As I Lay Dying And Pentagram Shows In Memphis Cancelled After Uproar

Memphis, Tennessee based venue Growlers has announced that they have decided to cancel an upcoming concert by the reactivated As I Lay Dying, after a number of patrons, friends and local acts spoke out against the band’s vocalist Tim Lambesis, who previously was incarcerated for attempting to arrange the murder of his wife. A statement from the venue reads:

“After hearing the combined voice of disheartened friends, local bands, and patrons, locally owned concert venue and bar, Growlers, has cancelled their scheduled show with As I Lay Dying, previously set for April 5th, and will replace it with a local show to benefit victims of domestic violence. Growlers has also canceled a show with the band Pentagram, previously set for March 24th.

“In 2014, Tim Lambesis, singer of metal band As I Lay Dying, was sentenced to up to six years in prison after being convicted of hiring someone to kill his wife. While the plot never unfolded, Lambesis spent the next two years of his life incarcerated. Just a couple of years later, and he’s back on stage, but with a remorseful attitude.

“From Lambesis, “I stand against who I became in my past… People who support AILD are not supporting the person I once was, because part of my life’s work is to undo the hurt I’ve caused. I will never be able to undo my greatest mistake, but I believe it’s better to do something rather than give up. AILD collectively condemns all forms of domestic abuse and violence. Our mission is to continually seek and implement ways to facilitate positive, meaningful change in the world around us.”

“However, not everyone was ready to give Lambesis a second chance, and Growlers has created controversy in Memphis for booking his band in Memphis.

“While we believe in the justice system and the ability for rehabilitation, we are against domestic violence and will always listen to those that have gone through the pain that it has caused. Since As I Lay Dying returned to performing we’d had several requests to bring them to Memphis, despite the singer’s past. When the show was first announced, hundreds of people bought tickets right away. However, we’ve since heard the input of several people in the local community that we have the utmost respect for, and we want them to know that their voices are heard. Growler’s vehemently denounces all forms of physical and mental domestic abuse, and we’ll be replacing the As I Lay Dying show with a benefit show featuring all local bands. 100% of the proceeds will go to helping local victims of domestic abuse.”

“As a locally owned small business, supporting our community is the single most
important thing to us. In this instance, we’ve heard the community loud and clear, and we are going to do everything we can to ensure that we continue forward in providing an enjoyable entertaining environment that all of our patrons feel comfortable in. And to the people who’s comments were erased we sincerely apologize, just know we stand with you.”

Pentagram’s touring plans have also been met with controversy following the release of frontman Bobby Liebling from Montgomery County Detention Center, where he was serving an eighteen month sentence after pleading guilty to “abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult custodian,” who is believed to have been his elderly mother.

Sisters Of Suffocation Posts New Lyric Video “Little Shits” Online

The female dominated Dutch death metal squad Sisters Of Suffocation releases its second video from the upcoming album Humans Are Broken for their new single “Little Shits.” It’s as raw and energetic statement against all sexists and haters that didn’t take the band serious because of their gender. You can check it out below.

The band on the new video:
“This song is about doing what you love and following your dreams, regardless of what other people may think of it. It is about diversity and equality, as well as having a passion for music and living for it to the fullest. It is about being yourself and trying to deal with people putting you down due to ignorant views and blatant prejudice. Finally, it is about overcoming negativity and putting your foot down, cause noone has to take shit from another person simply because they live their lives and love it. We hope you all enjoy it; we certainly do! Also: big shout out to Marc van Peski for the live pics in the video.”

All Hail The Yeti Premiere New Track “See You Never”

All Hail The Yeti debut another track from their impending new record “Highway Crosses“. Below you can take in “See You Never” from the effort ahead of its November 16th release on Minus Head Records. The group will perform a free album release show at The Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA on November 14th.

Speaking of this newest song to be shared, vocalist Connor Gerritty commented:

“The new track, ‘See You Never,’ was one of the first songs written for ‘Highway Crosses‘. The song was written about a person from my past that disrespected me, the band, my friends, our fans and my family. The lyrics say, ‘I am stronger than you, nothing left to prove’ instead of handling this person with violence or physical harm, I turned to bettering myself and fighting harder to be successful in my life.

Sometimes fighting physically is the natural reaction for being wronged. When you stand up for yourself with intellect instead of violence, it shows a far greater amount of self respect and I think in the end it feels like better revenge! Musically, this is the classic AHTY song. It has heavy verses, more hooks than a tackle box and a storming bridge/breakdown to finish it off! It has been crushing live on this current tour with Life Of Agony and I feel that this song will be a staple in our live set!”

Gruesome Premiere New NSFW Music Video For “Inhumane”

Death (the band) worshipping death metal outfit Gruesome (Exhumed, etc.) premiere their new music video for “Inhumane“, taken from their upcoming album “Twisted Prayers“, which will receive a June 01st release date through Relapse. Jeffrey Sisson (Exhumed, Origin) directed the clip.

Comments frontman Matt Harvey:

“We’re very stoked about how this video turned out. Jeff Sisson really took the concept and ran with it, creating something new and unique, while still in the spirit of homage that Gruesome is all about. This is the lead-off track for the record, and we feel like it really sets the tone for Twisted Prayers – a blend of OSDM savagery and a bit of melody and flash to mix things up a bit.

Play this at work to creep out your co-workers or on the bus home to get the person sitting next to you to fuck off! Thanks for checking it out, thanks to Jeff for putting this together, and as always thanks to Chuck and the boys for their legacy, which we continue to have a blast celebrating!”

Charlyne Yi Accuses Marilyn Manson Of Sexual Harassment & Racist Remarks

Marilyn Manson has had a turbulent few months. First starting a feud with Justin Bieber, then announcing Johnny Depp would possibly join his band. Then he had to cancel nine shows on his tour because he injured himself when a prop fell on him. The seemingly infinite series of mishaps continues with the firing of his bassist, Twiggy Ramierez, after sexual assault allegations were made against his bassist. Past week, he had a meltdown on stage and left, just a few songs in.

Now actress/comedienne Charlyne Yi, was responding to news of Marilyn Manson’s onstage meltdown, telling past Saturday (Feb. 17) in a since deleted tweet:

“Ugh, don’t even get me started on Marilyn Manson. Yes this happened a long time ago — on the last season of House, he came on set to visit because he was a huge fan of the show and he harassed just about every woman asking us if we were going to scissor, rhino & called me a China man.”

Adding:

“I genuinely hope he gets help.”

In a follow-up tweet, Charlyne Yi stated:

“It’s so triggering to see people come up on the internet who have harassed you. And then when you talk about the incidents you become known as the person tied to the harasser. And that’s just your name from now on. It almost overrides who you are.”

Senses Fail Debut New Track “New Jersey Makes, The World Takes”

Senses Fail debut “New Jersey Makes, The World Takes” from their upcoming new album, “If There Is Light, It Will Find You“. That effort is due for a February 16th release on Pure Noise Records.

Tells frontman Buddy Nielsen of the track:

“Over the years, I have lost a number of friends to drug addiction. This song addresses those losses and how I have tried to intervene in people’s addictions over the years. As someone who has battled addiction, I know that the change has to come from within.

While support and resources are very important, it is ultimately a decision that is on the person who is battling. So many of us in this country have a friend or loved one who has lost their battle, and I thought it was important to highlight that struggle.”

Kiss’ Gene Simmons Denies Sexual Battery Allegations – Says Evidence Will Prove His Innocence

A nameless woman has filed suit against Kiss’ Gene Simmons for his alleged actions during an interview on November 01st, 2017. According to the suit, the woman is a “longtime on-air personality for a local rock station.” The alleged incidents are said to have taken place during an on-camera interview with Gene Simmons and his bandmate Paul Stanley.

The suit levels accusations of sexual battery, gender violence, battery, gender discrimination and more against Simmons and was filed December 15th, 2017 in the Superior Court of California.

Among the plaintiff’s claims are Simmons placing her hand on his knee and holding it there, turning various questions into “sexual innuendos” and some unwanted touching. It further alleges that Simmons touched her buttocks while posing for a promotional photograph. It is stated that all of Simmons‘ alleged advances were repeatedly rebuffed throughout the interview.

Notably the interview took place at the Rock & Brews restaurant location in Highland California – a restaurant chain co-founded in part by Simmons and Stanley. The establishment is also named as a defendant in the case. You can read a copy of the entire suit below.

Simmons for his part has denied the allegations, stating via Facebook:

“Friends,

I intend to defend myself against any alleged charges you may have been reading about in the media.

For the record, I did not assault the person making these accusations in the manner alleged in the complaint or harm her in any way.

I am conferring with my lawyers with the aim of vigorously countering these allegations.

And I look forward to my day in court where the evidence will prove my innocence.”

As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Issues New Apology Statement

As I Lay Dying frontman issues the below statement via the band’s social media, in which he apologizes for his past actions. Lambesis spent two years in prison after he pled guilty to a charge of solicitation of another to commit murder. The charge stemmed from Lambesis unknowingly attempting to hire an undercover cop posing as a hitman to murder his now ex-wife, Meggan Lambesis, back in 2013.

States Tim Lambesis:

Words cannot begin to express how deeply sorry I am for the hurt that I have caused. There is no defense for what I did, and I look back on the person I became with as much disdain as many of you likely do.

First, I apologize to my former wife and remarkable children for my appalling actions. There’s not a single day that goes by where I don’t wish I could undo the damage I caused, and out of respect for their wishes I will not discuss anything else about them (now or in the future).

I also ask anyone reading this to promote healing for them by respecting their privacy and defending them from any negativity or anger which should be directed towards me. I was the sole offender and the only one to blame for everything that happened.

To my family, I apologize for the trauma you faced and may still feel. This is an ongoing sentence many of you serve because of me. I am so sorry to my friends who were betrayed by everything I hid from them and all the hardships I caused people who used to work with me. Band mates, road crew, managers, attorneys, agents, label people, and more all had to suffer through many unexpected changes because of my actions.

While they were dealing with the aftermath of my arrest, I responded toward many of them with bitterness that I should have directed toward myself. I know that I can’t undo the animosity I brought their way, but I hope to mend what I can now as time goes on.

To the people who looked up to me as an artist, I let you down in so many ways. I tried to show my best side to the public, while feeding an ugly growing monster behind closed doors. I wrote lyrics about the person I wanted to be rather than the person that I was. I was living a life that lacked empathy and viewed everything through a self-motivated lens.

I cannot say for certain what life looks like going forward as so much is different now and I’m still learning. Music always has and always will be a part of me, and has helped me get through the darkest parts of my journey. However, this apology is not a part of promoting anything. Rumors circulate, and that’s something I’ve learned to accept, but this apology is just that, an apology to everyone around me.

I’ve remained silent to the public since expressing remorse at my sentencing because time seemed like the best way to promote healing. Today marks the first opportunity to freely apologize without any motivation to gain favor from the courts, as I have now completed the entirety of my legal sentence (including the completion of all parole/probation requirements).

Let it be clear that no amount of time served can right my wrongs. I do not feel deserving of a second chance and am not asking for anyone’s trust. The way many people feel about me makes sense, and only time will tell if my future actions line up with my remorse, something I pray for every day. In the last five years, the ripple effect of all my actions has extended further than a written statement can address. Thus, I will continue to apologize in both words and actions moving forward.

Thank you for reading,
Tim”

Pierce The Veil Drummer Mike Fuentes Taking A “Break” From The Band Following Troubling Allegations

This past November allegations were made against Pierce The Veil drummer Mike Fuentes by two women, accusing him of attempting to conduct sexual relationships with them while they were underage. One post included screencaps of drummer Mike Fuentes allegedly pleasuring himself on a video chat as evidence. Pierce The Veil have now spoken out on those allegations with Fuentes to take a break from the band for the time being. The below statement was posted on the matter:

“From the day we started this band, the four of us agreed that we not only wanted to write and play songs together for the rest of our lives, but we also wanted to build a strong community through our music and provide a safe place for ourselves and our fans to express our shared values through creativity, open-mindedness, love and respect. Over the last ten years we have accomplished that and so much more with the help of our incredible fans. The bond that we share in this community is stronger than we could have ever imagined and is truly our pride and joy.

Recently, an allegation was made about Mike from an anonymous source pertaining to events dating back nearly ten years ago. We are taking this allegation seriously and would like to share the steps we are taking in response. Below are a few words from Mike.

“I’m of course aware of the allegation made about me from almost ten years ago, and I cannot begin to describe how difficult and disturbing this entire situation has been for everyone involved. I do not take this allegation lightly and would never downplay it. I have empathy for any human being who has experienced abuse or mistreatment in their lives, and I am inspired to see so many come forward and speak out about it. No one should have to suffer in silence, and I am thankful that the world is finally starting to listen. I also want to assure you that I have never intentionally manipulated or abused anyone in my life. That is not the person I am, how I was raised, or the type of behavior that I condone. I strongly believe in the empowerment of abuse victims, so if I have ever made anyone feel like they are less than equal, I am sincerely sorry.

I love playing music more than anything on earth, and I am constantly humbled by the support of our fans. I do not want the allegation surrounding me to negatively affect the reputation or future of the band, or to break the bond and trust that we have created with our fans over the years. So, I have decided to take a break and step away from my position in the band in hopes that this will allow my band mates and fans to continue focusing on the music and message that Pierce The Veil stands for. Though I am far from perfect, I do have a moral compass and try to stand up for what is right. While away from the band, I will continue to work hard to live my life in that way.”

Since the allegation first surfaced, our band has discussed how we can ensure the PTV community is always a safe environment. We’ve made many efforts over the years to protect our fans, and we can and will do more. We believe in creating spaces where people can seek help for any issues they are struggling with and provide resources and tools to help.

As a band, we are respecting Mike’s decision to take break and step away. Unfortunately, without a core member of the band, we will be respectfully withdrawing from the upcoming U.K. tour with All Time Low. We promise our fans that we will be back again very soon.”
