is why we rally, this is why we march, and this is why I write. Because when I look back someday I want to know that I did everything in my power as an artist, activist and citizen, to stop him and his bigoted embryonic autocracy.”

Says Shamaya further of her intent with the track and the album:

“For me this song is a reminder that Trump needs to be held accountable for his crimes and he also needs to be reminded that the American people are the ones that have the true power in this country, and I want people to remember that. My hope is not only does it give people the courage to stand strong but it also gives them an opportunity to feel connected and sing along and feel empowered. Who knows, maybe the next time a rally comes around or a rally needs to be made, they’ll be open to being part of it.”

Adding:

“It’s meant to provoke. I hope it does. I’ve never been afraid to stand by what I say. I don’t worry about what some of his supporters might say. I don’t think they’re necessarily gonna be fans of my music anyway simply because of who I am — a loud-mouthed lesbian radical who’s fighting for the working class. That’s not normally what people who support Trump are appreciative of. I just make sure I’m not just running off at the mouth without actually knowing something about what I’m upset about.”

Redemption reveals details for new album, ‘Long Night’s Journey into Day’

– May 15th, 2018 –

Streams first single, “Little Men”, online

On July 27th, Redemption will release their seventh full-length album, Long Night’s Journey into Day – the first to be produced with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Doro, etc.). For a preview of Long Night’s Journey into Day, the single “Little Men” can be heard now at: metalblade.com/redemption – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

– ltd. first edition Digipak-CD with 2 exclusive bonus tracks
– jewel-case CD
– 180g black vinyl

– transparent light blue marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
– marine blue/green marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

The follow-up to 2016′s The Art Of Loss, which van Dyk counts amongst Redemption‘s very best, Long Night’s Journey Into Day is inarguably the sound of a band at the height of their powers. As followers of Redemption are also aware, it is the first full-length since the departure of vocalist Ray Alder, and features the debut of Evergrey vocalist Tom Englund. “We were unable to tour ‘The Art Of Loss‘ because Ray was not able to actively participate in Redemption any longer, so we decided it was time to part company shortly after its release. Ray is a dear friend, and I have nothing but respect and love for him and what we created together. But at some point, it just became untenable.” Of course, Alder’s shoes were not exactly going to be easy to fill, and it was essential that his successor be someone who would immediately command respect, as well as somebody who could exceed expectations when it came to performance. Moreover, it was integral that they had someone who could fully invest in the lyrical themes concerning the human condition, which have always been central to Redemption. So, the fact that from the beginning of his career Englund has penned lyrics about feelings of doubt, fear and despair with an unshakable emotional authenticity made him the perfect choice. “Because of the power of his voice and the emotion he brings, this isn’t going to be a shocking transition for fans. Tom’s also a very versatile vocalist, and being a songwriter, he has a tremendous melodic and compositional sensibility, and on top of that, we’ve known each other for many years, and there is a level of not just professional respect but personal friendship to it all.”

Guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. When it came to backing up the music with visuals, the band once again turned to a longtime collaborator, Travis Smith, whose humbling resumé includes records by bands such as Art Of Defiance, Opeth and Iced Earth.

At The Gates Posts New Video, “Daggers Of Black Haze” Online

Swedish melodic death metal revolutionaries At The Gates has posted a new music video online for the song, “Daggers Of Black Haze.” You can check it out below. The song comes from the group’s forthcoming new studio album, “To Drink From The Night Itself,” which will be released on May 18th through Century Media.

At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg commented: “‘Daggers Of Black Haze’represents the more progressive side of the new record. It has a lot of reference-points to our early back catalogue, both style wise, and the emotional setting. It is desperate and urgent, but still melancholic and epic. It is conceptually one of the cornerstones of the album. Driving home the point of the need for a war on apathy and the populistic forces that takes advantage of it. This is a fight against the abyss. A beacon for the importance of real art, real forms of expression, and importance of our understanding of our mutual cultural history. The video was filmed by Costin Chioreanu once again, and it is full of symbolism and heavy on the conceptual side. Costin displays the war for art and the importance of standing up to the oppressive powers and paradigms with his film. It is beautiful, striking, melancholic and I am very happy to see his vision of my concept.”

Video director Costin Chioreanu added: “Being aware of the heavy topic in this song I realized that making a video for it represents a mandatory mission for the art, in general. Speaking today of the way how the ruling class guided the evolution in art and the perception upon it, the weight of the history, which is deeply buried in the artifacts’ structures and ideologies, I take this song and the means of illustrating it as a pure and genuine artistic attitude. In the course of time, an imposed perception projected through the manipulation of the art by those holding the power, took the shape of an idol in the viewers’ eyes, it became their main light, the source of the imaginary, artistic beliefs and patterns. The presence of the main character depicted on the newest At The Gates cover and artwork – Alcyoneus, the oldest hero among the giant warriors – is here as well. His bust was rebuilt for this video, but it got a new face. Now his mouth is closed and therefore, he is reduced to silence due to the new paradigms and the oppression’s influence in art. Yet, this character continues to defy the primitive human nature. The snake’s symbol and the eternal temptation offered by the bestial side of the self are also present here, and they work hand in hand with the new Alcyoneus’ image. The video goes fast through different moments in the history, including the perception of art and human nature, and it employs a heavy, almost funeral type of visual tone. This time I have also decided to base all my work on a pretty sharp type of image, as sharp as the blade of the daggers. Regarding imagery, there is darkness, heaviness, hate and anger, which accede to death, primordial co-habitation and they are all enshroud with an almost political type of solemnity. The revolutionary spirit emerges through the mere existence of this video per se. At some points, short scenes depicting nature come as an invitation to a philosophic reflection on the monumental character of the art required by politics. This is how I felt this song, its lyrics and all the explanations provided by Tomas for this particular tune.”
