Flotsam And Jetsam Posts New Music Video “Demolition Man” Online

American thrash metal veterans Flotsam And Jetsam has posted a new music video online for the song, “Demolition Man.” You can check it out below. The song comes from the band’s forthcoming new album, “The End Of Chaos,” which is scheduled to be released on January 18th through AFM Records.

This is the fourteenth album in their more than 30-year history. “This album kills! It’s all five guys with the gas pedal pushed to the floor for the entire album!” states Ken Mary.

“It was cool to have a new element of influence on this album with having Ken’s drum parts to partner with and play in and around his playing that also do with the guitars and vocals. Glad to have had Jacob Hansen bringing this album to the overall sound and energy it has, Jacob really highlights AK’s vocal melodies, as well as Steve and Michael’s songwriting, while the power of the rhythm section drives the songs.” – Michael Spencer

Old Rake Streaming New Single “Guitarists Playing Guitars”

Former Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake has released the first single from his upcoming debut solo album, “Old Rake,” which features instrumental guitar encompassing a myriad of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.

The album is due to be released on June 22nd in Europe and June 23rd in the USA. The first track, “Guitarists Playing Guitars,” which made its debut last night on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter, showcases the six-string shredder’s fretwork and features special guest appearances from the likes of Gary Holt, James Murphy, and Josh Middleton. Also featured is sticksman Mike Heller, who performs drums on the entire album.

Listen to “Guitarists Playing Guitars” now at Spotify here. Ol Drake also comments: “Behold the first single from the already-rusty ‘Old Rake’. This song was written by trying to write the cheesiest riff possible and going from there.

“I was speaking to Gary Holt and he said he’d like to solo on the album, and it just happened that when he’d said that I’d reached the main ‘solo section’ in its writing process. Then I Thought ‘I might as well go all out’. James got involved and I couldn’t believe it; to have two of my idols from growing up on one of MY songs was mind-blowing. I then asked my friend, Josh, from Sylosis, who is a ridiculous shredder, and my other friend, Amit. I met Amit through his working at a metal magazine publication, but mainly from at festivals involving alcohol; ridiculous shredder, too!

“Do not take a full impression of the whole album from this song; every track is different. Hope you enjoy my cheese-fest of ‘Guitarists Playing Guitars’!”

We Have A Ghost is a circle of musical collaborators led by the anonymous Ghost, who has announced his second studio album “Encounters.”

After the success of the self-titled debut, Ghost has widened his playing field and aims to showcase a broader range of styles and influences. He’s also bringing back drummer Zia Uddin (The Mayfield Four, International Heroes, Modwheelmood), and adding Danny Ryder (Of These, Hope), AGW (A Great Weight), Ryan Colgan (Crepitus) and Steven Sheffield to the list, along with contributions by Chris Vaughn, Jonno Lloyd (Ventenner) and Vru Patel (Solarein) among others.

The album is due out late 2015 / early 2016, with pre-orders available through IndieGoGo.com here. You can also stream We Are Ghost’s previous album below.

Todtgelichter Splitting With Guitarist Claudio

Hamburg, Germany based avant-garde metal act Todtgelichter (which was covered in our look at non-traditional black metal) is currently looking for a new guitar player due to the imminent departure of longtime member Claudio. The band comments:

“With a dedicated new guitar player we aim to strengthen our live presence in 2014 and to start the composing process for album number 5.

“We are searching for YOU: you are no rookie, you have a sense for melodies and songwriting, you play tight, groovy and in time and (ideally) are familiar with the songs of our last two albums ‘Angst’ and ‘Apnoe.’ Furthermore, you are able to rehearse twice a week in Hamburg/Hamm; you like rehearsing as much as playing live and you are always looking to improve your playing and to broaden your musical horizon.

“If all that is the case, send us a short notice to mails@todtgelichter.de and we will provide you with tabs and song examples so you can prepare for tryouts with us. Write us now – we’re waiting for your application!”

Todtgelichter released latest full-length album “Apnoe” earlier this year (reviewed here).
